1 Model 0 MegaPower II WIP Matrix Switching System Installation and Operating Instructions his manual describes the installation and operating procedures for the American Dynamics model 0 MegaPower II WIP Matrix Switching System. he 0 MegaPower II WIP System is designed as an integrated matrix switching and control system for CCV surveillance systems having multiple cameras, multiple monitors, and multiple control stations. he 0 Systems consist of one or more matrix switching bays, each with its power supply module, data receiver/buffer module, the required video input modules (VIM), video output modules (VOM), and appropriate rear panels.

7 GENERAL DESCRIPION GENERAL DESCRIPION he 0 MegaPower II WIP System is an integrated matrix switching and control system for CCV surveillance systems. It is capable of controlling a maximum of video input sources such as cameras, and video outputs such as monitors and video tape recorders. he 0 system consists of one or more matrix switching bays, each with its power supply module, a data receiver/buffer module, the required video input modules (VIM), video output modules (VOM), and appropriate rear panels. All 0 systems are controlled with an internal Central Processor Module, 0CPM, and one or more keyboards. 0 MegaPower II WIP Systems are supplied as completely configured switching bays. Only the bay interconnections, the CPU connections, the video input and output connections, and any optional accessory connections need be made prior to operation. he 0 system, as delivered, is a complete system with all inputs terminated in ohms. Each bay is packed in a separate shipping carton labeled with the 0 bay assembly number on the outside of the carton. Matrix Switching Bays 0 MegaPower II WIP System bays are supplied in the following two configurations: Standard (Model 00R) and Condensed (Model 00R). he 00R and 00R switching bays include the physical chassis, a back plane, a power supply module, and a data receiver. Each bay has the capability of looping the DAA LE input and looping an external vertical synchronization pulse to other bays. Each bay also accommodates a combination of video input modules and video output modules, up to a total of modules. Power: 0 watts (full system) Size: 0-/" height. Full-width " rack mount Weight: 0 lbs. ( kg) (full system) Keyboards All 0 system setup and control functions are accessible through keyboards connected to the 0CPM. Several keyboards are available for use with a 0 system: 0 - A full-function system operation and programming keyboard with pushbutton lens control and vector solving joystick for pan/tilt movement. It is available as a desktop or rack mount unit. CM - A full-function system operation and programming keyboard with pushbutton lens control and vector solving joystick for pan/tilt movement. It is available as a desktop or rack mount unit. - An operator desktop or rack mounted model with pushbutton lens and pan/tilt control. B - An operator -monitor keyboard (desktop only) with pushbutton lens control and joystick for pan/tilt movement. Executive models without pan/tilt and lens controls are available for all versions (Suffix E on model numbers). Optional Equipment he following separate units may be connected to the 0 system for added capabilities. 8 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION SYSEM MODULES he following pages describe the plug-in modules available for 0 switching bays. hese include: Power Supply Module, 00PS Central Processing Module, 0CPM Data Buffer Module, 00DB Video Loss Detection Data Buffer Module, 00DBVL Video Input Module, 0VIM Video Output Module, 0VOM Master Date ime Module, 0MD Power Supply Module - 00PS he power supply module for the matrix switching bay converts AC power to the necessary DC voltages which are supplied to all the modules in the switching bay. Front Panel Figure illustrates the 00PS controls described below. - SYNC ES ON/OFF LED: his red LED is illuminated when the SE UP/NORMAL switch (below) is in the SE UP position. - SE UP/NORMAL SWICH: When set to the SE UP position, this switch implements sync test and adjustment. (See Power Supply Setup, page 0.) - SYNC LOSS LED: his red LED is off if video sync is locked. When illuminated, it indicates that sync is not locked due either to a poor sync signal, no sync signal, or the wrong sync signal (as determined by the setting of the sync selection switch below). - SYNC REFERENCE SELECION SWICH: his switch selects one of three video sync references: EX V-DRIVE (Up position): Selects the external vertical drive pulse input on the rear panel (EX SYNC ). EX CAM (Center position): Selects composite video. AC LE (Down position): Selects the AC line. - SYNC PHASE ADJUSMEN: his potentiometer, accessed thru the hole in the front panel of the Power Supply, adjusts the phase of the sync pulse with respect