1 MUSIC CLASSES The Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts SCHEDULE OF CLASSES School Year: September 17, 2016 June 12, 2017 Our 32-week program runs from September through June. Classes meet once a week. Student must attend only their registered day and time. The tuition listed for each class is for the entire school year. There is a $45 registration fee for each new student (not included in tuition below). Tuition payments may be divided into six monthly installments. A child s age is taken into consideration in determining appropriate classes. Please visit our website for information on adult private instruction and group classes. This Schedule of Classes is subject to change. The Preparatory Center reserves the right to cancel any class for which there is insufficient enrollment. Course Title Day/Time Tuition Suzuki Programs for Violin and Cello Individually Scheduled please call to Program cost includes lesson, parent's class (1st year only), 30-minute private instruction $1,850 schedule an interview for group class, and one other class (Music and Movement, 45-minute private instruction $2,060 placement in a Suzuki Intro to Reading or I Can Read Music). 60-minute private instruction $2,270 program and for lesson/class schedule information. For age 3 and up Suzuki Program for Flute Program cost includes lesson, group class and one other class (Music and Movement, Intro to Reading or Musicianship). Private Lessons For age 4 and up Instrument Composition and Theory Voice Please note: Buddy lessons are available in 30-or 45-minute lengths. Individually Scheduled please call to schedule an interview for placement in a Suzuki program and for lesson and class schedule information. 2 Music and Movement First structured music class. Children learn about musical elements including pitch and rhythm through games, movement, and singing. For ages 3-6 Little Pipers Flute Class Please note: This is a young children's class for beginning flute. It also prepares children for the Prep Center Suzuki Flute program. For ages 4-5 Introduction to the Flute Introduction to the Clarinet For age 7 and up Introduction to the Saxophone Introduction to the Piano Students in Intro to Piano classes during the school year and Summer 2016: please contact the Prep Center office for schedule information. For ages 3-5 Ballet Basics No dance class experience required. Introduction to ballet technique. For ages :15-7:15 Ballet C Approval of instructor and minimum of three years of ballet training required. 5 Beginners Ballet Designed for older students with no previous dance experience who have an interest in studying ballet. For age 10 and up Contemporary Dance Class offers a mix of the basic principles of ballet technique and contemporary movement. 3:15-4:15 Dance Combo I Introduction to ballet, jazz and tap. Dance Combo II Introduction to ballet, jazz and tap. Jump and Move Introduction to hip hop and jazz styles. Hip Hop Exploration of urban dance. Tap Introduction to basic tap steps. Sweat pants, loose shirts and ballet shoes also accepted. Ballet Basics and all other Ballet classes: black or pink leotards, black or pink tights, and pink leather ballet shoes. Skirts are optional. (Oversized clothing and jewelry are not permitted.) Contemporary Dance: all-black leotards, footless tights, leggings, shorts, t-shirts or tanks. Bare feet. For ages 4-6 9:15-10:00 11:15-12:00 Theater Games and Improvisation Introduction to acting using theater games, story dramatization, improvisation, and movement. For ages 5-12 Theater Workshop and Performance Students explore written scripts and improvisational monologues, and are given the opportunity to write their own pieces.
