5 The stage deck is 25¼ above the auditorium floor. Clear height beneath the onstage catwalks is 15-9 except where traveller track is hung underneath the 2 nd and 4 th catwalks. Rigging There is no fly system in the theatre. Everything flown must be dead hung from the catwalks, lighting pipes, or roof trusses Live loads are not permitted (ie person or people). There are no appropriately engineered points to support live loads. Soft Goods Two-panel black traveler (about 40 wide) can be used either on an upstage track or on a downstage track as a main o Manual draw operation from stage right Full-stage width white scrim (about 40 wide) may be used upstage as a cyclorama (with or without the traveler in front of it) Twelve black fabric legs (about 4 wide) are typically hung two-to-a-pipe (about 8 of width) on angle, with three pipes on each side of the stage Stage Deck The 49 x 24 centre section of the stage is topped with ¾ plywood, Tentest for sound proofing, and 1/4" Masonite, painted black.. There is a 4' x 32' removable thrust (coffin locks) The thrust can be replaced with a 24' ramp across the front of the stage There is 8' x 40' of removable risers from the fixed stage deck to the rear wall. 9 Sound Equipment Guelph Little Theatre s sound system is designed to accommodate the diverse levels of experience found in a volunteer organization. It is adjusted and updated to meet the needs of not only GLT stage productions but also a wide variety of clients that frequently rent the theatre. The following is a basic description of the system s components and their normal usage. This overview is intended to supply soundscape designers, new volunteer operators, and rental clients with a basic understanding of our system s capabilities. More detailed information is included in the Sound Desk Binder or on our website. Speakers There are five (5) house speakers: left and right front (single speakers), centre front (dual cluster), and left and right rear (single speakers). All units are comprised of Yorkville TX4 loudspeakers. Note: In the past there have been two subwoofers (left and right) in place at GLT. As of this update (Sept 2016) these units are not currently available Computer Interface and Software Sound effects and music for GLT performances are controlled using Show Cue System software - version 11 (SCS11) run on a purpose-built, rack mounted computer running Windows 7 Professional. This computer is connected to the soundboard/mixer via USB to a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 digital audio interface. This interface provides ten (10) analog output channels and 10 digital channels. Only the analog channels are currently used by GLT. As mentioned, the computer is mounted in the Audio Rack, though is powered separately to avoid data loss should the rack power down unexpectedly. In addition to the SCS11 software, MS Office 365 is also installed along with several other audio utilities (Audacity, Levelator, VLC media player etc.). Installation of any additional software must be authorized by the Sound Director (or other authorized GLT representative) and will require an administrator password. Mixer/Sound Board Sound is mixed on a 24 channel Allen & Heath GL2800 analog mixer. In addition to the 24 input channels there are a total of ten (10) auxiliary sends, four (4) stereo inputs, eight (8) sub-groups, and a 4x10 matrix section. The following explains the default setup for this mixer. MAIN FADERS (YELLOW): The three mains faders control the master signals sent to the Front of House speakers. The M fader controls the Centre Cluster. CHANNELS 1-13: These are connected to a 16-channel audio snake-head located stage right. Channels 15&16 are wired to the booth but they are not normally in use. GLT 8 of 14 Nov 01, 2016