to the selected reference. When the sync test switch is set to SE UP, a horizontal trace line is displayed on Monitor, showing the location of the sync pulse with respect to the picture. (See Power Supply Setup, page 0.) - + VDC AND - VDC LED's: hese green LED's, when illuminated, indicate the presence of DC voltages (Note: For the 0 VAC systems, the output voltages are +/- VDC). - POWER ON/OFF SWICH: his switch is used to apply power to the bay. When the switch is in the ON position, a green light is illuminated behind the Power On/Off Switch. Rear Panel Figure illustrates the connections described below. - SERIAL # AG: Serial number assigned to this 0 switching bay. - DAA LE BNC s : Input for DAA LE from CPU or other bays. : Looping output for DAA LE to other bays or equipment. his line must be terminated with a -ohm terminator. 0- EXERNAL SYNC BNC s : Input for external vertical synchronous pulse, either camera sync or an externally created sync pulse. EXERNAL SYNC : Looping output for EX SYNC. his line must be terminated with a -ohm terminator. Fusing: Four replaceable fuses are located on the power supply circuit board. 10 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Central Processing Module - 0CPM he 0CPM Central Processing Module controls the switching bays of the 0 MegaPower II WIP System, controls the remote pan/tilt/lens functions at camera sites, and provides the programming menus for 0 system setup. Refer to the System Programming Manual, OP0SPA, for instructions on setup and programming the 0 MegaPower II WIP System. he rear panel of the 0CPM, Figure, provides several different control and communications ports for connection to keyboards, programming monitor, alarm interface units, other 0 bays, and similar control devices. Refer to Powering Up, page, for the 0CPM Front Panel controls, Figure. Control Ports Eight -pin, modular RJ control ports, labeled PORS through, are provided on the rear panel of the 0CPM for RS-C control communications. he 0CPM receives control and alarm inputs from keyboards, external computers, alarm interface units, or video loss detection modules via the control ports. he 0CPM can transmit ASCII-coded, printable messages to a serial, RS-C printer via one control port. System setup data can be uploaded and/or downloaded via an RS-C control port using the optional PC-based software package, 0SW. Data Line Output A data line output on the rear panel of the 0CPM, labeled DAA LE, is used to transmit control instructions to other 0 system bays. he data line is used to control video switching of video inputs to video outputs. Data Lines may be looped through multiple 0 input and output bays. he Data Line outputs also provide control information for camera site Receivers to control pan/tilts, motorized lenses, auxiliaries, and presets at the site. he 0 Code Generator can be used to convert this data to Control Code or RS- code for control of American Dynamics Receivers. Programming Monitor Output All the features of the 0 system are programmable through the menus generated by the 0CPM. he menus are displayed via a separate video output BNC, labeled PGM, located on the rear of the 0CPM. his video output may be connected to a separate monitor or connected back into the video switching system for display on any system monitor. POR When a Video Loss Detector module is connected to a port, each video loss message sent to this port from the 00DBVL module generates an output message to a serial printer via the PRER port. Multiple 00DBVL modules can be connected to one port using the Port Expander. Each of the control ports may be programmed for a specific use, such as Keyboard, erminal, Alarm, Video Loss, or Printer. Each port is configured to receive ASCII commands via RS- protocol and is programmable for baud rate, number of data bits, number of stop bits, and type of parity. As shipped, all 0CPM control ports are configured for use as Keyboard ports, with data bits, no parity, stop bit, and 00 baud rate. o change these defaults, follow the instructions in the 0 System Programming Manual, OP0SPA. 11 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Data Buffer Module - 00DB he Data Buffer Module serves a dual purpose. First, it distributes switched video, from the bay's Video Input Modules, to other bays in multiple bay systems. he video observed from these outputs contain no alphanumeric character information, only standard video. he second purpose of the Data Buffer is to filter incoming system information from the DAA LE. Filtering is performed to allow for the passage of localized information. Icon Definition: he is the video/interconnect symbol for connecting switched video among the matrix switching bays. 12 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Video Loss Detection Data Buffer Module - 00DBVL he Video Loss Detector Data