4 Introduction Why do you need enhanced Integrated Solutions? Today s information systems are often built around a data network, which is increasingly required to support a wide variety of applications. Current network development is focussing on Quality of Service, which is required to enable different types of information to be transported. The goal is to avoid congestion from becoming a critical problem for delay-sensitive applications such as voice and video. 7 Cables LANmark-5 LANmark-5 is an enhanced cable designed to provide additional performance and bandwidth over and above the basic requirements of Category 5e. It exceeds the latest, most stringent ISO proposals due for publication in 2001 and is specified to 155 MHz to ensure the stability required to support applications using the central crosstalk cancellation techniques at frequencies above 100 MHz. When combined with a LANmark Cat 6 Patchcord the LANmark-6 Snap-in connector exceeds the requirements of the Cat6/Class E draft (ISO/IEC/WG3 N568) with considerable headroom, even using worst case 4-connector channel configurations. As such it supports all data applications defined for Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6, such as 10baseT, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 155 ATM etc. The unique cross (C 3 ) technology in the connector ensures the high performance of all parameters. The LANmark-6 Snap-in connector is a toolless connector which is designed to enable all 8 wires to be terminated quickly without the need for a punch-down tool, allowing fast and reliable installation. There are two different faceplates to support all environments : The straight version The angled version protects the patchcord. 11 Connectivity Non-Modular PCB Connectivity LANmark-6 PCB Outlet, Angled The angled LANmark-6 PCB outlet is designed to be integrated into structural hardware at the workplace. It is available in screened and unscreened versions for two connectors. The angled LANmark-6 outlet, when mated with a Nexans Cat6 Plug, exceeds the requirements of the current latest Cat6 and ClassE drafts (ISO/IEC/WG3 N568) with large headroom. As such it supports all data and voice applications and future applications defined for Class D and Class E, including for example : 10baseT, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM... and future Gigabit applications. The use of patch guides (available separately) allows an orderly arrangement of the patchcords. The LANmark-6 connector has been designed to reach the highest performance in Cat6. This patch panel is available in screened and unscreened versions and features Nexans DH8 IDC contacts. 16 Voice range The Voice Range is designed for integration of the voice network into the LAN and for backbone use. Multipair copper cables can be terminated on the 10 pairs IDC blocks. The Cat 5 IDC block is of the disconnecting type and tested up to 100 MHz. 19 Patch Panels and Frames are available to house the IDC blocks. Using the correct patch cords, cross-connects can be made to backbone or horizontal cabling segments. 22 GG 45, ready for the Multi-Gigabit LAN generation Nexans Cabling Solutions stays at the forefront of technological development. It even takes the lead in developing the next generation cat 7 standard, making it fully compatible with the existing Cat6. Both ClassD/Cat5e and ClassE/Cat6 are based on RJ45 connectivity. The Nexans developed GG45 interface meets the key industry requirement of full backward compatibility. The GG45 connectivity range will allow for the next generation ClassF/Cat7 connectivity to achieve full interoperability with the installed RJ45 base. Today, more than 90% of the installed base is RJ45 class D based. Current Gigabit applications are already stretching the capacity of this installed base.
