2 LEGACY LIVE! This year marks the third season of LegacyLive!, Columbus s premiere classical music series. LegacyLive! features international artists of exceptional quality, whose performances each year delight hundreds of concertgoers, and, through broadcasts on NPR, thousands of listeners. All performances occur in Legacy Hall, regarded by audiences and professional musicians alike as one of the finest concert halls in the world for both its physical beauty and its unparalleled acoustics. The LegacyLive! series of seven concerts features four professional ensembles and three stellar faculty members from CSU s Schwob School of Music. 3 Takács String Quartet Sunday, September 26, :00 p.m. - Legacy Hall Recognized as one of the world s great ensembles, the Takács String Quartet plays with a unique blend of drama, warmth, and humor, combining four distinct musical personalities to bring fresh insights to the string quartet repertoire. Join this award-winning group for a performance at the Schwob School of Music featuring works by Schubert ( Death and the Maiden ) and Haydn. Thursday, October 14, 2010 Andrew Zohn Guitar Internationally acclaimed guitarist and CSU faculty member Andrew Zohn performs a solo concert featuring works ranging from baroque masterworks of Scarlatti and Telemann to modern compositions of Piazzolla and Cardoso. Zohn, a noted composer for guitar, also performs two original compositions: E Sonata, and Variations and Fughetta. Zohn has performed as a soloist and chamber musician on four continents including recent venues in Italy, Slovenia, Canada, and Poland.

4 Alexander Kobrin, Piano Thursday, November 11, Join Alexander Kobrin, the L. Rexford Whiddon Distinguished Chair in Piano at the Schwob School of Music, in his Legacy Hall debut, performing works by Haydn, Mozart, and Brahms. A First Place/Gold Medal winner of international piano competitions including the Van Cliburn, Busoni, Mamatsu, and Glasgow competitions, Kobrin is critically acclaimed for his technique, artistry, and commanding virtuosity. Supported by the Lloyd and Effie Bowers Music Endowment Wendy Warner Thursday January 13, 2011 Cello Hailed by Strings magazine for her youthful, surging playing, [and] natural stage presence, cellist Wendy Warner, Schwob School of Music s new Professor of Cello, is joined by classical pianist Irina Nuzova for a special LegacyLive! performance featuring all of Beethoven s cello sonatas. Professor Warner s appointment to the artist faculty of the Schwob School has been made possible in part by a generous gift from Leah D. Hamer.

5 St. Louis Brass Quintet Monday, January 24, Founded in 1964, the Saint Louis Brass Quintet is one of America s longest standing brass quintets, known for quirky, imaginative presentations of contemporary and traditional brass music. Join the group for an animated and lively performance with works spanning the brass repertoire from today s composers to transcriptions of Baroque and Renaissance classics. Sponsored by Gail B. The multi-faceted, genre defying Brooklyn Rider String Quartet joins the Schwob School of Music for an exciting evening performance. 6 New York Woodwind Quintet Friday, April 1, Described by New Yorker Magazine as having defined great wind playing in the United States, the New York Woodwind Quintet is known as the world s premiere woodwind quintet and is one of the most respected of all American chamber music ensembles. Join the quintet as they make their Legacy Hall debut as part of their sixty-third season with a program featuring works that span the woodwind repertoire. This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Georgia Council for the Arts Our Mission A school of music within a public university, the Schwob School of Music is a community of artists committed to the highest standards of artistry and integrity within a selective and nurturing learning environment.