Buffer Module provides the same capabilities as the 00DB Data Buffer Module, with one significant addition. First, it distributes switched input video, with no character information, to multiple bay systems. It also filters incoming information from the DAA LE to allow for the passage of localized information. he third and primary function of this module is to detect the presence of a video signal for each camera input. When a loss of video or sync in the input signal is detected, a video loss message is transmitted from the 00DBVL via an RS- connector. An alarm contact is also provided from this connector. Each module can detect video loss for a maximum of cameras. For a full 0 matrix switching system of cameras, two 00DBVL modules are required, one for each block of cameras. he 00DBVL module should be placed in the matrix switching bay that is connected to the highest numbered monitor output, and this bay must contain Video Input Modules. he 00DBVL cannot be used in a switching bay that does not include Video Input Modules. Front Panel he front panel of the 00DBVL provides indicator LED's that illuminate if a video or sync loss is detected, and indicate the SYNC and VIDEO content of the video input signal being monitored. See Figure for location of these LED's. he five LED s indicate the following: ALARM - illuminates when there is a loss of video or sync on the video input SYNC - indicates the presence of a sync signal in the video input VIDEO LEVEL H - indicates High video content of the video input VIDEO LEVEL M - indicates Medium video content of the video input VIDEO LEVEL L - indicates Low video content of the video input ALARM SYNC indicates Video or Sync Loss indicates Sync present VIDEO LEVEL H M L indicates High video content indicated Medium video content indicates Low video content Figure 00DBVL Front Panel LED Indicators

13 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Rear Panels he 00DBVL rear panel has video output BNC's for connection to Video Output Modules, and one -pin, RJ type RS- connector for Video Loss Detection data output and Alarm Contact output to an Alarm Interface Unit. Figures 0 through show the various types of rear panels of the Video Loss Detector Data Buffer module. Connect the RS- output to a port on the 0CPM module to provide proper response by the 0CPM to each video loss occurrence. An alarm contact is also provided by this connector. his output provides a logic-level closure, in accordance with the Alarm Contact mode set for the module (page ). hese pins can be connected to alarm contact inputs of a 0 Alarm Interface Unit. 14 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Video Input Modules - 0VIM he 0VIM performs the actual video switching in the 0 switching bay. Each module can switch any one of video inputs to any video output, or multiple combinations of video outputs, up to. he video inputs to the module are connected at the rear panel associated with the video input module. he switched video outputs are provided to the Video Output Modules and the Data Buffer Module in the bay. here are three different types of rear panels, shown below. Icon Definition: he following icon denotes video inputs. he 0VIM-, as seen in Figure, has BNC connectors for video inputs. he number next to each BNC reflects the actual input number. he 0VIM-, Figure, has eight BNC connectors for the upper group of eight video inputs, and one -pin connector. he number next to the BNC reflects the actual input number. his module is paired with 0VIM-, below. Each 0VIM- includes one conductor coaxial video cable for connection to the 0VIM-. he third rear panel, 0VIM-, Figure, has eight BNC connectors for the lower group of eight cameras, to complete the larger group of video inputs with 0VIM-, and two -pin connectors. he number next to the BNC reflect the actual input number. 15 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Video Output Module - 0VOM he 0VOM (Video Output Module) creates the titles and alphanumeric displays that are added to the video output. Each module has four video outputs on its rear panel for four separate switched outputs. Front Panel Front panel controls on the Video Output Module adjust the brightness, vertical, and horizontal position for each title displayed on each of the four video outputs. he -position rotary switch on the front panel governs which output you control. he front panel LED blinks to verify proper operation of the 0VOM. See Figure below. Further details on operation of these controls is provided in the Video Output Module SEUP description, page. Rear Panels he 0VOM- rear panel, as seen in Figure, has BNC connectors. he bottom four BNC s are the switched video outputs containing system titles. he upper two groups, each containing four BNC s, are for interconnection of video inputs from other matrix switching bays in the system. hese groups are identified by the following icons: Switched video inputs from cameras -. 