1 STB RELAY OUTPUTS TERMINAL BLOCK STB 520 terminal block provides 32 digital outputs such as relays in a very small unit. It was designed to meet industrial requirements. The availability of optocoupler-ctrolled safety loops allows its use in high-security envirments. Features such as status indicati, relays mounted holders, and removable pins, improve field test and maintenance cditis. A choice of different types of cnectors allows the cnecti to I/O boards. 6 Chapter A Presentati The STB 520 terminal block enables you to implement 32 isolated digital outputs such as relays, under the ctrol of a system s output board. It accommodates: Electromechanical relays Static relays This product is targeted at process ctrol applicatis where it is essential to meet safety and reliability specificatis. 7 Chapter B Operati B.1. Relay outputs The STB 520 terminal block features 32-relay outputs. For every channel, are available the following three ctacts: Normally open Normally closed Comm return The power of cut is a functi of the relay selected in the sheet of the characteristics. 8 B.2. «Safety» mode The STB 520 terminal block possesses two galvanic isolated inputs photocouplers which can be used safety loops. Safety GROUP 1 - Channels 0 to 15 Safety GROUP 2 - Channels 16 to 31 The photocouplers are HCPL 3700 devices, that are especially suitable for manufacturing envirments.. The «safety» signals may be AC or DC es. The RP1 and RP2 resistors, mounted ctacts, are adjusted according to the sensibility of the chosen input. The CP1 and CP2 capacitors are used to filter those inputs. C.2. Cnecti to the process The STB 520 is cnected to the process through plug-in terminals. These terminals accommodate wire size 1.5mm². 12 C.3. Logic power supply The STB 520 requires a + 5V logic power-supply. The power supply may be provided : The two terminals designed for that purpose (recommended cnecti) The coupler board, using pins 1 and 50 of P1, provided the length between the board and the terminal block does not exceed 1.5m. C.4. Indicators The relay state is indicated LEDs: Two LEDs are used to inform the user of the presence of the 5V voltage in groups V0 - V15 and V16 - V31. One LED indicates the presence of the + 5V voltage. 10
