2 Until I moved to Evergreen, I d never heard of a hearing loop, resident Doug Austin, an experienced hearing aid user, said. But now, using telecoils in my hearing aids, I can hear lectures with unbelievable clarity. Even better than first row seating. I recommend everyone try! YOU LL BE HAPPY TO HEAR THIS! The W&PAC at Evergreen is equipped with a state-ofthe-art hearing loop system. Hearing loops stream sound wirelessly to people s hearing aids, cochlear implants, and smartphones. The combination of a large room and long distances between presenters and listeners and fellow audience members producing background noise make these spaces sometimes difficult to hear clearly. To take advantage of the hearing loop, all you need is a hearing aid or cochlear implant with a telecoil program. Don t know if your hearing device is loop-ready? Ask your audiologist to install a telecoil program in your hearing aids, and demonstrates how to use this feature. Don t use hearing aids but would love to understand the voices of the performers at the W&PAC a little better? Flag one of our Evergreen staff members and we will be happy to offer a loop listening device. You should hear what you have been missing!

3 Evergreen has been an integral part of Oshkosh and has partnered with city leaders, schools MAKE and PLANS other organizations NOW in many key projects and programs over the years. ~Sue Knobloch, Evergreen historian Oshkosh Senior Center Golden Tones February 2pm Elvis John February 7pm John Hardginski, or Elvis John, has been entertaining audiences as an Elvis Tribute Artist for over 7 years now. He is pictured here with Evergreen employee Sherri Landig, a longtime fan of Elvis John! John has performed over 300 times and brings to stage his outfits that are beautiful reproductions of the actual outfits Elvis wore on stage. From his classic Elvis dance moves to walking into the audience and engaging with you, this is a performance any Elvis fan will not want to miss! Mary Todd Lincoln: A Widow Forgotten February 7pm This is a one woman show featuring Jessica Michna. She will give us a comprehensive look at Mary Todd Lincoln s life. Mrs. Lincoln s life has come full circle as she returns to Springfield, Illinois to take up residence with her sister Elizabeth. She recalls the days of her girlhood in the genteel society of Lexington, Kentucky, her marriage to the gangly young lawyer, and eventually her rise to become the First Lady. 4 Franki Moscato March 7pm Richard s Irish Troupe March 7pm Drowsy Maggies March 3pm A Walk Down Memory Lane March 3pm Come and take a walk down Memory Lane to the Good Ole Days of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s with author Rochelle Pennington. Her historical, lighthearted program will detail everyday life during the bygone years of corner phone booths, party lines, hand-me-down clothes, doctors who made house calls, wringer washing machines, marble matches, Howdy Doody shows, and outhouses. Audience attendees will be invited to remember a time when percolating coffee pots, mothers in aprons, flour sifters, home baked bread, and suppers prepared from canning jars lining the pantry shelves were part of everyday life. 2

5 Cole Porter Jazz Night March 7pm A talented American composer and songwriter, Cole Porter handled both music and lyrics with ease, and conquered Broadway and Hollywood with his witty songs. Porter is most known for writing jazz standards that were originally written for musicals in the 1930s and 40s. He wrote songs for over thirty stage and film musicals, showcasing his sophistication and lyrical wit. This music will be brought to you by Erin Krebs, a Wisconsin native. Erin is well known in the local jazz community and is said to be a dynamic performer who is well on her way to becoming one of Wisconsin s premier and most treasured vocalists. Erin will be surrounded by other musicians, as they bring the songs of Cole Porter to life on the Evergreen stage! Katie Dahl April 3pm Singer-songwriter Katie Dahl has performed her original songs everywhere from the dusty cliffs of Mali, to the winding canals of southern France, to the cedar forests of the American Northwoods. Though she s particularly well-respected on her home turf of Door County, Wisconsin, Katie tours regularly and has earned accolades nationwide for the depth and power of her alto voice, the literate candor of her songs, and the easy humor of her live performances. In 2015, Katie s song Crowns hit #1 on the Folk-DJ charts, and she was selected for Falcon Ridge Folk Festival s prestigious Emerging Artists Showcase. Karen Impola of Iowa Public Radio says, Katie Dahl s music combines a love for her rural Midwestern roots, a droll wit, and a clear-eyed appraisal of modern life, all served up in a voice as rich as cream. 6 Photo by Dominik Scythe on Unsplash UWO Classical Strings Quartet April 7pm Join us as we welcome a classical string quartet composed of faculty members of the UW-Oshkosh Music Department. This quartet will consist of Yuliya Smead (Violin), Sharon Tenhundfeld (Viola), Gordon Lewis (Double Bass) and Katie Decker (Cello). These four faculty members have experience working and teaching across the U.S. and internationally, including Haiti, Costa Rica, Ukraine and Poland. Individually these performers have collaborated with others in fine arts, such as theatre and dance, as well as having worked with too many symphonies to list. This is by far one of the most experienced and professional groups we have had the pleasure of welcoming to the Evergreen stage. Lights of the Lakes Presentation April 3pm Lights of the Lakes is an original narrated slide show accompanied by music and sound effects. It consists of over 200 photographs, including striking portraits of over 60 different Great Lakes lighthouses. Other images include shipwrecks and historical subjects depicting iron and copper mining and lumbering activities in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The importance of these industries during this period necessitated the construction of many of the lights seen in the show, to help facilitate shipping of mineral and timber products to distant markets. 7 Enriching the Spirit of Community in Worship WE LIVE & MOVE & HAVE OUR BEING It is the onset of February; winter is in full-force, and the choruses of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year seem a distant memory. But do not lose heart, for we are closer to Spring than you might think (or feel). I believe it is no coincidence that the celebration of Resurrection and of the newness of life occurs in the Spring. The ever-circling year promises renewal. And because we have been around and lived long enough, we believe the promise with its hope for tomorrow. Yes, we still have hope, in spite of seeds hidden beneath the snow, roots dormant in frozen earth, tree limbs appearing lifeless, as daylight remains shortened and shadows stretch long and low. Pastor Steve Wood It is no mystery what the ashes of that Wednesday evoke; Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. But the 40 days of reflection that follow are like a time of germination, until a dry seed begins laboring in the ground, and a cotyledon shoot springs forth into the light; grass greening, trees budding, flowers blooming. Halleluiah! Wait anxiously, but do not lose heart, for your waiting is not in vain.