16 SYSEM MODULES DESCRIPION Master Date ime Module - 0MD he 0MD Master Date ime Module provides looping connection of the video input signals and insertion of system ime and Date information on the video output connections. hese modules are used with dedicated inputs for dedicated outputs, and do not perform any inter-bay switching. he 0MD has four looping video inputs and four separate video outputs with system time and date information. Front Panel he 0MD front panel controls the brightness, vertical, and horizontal position for each title displayed on each of the four video outputs. he -position rotary switch governs which output is selected for control. he LED blinks to verify proper operation of the 0MD. he front panel controls operate identical to those on the 0VOM module, see Figure on page. Further details on operation of these controls is provided in the Video Output Module SEUP description, page. Rear Panels he 0MD rear panel, shown in Figure, has BNC connectors and handles four separate video input channels: A, B, C, and D. he bottom four BNC's are video outputs which contain time and date information from the system Data Line interface. he upper four groups of BNC's are for video inputs from matrix switching bays and looping outputs to other video equipment, such as VCR's. Each BNC pair in the upper groups is an unterminated looping connection. If the video is to be terminated in the 0 module, and not looped to additional equipment via the paired BNC, a -ohm terminating cap must be connected to the paired input BNC. -ohm terminating caps are supplied for the looping BNC connectors. If any video input is looped to another video device, ensure that the line is terminated properly in ohms. he video output connections from the bottom four BNC's on each 0 module must be terminated in ohms. Setup Switches he 0MD module PCB card contains jumpers that are set to identify the monitors that the video output is being directed to. hese are factory set for monitors one, two three and four. 0

17 SALLAION SALLAION his installation should be made by qualified service personnel and should conform to all local codes. Safeguards must be taken to avoid unintentional operation by employees and personnel working about the premises, by falling objects, by customers, by building vibration, and by similar causes. Power Sources System models with an R or D suffix are configured for use with a 0V, 0/0 Hz primary power source; models with an ADS prefix and an X suffix are configured for a 0V, 0/0 Hz primary power source. All 0 V units are supplied with a pendant -wire cord and plug for mating to the primary source outlet. All 0 V units are supplied with a Euro style IEC 0 type inlet. A suitable detachable cord should be connected between the IEC 0 inlet and the power source. he cord should conform to all national and local use code requirements. DO NO PHYSICALLY CONNEC EQUIPMEN O HE POWER SOURCE UNIL POWERG UP PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN COMPLEED. Mounting Bays are manufactured for standard -inch rack mounting and have a rack height of 0 /-inches, or one rack-unit wide by rack-units high (see Figure 0). Bays must be installed with a minimum of /-inch clearance between each bay (one rack unit). It is the responsibility of the installer to insure proper airflow around the bays to provide adequate ventilation. In multiple bay configurations, identify the various bays carefully before mounting. In all multiple bay systems, place the video inputs near the top of the racks. General Each installation should be made in a planned and orderly manner. he operation of each piece of equipment should be confirmed as early as possible during the installation procedure. It is easier to remove a few temporary connections after a confirmation check than it is to disconnect and re-wire a large number of permanent connections. 18 CONNECIONS CONNECIONS All system connections are made on the rear panels of the 0 system bays. Refer to the Appendix for illustrations of typical 0 system connections. Note: All internal switch settings on the modules should be made before system connections are started (see SEUP, pages - 0). Ensure that all connections are properly completed before applying power. o facilitate maintenance and assist in service, all connecting cables should be identified with source/destination numbers. Video Connections Video inputs, such as cameras, are connected to the BNC s of the 0VIM modules, and video outputs, such as monitors, are connected to the BNC s of the 0VOM modules. In multiple-bay systems, video interconnections are made from the 00DB/DBVL modules to the 0VOM modules in other bays, and between the 0VIM- and - modules in separate bays. Connections for several