1 APPLICATION CALL N 1 VIDEO MAPPING INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY Rencontres Audiovisuelles, the DeVisu laboratory of the University of Valenciennes and Arenberg Creative Mine, with the support of the region Hauts-de-France, the European Union, the ERDF programme, and the city of Wallers- Arenberg, join together to propose a research and thematic creation residency about video mapping. CONCERNED PUBLIC This application call is adressed to artists that are scriptwriters, filmmakers, museographs, stage designers, animation artists, game designers, developers, sound designers, musicians, etc, from anywhere in the world. OBJECTIVE The aim of those residencies, through the creation made by an artist or a group of artists, is to experiment new forms of writing (animation) movies, spatialized and contextualized. It is also to experiment new technological devices. THEMATICS The theme of this application call n 1 is the promotion of the common heritage (architectural heritage, museum collections, context of presentation of the artistic works, collection mediation, museography ). It can consist in monument video mapping, inside architecture, or object video mapping. The artists, with the help of the organisers, can choose as a support a building in the region Hauts-de-France, a mobile object, or an object exposed in a museum or in any location in the region. The writing can be linear, generative or interactive. DURATION The duration of the residences is from 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the projects. They may be completed in one or two times, between December 2017 and March SCREENING The works produced in those residencies will be screened during the Video Mapping Festival, which first edition will be held in March of They will aim the general public and also international professionals. CULTURAL ACTION Residents commit, if need be, to participate in a cultural activity of a half-day minimum, in connection with the inhabitants or local professionals. For instance: a meeting with students from a school in the territory, about their work and their approach.

2 ACCOMPANIMENT, TOOLS The residents will benefit from:. the access to production and post-production tools of Arenberg Creative Mine (see the annex for further details),. the management of technical and human means for the screening of the creation and its communication,. the accompaniment of a researcher specialised in video mapping for the writing process and the arrangement of the technological devices,. the accompaniement of a researcher for an analytic work of public reception, during the testing screenings if needed, and during the public screening,. the possible support of one or two animation artists, 2D or 3D, for the production of the images,. a video recording during the public screening. RECEPTION CONDITIONS. Accommodation on the site of Arenberg Creative Mine.. Transport management.. Flat rate for the meals.. French work agreement on a basis of 2000 gross per month (adapted to the duration of the residency) per person. An application from a collective is limited to 4000 gross. RIGHTS. The creation is the property of the creators.. The creators commit to collaborating with the researchers and facilitate their work.. From the moment the convention is signed, the creators give their agreement to the DeVisu laboratory of the University of Valenciennes and to the Rencontres Audiovisuelles for the recording, the representation and the reproduction of their work in any form, without any limitation of duration, for research, scientific communication and cultural communication purposes.. The creators commit to mention in any communication in relation with their work the following sentence: realised during the Video Mapping European Center artistic residency Rencontres Audiovisuelles, DeVisu laboratory of the University of Valenciennes, Arenberg Creative Mine production. HOW TO APPLY The applying file must contain the following elements:. CV of the candidates,. portfolio/book, web links of videos showing the former productions of the candidates,. a covering letter,. a note proposing a number of weeks of residency and their time organisation (in one or two times), the amount of persons in the case of the application of a collective, mentioning the periods of non-availability,. the location, for the management of the transport. The applications are limited to the 27th October The results will be released at the end of November Selection The selection board will be made up of representatives of the organising structures (Arenberg Creative Mine, the DeVisu laboratory of the University of Valenciennes, Rencontres Audiovisuelles), and possibly, on invitation, of personalities of video mapping, of animation movies, of numeric arts and of videogames. 3 ANNEX 1 PRESENTATION OF THE VIDEO MAPPING EUROPEAN CENTER The international video mapping residency takes place within the framework of the Video Mapping European Center. The aim of the Video Mapping European Center is to support the international development of video mapping, especially in the region Hauts-de-France. It condenses research activities, training courses, and video mapping creation and screening supporting operations. The project is coordinated by the Rencontres Audiovisuelles. The DeVisu laboratory of the University the Valenciennes is responsible of the research dimension of the project which takes place, together with the residencies in the Arenberg Creative Mine site. The site is renowned for its excellence regarding digital media and image creation. RESEARCH Studies regarding the field, the writings and the technological devices. Analysis of the public feedback. TRAINING. Métiers des Nouvelles Images / Grande École du Numérique: Youth employment initiative programme: aimed at young people aged 18 to 25 (without training, unemployed) wanting to benefit from a training.. Euranim: Training in video mapping for European Higher Education Animation Institutions.. Professional training: Training for professionals already active in the fields of animation, audiovisual, digital arts, etc. wanting to complete their skills. RESIDENCY Residencies joining together regional and international artists as well as researchers. The aim is to produce productions that explore the different areas of video mapping. EVENTS. Video Mapping Festival Important international video mapping event: seminar and creations screening.. Video Mapping Contest International annual competition organised in Lille, in September, within the framework of the European Heritage Days. PRODUCTION Loom Prod, video mapping production cooperative company, a mutualised tool serving new talents supported by the Video Mapping European Center. Loom Prod responds to video mapping production requests in France and abroad.

4 ANNEX 2 PRESENTATION OF THE LOCATION OF THE RESIDENCY: ARENBERG CREATIVE MINE All the info: arenberg-m inec reative.fr A. Delencre Famous since the shooting of the Germinal movie from Claude Berri, the mine site Wallers-Arenberg is currently part of the Mining Area World Heritage of UNESCO. Running from 1903 to 1989, it has been one of the leading mine productions of the North of France. It favored the development around the mining city and created infrastructures related to the life of the workers: schools, a church, a communal house it is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Since 2006, the Porte du Hainaut, together with the University of Valenciennes, notably with its research laboratory DeVisu specialized in Audiovisual Design, has reconverted the site witch is now dedicated to the image in all its aspects. A vast project produced within the Pictanovo program and coherent with the reconversion of the other sites related to the history of mining in the region. Inaugurated the 25 September 2015, the site is now called the Arenberg Creative Mine, and is renowned for its excellence regarding Digital Images and Media. Disposing of state of the art equipment (production and postproduction) amongst which some previously unknown to the region, it benefits from a concentration of technical means that, combined with the natural setting and the DeVisu Installations, make it a one of a kind place in Europe. Devoted to audiovisual production, professional events as well as tourism, it is attended by a large public: directors, enterprises, event agencies, students, researchers, tourists and general public

6 THE PLATEAU TV The plateau TV is a studio measuring approximately 120 m2 (1300 FT2), equipped with a cyclorama (wood, 3 faces + floor, length 9 m x 9 m x 9 m, height 4.5 m, non-removable) which can be occulted by a black curtain. It is equipped with a NEC 4K Projector and a 7.1 sound system. There is no daylight indoors and the seats are retractable so the room can serve as a reception or projection room as well as a film studio. EQUIPMENT Sound:.
