3 Dear friends I am delighted to be leading the 2018 Passion of Italy Festival. This is my 8th international festival with KIconcerts in different locations around the world and choristers still remind me warmly of the great time we had singing in Italy back in Italy is a commanding presence in our world of music and there is no more important epicenter today than Rome. Imagine singing Mass at St. Peter s Basilica with all the voices of centuries past speaking in that space still. What a privilege and honor for us to add to the Vatican s endless echoes. The next night we present our combined Gala concert which will feature each of our participating choirs and the combined festival choir. This is also performed in an exceptional space with acoustics that are unique to ancient Europe. Optional Italian extensions are available for instance to Florence and Venice with individual concert opportunities in Tuscany and Venice. Touring in Italy is to step literally onto the cobblestones of times past including for instance in Rome - the Coliseum, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. The Passion of Italy Festival is intentionally passionate through our choice of singing, combined voices and the historical context that surrounds our visit so unique to Italy. 4 LEADER ROLLO DILWORTH Professor of Choral Music Education Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance Philadelphia, PA Rollo is an active conductor, composer and clinician. In addition to his work at the collegiate level, he is the Artistic Director for the Music Institute of Chicago Children s Choir. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for festival, all-state, and honor choirs. An award winning composer, his choral works are published by Hal Leonard Corporation, Santa Barbara Music Publishers, and Colla Voce Music Publishing Company Page 4