typical System Configurations are described in pages through. Refer the Appendix for illustrations of various system connections. All video connections should be made using a good grade, - ohm, RG-U video cable (Belden or equivalent). All video outputs must be terminated in ohms at the last unit in the run. Intermediate units must be set to HiZ termination. If the run is not terminated, a brighter picture than desired will be displayed. Conversely, if the run is double terminated, a darker picture than desired will be displayed. Data Line Connections A data line output on the rear panel of the 0CPM, labeled DAA LE, is provided to transmit switching and control instructions to other 0 system bays. Data Lines are looped through the input and the output bays of the 0 Series MegaPower WIP Matrix Switching Bays. he Data Line outputs also provide control information for camera site Receivers to control pan/tilts, motorized lenses, auxiliaries, and presets at the site. he 0 Code Generator can be used to convert this data to Control Code or RS- code for control of American Dynamics Receivers. Data Lines are looped through the 0 units in a similar manner as the 0 switching bays. Use -ohm video cable with BNC connectors. he last bay or unit in the Data Line must be terminated in ohms at the Data Line Out connector (use a -ohm terminator). RS-C Control Port Connections Eight -pin, modular RJ control ports are provided on the the 0CPM rear panel for all control connections. One -pin erminal Box (HP00, Figure, page ) and one -foot modular cable (JJ000) are provided for each 0CPM control port for RS-C connections to these ports. A compatible RS- device (such as the 0 Alarm Interface Unit) can be connected directly to a 0CPM control port using the supplied modular cable (JJ000) if the connection distance between the 0CPM and the device is less than seven feet. If the distance exceeds feet, RS- devices are connected to 0CPM control ports using the supplied -pin erminal Box (HP00). he pin definitions for the 0CPM erminal Box pins are provided in the table below. All American Dynamics equipment, including the 0CPM ports, are configured as DE devices. For DE-to-DE communications between an RS- device and a 0CPM control port: Connect the ransmit (XMI) pin of the RS- device to Receive (RCD) of the 0CPM port. Connect the Receive (RCD) pin of the RS- device ransmit (XMI) of the 0CPM port. Connect the Ground (GND) pin of the RS- device to GND of the 0CPM port. RS-C cable shield connections are made at the connectors or erminal Boxes attached to the 0CPM controller only. he maximum cable length between the erminal Box and any external RS- device is 000 ft. (0 m) using -AWG, shielded cable (Belden 0 or equivalent). Where the distance is over 000 feet, RS-C connections require a link using either asynchronous line drivers over dedicated cables, short-haul modems over dedicated phone lines, or dial-up modems over conventional telephone lines.

19 CONNECIONS Programming Monitor Connection All features of the 0 system are programmable through onscreen menus generated by the 0CPM. he Programming Monitor output, PGM, may be connected to a separate, dedicated monitor or connected back into the video switching system for display on any system monitor. Use -ohm video cable with BNC connectors. he PGM video output line must be terminated in ohms. P P P P P P P P 00DBVL RS-C Connections One -pin erminal Box (HP00, Figure ) and one -foot modular cable (JJ000) are provided with each 00DBVL module for RS-C connections. he 00DBVL RS- port is connected to an RS- control port on the 0CPM module. he 0CPM control port must be set for VIDEO LOSS use to respond to the video loss messages from the 00DBVL. he ports can be connected using the supplied modular cable (JJ000) if the connection distance between the 00DBVL and the 0CPM is no further than feet, and if the Alarm Contact pins of the 00DBVL port are not used. Figure - HP00 erminal Box Where multiple 00DBVL modules are used in systems with over cameras, a port expander is required to connect these modules to the 0CPM. he 00DBVL-x module must be connected to port A of the and 00DBVL-x to port B. Video loss detection will not operate unless all modules are connected to the 0CPM. 00DBVL Alarm Output Connections Pins and of the 00DBVL port provide a logic-level alarm closure, in accordance with the Alarm Contact mode set for the module (page ). hese pins can be connected to alarm contact inputs of a 0 Alarm Interface Unit. For proper connection of the 00DBVL erminal Box to an Alarm Contact input: Connect the Alarm Contact, pin, of the 00DBVL erminal Box to the A input of the 0. Connect the Alarm Contact Ground, pin, of the 00DBVL erminal Box to the ground of the 0. Refer to the 0 Alarm Interface Unit Installation Manual for further instructions on connections to that unit.

