1 INTRODUCTION We hope you find this document useful in outlining the venue and equipment details of The Meteor. Hamilton City Theatres is part of the Hamilton City Council and venue managers of Founders Theatre, Clarence St Theatre and The Meteor. The Meteor 1 Victoria St CNR Victoria and Bridge streets PO Box 740 Hamilton Phone Theatre details The Meteor has two hireage spaces: The gallery and the main auditorium. Gallery 18 m x 6 m normally used as an exhibition, meeting or a foyer space. The Gallery is suitable for functions up to 100 (standing). This space includes gallery lighting bars. Auditorium m x m Height to steel grid and pipe work 5.2 m There is a lighting gallery situated upstairs overlooking the auditorium west side. Auditorium capacity Theatre seating mode with stage space - up to 220 There are four separate movable tiered seating risers, which hold 20 chairs each. Using these risers and chairs in rows approximately 220 patrons may be seated. (For best sightlines use max 200) The theatre has 250 chairs available. A variety of seating layouts is possible in the venue and some existing plans are available. Auditorium access Access can be facilitated from the workshop (north end) via large removable wall panels or single doors. Access to/ from the foyer/gallery is via three double exit doors. There are two exits to the west side into the bar / lounge area and one to Victoria St on the east side. Backstage facilities There is one single green room / lounge area only. Access There is access to the workshop and thus the auditorium via the Victoria Street entrance for larger vehicles. There is also access to the stage door via the alley to the east of the building off Bridge Street. Either access should only be used for un-loading and loading. They are not a car-park. The pay and display car-park to the north of the theatre is available for your use. 1

2 Equipment The following equipment is generally available, to ensure the appropriate equipment is available please forward the appropriate lighting, sound and rigging schedules well in advance of the booking. There are multi looms and cables available for patching to the dimmers. Dimmers are at grid level on the lighting gallery Sound There is no sound system installed but a small portable sound system is available (This needs to be booked ahead of time and may not always be available). General notes There are a reasonable number of alloy pipes of varying lengths that may be suspended from the grid to facilitate either lighting or curtain hanging. These may be placed in an almost infinite number of places or angles. All rigging must be supervised and approved by the duty Technician. A Genie GR 15 electric self propelled scissors hoist is usually available for focusing and rigging, maximum working height 5m, 150kg lift capacity. Standardcloths available 2 Black tab curtain 13.5m x 7.2m There are various black curtains available. The brick windows facing Victoria St have blackout curtains installed. Lighting filters We use the Lee numeric system in all our luminaries. We keep a good stock of Filters. 2

3 Additional Equipment available Please advise us of your equipment requirements as early as possible as stock and availability vary depending on event schedule and demand. If the equipment you require is not listed or available in house then we are happy to source it for you from other supplier. Additional charges apply for all equipment not included in the venue hire agreement.