10 CHANNEL 14: This channel is used as a return for the wet mix overlay from the Lexicon MX200 effects unit mounted in the Audio Rack. CHANNELS 15-16(BLUE FADERS): These are the default front of house stereo channels, 15 being stage right & 16 stage left. These channels are connected to analog outputs #1 & #2 of the Scarlett 18i20 interface. They are designated as Front Stereo in the default SCS Device map and are also the default channels for Windows Media player, YouTube videos and the like. CHANNELS 17-24: These are connected to the 8 remaining Analog Outputs in the 18i20 interface and are used for the centre cluster, rear, and auxiliary (stage monitor) speaker assignments. Please consult the device map attached for the default assignments. SUB-GROUPS 1-8 (RED FADERS): These, of course, can be used to group various channels together under a single control. These can be mixed to the mains or switched to direct output. At present only groups 7 & 8 are used as main faders for the Rear House speakers. MATRIX FEEDS: The Matrix on a GL2800 is a sub-mixer that allows the eight sub-groups, the left, right, and centre main feeds, and an external source to be mixed independently and sent to an external system. There are four (4) feeds available in this feature. Currently GLT uses these to send custom mixes to The Dressing Room and Lobby speakers, and a Hearing Assist System transmitter. The fourth channel is currently unused and available for special purpose use. The external source mixed into each of these feeds is a powered condenser mic hung directly over centre stage. STEREO CHANNELS: The GL2800 also includes an additional 4 stereo channels paired to two (2) faders. These are most commonly used to connect ipods, cellphones and other stereo audio sources to the system. GLT s dual disc DJ CD unit is connected through two of these channels. AUXILIARY SENDS: There are 10 auxiliary sends on the GL2800. There are grouped as follows: AUX 1-4: These are sent to a pair of 100 watt stereo amplifiers which send a powered signal to three auxiliary boxes located stage right, stage left, and center stage rear. Each box contains one Speakon/¼ unbalanced combo socket for each Auxiliary where passive monitor wedges and other small effects speakers can be connected. AUX 5-7: These sends are routed through the 16-channel snake to the snakehead at stage right and provide line-level signals to the stage level for use in powered speakers, personal in-ear monitors, or other devices. 11 AUX 8: This is used as the send for GLT s Lexicon MX200 Reverb and Effects unit mounted in the Audio Rack. AUX9-10: This is a stereo send that is currently not used in GLT s default configuration. Cabling & Microphones GLT stocks various XLR, Speakon and ¼ balanced and unbalanced cables and a variety of patch cords and connectors. We also have a limited number of microphones. However, we cannot guarantee that we will have what is needed for any given performance. Renters and other outside groups coming to perform at GLT are advised to provide their own microphones and cabling where possible. Amplifiers There are six (6) stereo amplifiers that drive the main speakers. The High signals are driven by Yorkville AP2020 s and the Low signals and subwoofers (when available*) are driven by Yorkville AP4040 s. Signal separation is accomplished by the use of a trio of dbx 223XL stereo crossover units. Alternate Sound Desk Location Though most productions run fine with the Sound Desk located in the elevated booth, occasionally some productions, such as musicals and live bands, require that the Sound Desk be located at the audience level for best performance. An alternate booth platform is located at the back of the theatre behind the last row of seats. Experienced GLT operators can facilitate this relocation in less than an hour. Rental clients can arrange to have the sound desk relocated for them as part of the rental contract.ps-2001l main station. Additional Features AUDIO CD PLAYER: Though seldom used anymore a NEXT! DJ CD mixer and dual CD player is also available in the Audio Rack. It is normally connected through two of the auxiliary Stereo inputs. SOUND WORKSTATION AMP: A small amp is located at the Sound Workstation in the booth. This is connected to a pair of speakers mounted on the wall either side of the sound window. This amp allows the operator to hear a) the feed from the 2-track out (formally known as tape out) on the sound board, b) the feed from the stage mic, and c) any additional source that may be required, without powering up the main system. This allows an operator to work in the booth without disturbing other events taking place in the main theatre. It can also assist the operator during a performance when the stage mic setting is selected. COM UNITS: GLT uses standard Telex belt pack com units. 12 workstations, and on-stage at stage left, stage right and backstage centre, as well as in the lobby for Front of House. Five (5) Telex packs and headsets are currently available. VIDEO PROJECTION: A Sony VLP-FX40 video projector is available which can be hung from a number of locations with sufficient notice. This is usually connected to the Sound Desk computer mounted in the Audio Rack. It can be used for PowerPoint and other video formats. NOTE: GLT does not currently have a theatre quality screen available. Individual productions are required to provide screen space as a part of their set design. GLT 11 of 14 Nov 01, 2016

13 Backstage Facilities Dressing Rooms One large dressing room is available backstage. This room includes 12 performer stations at counters, a special make-up area with a sink, a fridge, a microwave and two washrooms one with a shower The Rehearsal Hall can be set-up with dressing room areas Kitchen The kitchen includes: a fridge, an electric stove, sinks, a microwave, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, dishware and cutlery Wardrobe Costume racks, a washer and a dryer are available Miscellaneous The following decibel restrictions are in place for the theatre and will be strictly enforced: Guelph Little Theatre 100 dba No recordings of any kind, either audio or video, may be made without the prior approval of Guelph Little Theatre Costumes, props and set pieces may be available for rent Use of the cloth scrim is at the discretion of the GLT Rental Chair. Should the GLT Rental Chair feel that there is possibility that - due to the nature of the show - the scrim may be damaged, the rental client will be required to sign a waiver taking responsibility for all damage and replacement costs Safety Rules 1. In the event of a fire alarm or other emergency, all visiting technical personnel and artists take direction from GLT personnel, specifically in regards to fire regulations, policies and procedures. 2. No drink or food allowed on stage or in the House bottled water is the only exception. GLT 12 of 14 Nov 01, 2016

14 Safety Requirements for Technical Crew A. Steel Toe (green triangle) footwear is required on load-ins, load-outs, fit-ups and tear-downs B. Closed Toe footwear in good repair is required at all times - except for performers as dictated by the artistic demands of a production C. Hard Hats will be required at the discretion of the GLT Personnel D. A full body harness - properly secured to an appropriate attachment point - is required when leaning out beyond the edge of the catwalks All work at Guelph Little Theatre must meet with OMOL Standards. Ontario Ministry of Labour (OMOL) Regulations The OMOL has deemed that work in theatres is covered by two sets of regulations. First, while a show is either loading-in and fitting-up, or a show is tearing-down and loading-out, work in a theatre is covered by the Construction Regulations. Second, once a show is set-up work in a theatre is covered by the Industrial Regulations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Footwear Ontario Regulation 213/91 Construction Projects states: 23. (1) Every worker shall wear protective footwear at all times when on a project. O. Reg. 213/91, s. 23 (1). (2) Protective footwear shall be a safety shoe or safety boot, Green triangle & Omega symbol Ontario Regulation 851 Industrial Establishments states: 82. A worker exposed to the hazard of foot injury shall wear foot protection appropriate in the circumstances. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851, s. 82. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Head Protection Ontario Regulation 851 Industrial Establishments states: 80. A worker exposed to the hazard of head injury shall wear head protection appropriate in the circumstances. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851, s. 80. Working at Heights Ontario Regulation 213/91 Construction Projects, Section 26.1 to 26.9 and Section 147 apply.