20 SEUP SEUP Internal Switches All modules of the 0 system are factory set for the proper operation, in accordance with the configuration of the system. here are several internal switches and jumpers on these modules which control different modes of operation. During normal use of the 0 system, these switches do not need resetting. If a module is replaced, or the system configuration is altered, some switches or jumpers may need to be reset. All switch and jumper settings are made on the Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) of the respective modules. he module must be removed from the 0 chassis to access these switches and jumpers. For any switch settings, all modules are accessed from the front of the 0 chassis. CAUION - Due to the presence of non-insulated components with hazardous voltages, the following internal adjustments should be performed by qualified service personnel only. o access a module for changing switch or jumper settings:. Remove power from the 0 system bay.. Remove the front panel from the 0 system bay.. Gently, pull out, from the chassis, the module which is to be reset.. Set the appropriate switches, in accordance with the instructions in the following pages.. Re-insert the module in the chassis slot. Ensure that the module is seated fully into the chassis backplane.. Reattach the front panel to the 0 bay.. Reapply power to the system. Certain Setup procedures in the following pages do not require module removal. hese are the 0VOM Horizontal, Vertical and Brightness Adjustments, page, and the 00PS Power Supply Vertical Phase Adjustment, page 0. For these procedures, the modules are accessed from the rear panel of the 0 bays, without removing the front panel. 0CPM Central Processing Module Switches here are two jumpers and one DIP switch on the 0CPM module. he location of these on the 0CPM PCB is illustrated in Figure. DIP Switch S is factory set for the proper video output of the the 0CPM menu display (via the PGM output). Switch position must be set to OFF for RS-0 standard video (0 model) or to ON for PAL standard video (0X model). he 0CPM can transmit switching control information both via the backplane of the chassis, and via the DAA LE BNC. However, if a 00DBVL module is in the chassis with the 0CPM, or if two CPM s are in the same chassis, the backplane cannot be used by the 0CPM for control data. A -position jumper switch, labeled J, is set to allow or disable the 0CPM use of the chassis backplane. If the 0CPM module can use the backplane, this jumper must be in the BP position, allowing the module to provide control data via the chassis backplane. If a 00DBVL module is in this chassis, or there are two 0CPM modules in the chassis, the jumper must not be in the BP position, to prevent data transmission on the backplane. he battery backup on the 0CPM provides saving of all system programming information at power off of the 0 system. A -position jumper switch, labeled J, is set to allow the battery save function, or to disable it. his is factory set to the BA SAVE position, which provides battery backup. o disable the battery backup feature, move this jumper to the opposite position. he next time that the 0 system is powered up, then powered off, all programmed information will be lost. 21 SEUP 00DB Data Buffer Module Switches he 00DB Data Buffer Module serves a dual purpose. First, it sends video to the monitors and second, it filters incoming information from the high speed LAN line. Filtering is accomplished with two -position DIP switches, S and S. Switch position of switch S turns the filter ON or OFF. If S is set to ON, all information passes and S does not have to be set. If S is set to OFF, only specified information passes and S must be set. he S switch allows only the necessary information to pass for that particular bay. In the Condensed Bay configuration, or when a bay contains 0VOM monitor modules, the filter is set such that all information passes. herefore, position of switch S is set to ON. For all other configurations the filter is set such that information is filtered, thus position of switch S is set to OFF and S must be set accordingly. his applies to bays which contain only 0 VIM camera modules. he Data Buffer Module also has a -position slide switch, S. S switches the card into either a normal mode or test mode. S should be kept at the normal position. Figure shows the location of these switches on the 00DB PCB card. able - S and S switch settings =On; 0=Off; X=Don't care Switch S Filter Pass all information (S ON) 0XXXXXX Pass only specified information (S OFF) 0 0XXXXXX Note: S must be set to pass all information (ON) in bays which contain 0VOM monitor modules. 22 SEUP 00DBVL Video Loss Detector Data Buffer Module Switches he 00DBVL (Video Loss Detector Data Buffer Module) is similar to the 00DB, with the added capability of video loss detection for each camera of the bay. A video loss detection message is transmitted via the RS- port on the 00DBVL rear panel. A logic-level Alarm Contact is also provided from this port (see connector pinouts, page ). he 00DBVL is configured with a -position slide switch, S, and three -position DIP switches: S, S, and S. S is set for normal/test mode, as described for the 00DB module. DIP switch S sets the filtering mode (as described for the 00DB, page ), the Alarm Contact mode, and the RS- port baud rate. Switch position of S must be set to ON for the module to function as a Video Loss Detection module. he Alarm Contact modes are: Alarm during Video or Sync Loss - he logic-level Alarm Contact is closed to ground and the ALARM LED on the 00DBVL front panel is illuminated when a sync or video loss is first detected, both remain on until the loss is cleared by the module. Alarm during loss, plus 0 seconds - he Alarm Contact is closed and the ALARM LED is first illuminated as above, but remains on for 0 seconds after the loss is cleared. Alarm at