27 Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) Funding JEPP funding represents approx. 33% of the total funding requirement to maintain HUSAR Federal government has announced that program will not continue past 2012 Loss of funding will have a significant impact on our ability to continue HUSAR at current levels Will no longer be on track to be an international team Developing contingency plans due to reduced funding
28 2012 JEPP Funding Total 2012 JEPP funding received: approx. $1M COV match: $271 K Breakdown of the 2012 JEPP funds received: $400K HUSAR team training and equipment $300k one time equipment upgrade $240K one time grants to host exercise $45K grants to support Emergency Management Training
29 Summary Elimination of JEPP will significantly impact current scope and response capabilities HUSAR- not an international team- focus training and equipment for City and Provincial response Maintain 24 / 7 structural collapse capability Reduced response from national HUSAR teams will result in reduced national support in case of emergency in Vancouver Need to seek other sources of funding to continue HUSAR functions