loss for 0 seconds - he logic-level Alarm Contact is closed to ground and the ALARM LED is first illuminated as above, but remains on for only 0 seconds. Alarm at loss for 0 seconds - he logic-level Alarm Contact is closed to ground and the ALARM LED is first illuminated as above, but remains on for 0 seconds. he baud rate setting of DIP switch S configures the port on the 00DBVL for the desired communications rate. DIP switch S must be set to the camera and monitor group numbers assigned to the switching bay modules. DIP switch S sets the type of communication used via the RS- port and enables or disables the 00DBVL front panel LED's. his port may be configured for RS-, RS-, or RS- communications. he following tables show the switch position settings for DIP switches S, S, and S. 23 SEUP 0VIM Video Input Module Switches he 0VIM (Video Input Module) performs the actual video switch. Each module can switch any one of video inputs to any video output, or multiple combinations of video outputs, up to. he 0 Video Input Module must be set to the cameras and monitors it is to respond to. here are two -position dip switches. DIP switch S is used to set all field configurations. he eight position DIP switch S, located on the circuit board, must be set to identify the camera and monitor group. he first two switches select one of two groups of monitors and the last six select one of groups of cameras. Switch settings are shown in able. he monitor group selection is independent of the camera group selection. Yet both monitor and camera group must be selected correctly depending on the particular slot the card is being placed in. Note: he labeling on the circuit board clearly shows the correct DIP switch to use. he word CAM GRP is adjacent to the correct DIP switch. he DIP switch S is not used in this module. 24 SEUP 0VOM Video Output Module Switches he 0VOM (Video Output Module) adds alphanumeric information in the form of titles and time and date to switched video from 0VIM modules. Each 0VOM card contains -pin jumpers and one -position DIP switch to set the monitor configuration (see Figure ). Four -pin jumpers for setting monitor identification are set at the back of the card (end with gold-plated connections). Each 0VOM can be set for monitors: - one, two, three, and four; or - five, six, seven, and eight; or - nine, ten, eleven, and twelve; or - thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen. here are no other combinations, only the four listed above. Note: he labeling on the 0VOM board shows which jumper is for which monitor; these are labeled M through M. When using more than monitors, subtract multiples of from the monitor number you want to set. For example, to set monitors -, subtract, to obtain monitors one through four (-=; -=, etc). For selection of video type, Phase Adjusted Line (PAL) or National elevision Systems Committee (NSC), locate the -position jumper terminal near the center edge of the board. Position the plastic -pin jumper to the appropriate location. For selection of bay configuration (Standard or Condensed), locate the -position jumper terminal near the center of the two gold connectors. All 00R ( standard ) bays are configured with the jumper position set to standard bay. All 00R, or 00R ( condensed ) bays are configured with the jumper position set to condensed bay. Switch settings are dependent on the slot location in the matrix bay as well as which matrix bay the card is located. Switch settings are shown in ables a, b, and. able shows the first four switches of S, which identifies the video inputs. If the 0VOM board is located in a matrix switching bay that includes 0VIM video input boards, its video inputs are considered internal and table a is used. 25 SEUP 0VOM Video Output Module - Horizontal, Vertical, and Brightness Adjustment he 0VOM has four video outputs each with title information displayed on the video picture. he title information on the screen is adjustable for horizontal and vertical position. he brightness of the characters is also adjustable. he rotary switch located on the front panel of each output module selects which output will be adjusted. he H, V and B pushbuttons are used to adjust the desired setting. See Figure for location of these controls. he video output title to be controlled is selected from the rotary switch labeled A.. D. o select the first video output, turn the rotary switch to position A. o select the second video output for title adjustment, move the rotary switch clockwise one position. Proceed in this manner for the final two video outputs. D.. A Blinking LED for proper operation -position rotary switch After selecting one of the four outputs, press the H pushbutton. he title shifts to the right until the pushbutton is released. Note: If the pushbutton is not released, the title will reach an end point and return to the left-most position and begin to shift to the right again. After the proper horizontal position has been selected, depress the V pushbutton. he title will shift downward until the pushbutton is released. Horizontal control push button H V Vertical control push button B Brightness control push button Figure - Video Output Module Front Panel Note: If the pushbutton is not released, the title will reach the bottom of the screen, as defined by the vertical sync, move to the top of the screen, and begin to shift down again. After the proper horizontal and vertical positions have been selected, proceed to the brightness control. he characters of the title are white with a black border. his enhances visibility under varying light conditions. he brightness control provides eight steps of white levels to change the characters from white to black. o change the brightness of the titles, depress the B pushbutton. he title steps through each level until the pushbutton is released. he video output rotary switch may be placed to any position when title adjustment is completed.

26 SEUP 00PS Power Supply - Vertical Phase Adjustment he matrix switching bays are designed as vertical interval switchers, thus giving the matrix switching bay the ability to switch between properly phased video inputs without producing a vertical roll, or a black bar, between each video switch. Use of this feature allows vertical interval switching to be controlled by the AC Line (Line Locked ), External Vertical Drive (Generator Locked), or Composite video input.. AC LE: he most common form of synchronization is AC line lock of the vertical switching point. o use this feature, switch the Sync Reference Selection switch to AC LE (see Figure on page ). his will use the AC (either 0 or 0 Hz) line to determine the vertical timing. If all video inputs use the same phase of AC power to determine the vertical timing, no roll will appear. As an aid to the installer, a switch on the Power Supply Module is available to check the vertical switch location for each video input. his function is initiated when the SE UP/NORMAL switch is selected to the SE UP position. A. Connect a monitor to the top most BNC of the 00DB-00 labeled est/expansion Only, or the first monitor output of any level VOM. If the monitor card is present, connect to the video output module monitor. If not, use the Data Buffer output #. B. From an external keyboard call input to output. C. Place the SE UP/NORMAL switch to the SE UP position. his implements the phase adjustment procedure. Note: he Sync est On/Off LED will be blinking when the sync test switch is in the SEUP position. Note that the alignment bar, displayed on output, shows the location of the vertical switch with respect to the picture. D. he phase adjustment potentiometer, accessed thru the hole in the front panel of the 00PS Power Supply, adjusts the phase of the vertical interval synchronization pulse for the switcher with respect to the selected reference. E. Adjust the position of the bar with a V alignment tool, or equivalent, by turning the phase potentiometer, until the line is located as seen in Figure. he line should be visible on the screen. in the previous camera, you will experience camera roll during switching operations to that camera. G. Repeat this for all video inputs to the system. Note: Before adjusting all of the video inputs, quickly scan all inputs to see if only a few are out of phase and adjust accordingly (input one may be the only oddball!). H. Once all cameras have been synchronized, place the SE UP/NORMAL switch to the NORMAL position. If multiple matrix switching bays are used, repeat steps A - H for each bay. he sync/test output for these bays is the top most output BNC located on each 00DB-XX rear panel at the first monitor of the bay, i.e., monitor -, etc.. EX V-DRIVE: If an external generator is used to control the vertical switching point, switch the Sync Reference Selection switch to EX V-DRIVE (external vertical drive). For proper operation, the output voltage of the generator should not exceed V peak-to-peak (p-p). Connect the drive output from the generator to the EX SYNC BNC located on the 00PS rear panel. Connect a -ohm terminator to the EX SYNC BNC. If other bays are used, loop the EX SYNC from input to output for all bays and terminate the last bay EX SYNC BNC in -ohms.. EX CAM: If composite video is used to control the vertical switching point, switch the Sync Reference Selection switch to EX CAM (external camera). For proper operation, the composite sync signal is specified at.v p-p. Connect the composite sync to the EX SYNC BNC located on the 00PS rear panel. Connect a -ohm terminator to the EX SYNC BNC. If other bays are used, loop the EX SYNC from input to output for all bays and terminate the last bay EX SYNC BNC in -ohms. Monitor alignment bar Once the alignment bar is set, no further adjustment to the potentiometer is necessary. F. Select the second video input in the system. If the horizontal bar is not in the same location as seen in Figure, adjust the sync location on the video device (i.e., video camera) until the horizontal bar is located towards the bottom of the screen.
