1 SECTION AUDITORIUM PROJECTION SYSTEM PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary General Conditions and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. B. Specification System "Auditorium Sound System". 1.2 WORK INCLUDED A. Provide labor, materials, equipment and services to perform operations required for the complete installation and related work as required in the Contract Documents. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. All methods of construction and details of workmanship that are not specifically described or indicated in the Contract Documents shall be subject to the control and approval of the Owner's Representative. Equipment and materials shall be of the quality and manufacture indicated in their respective sections of the specifications. The equipment specified is based upon the acceptable manufacturers listed. Equipment types, device ratings, dimensions, etc. correspond to the nomenclature dictated by those manufacturers. All equipment shall be tested at the factory. Unless specified elsewhere, standard factory inspection and operational tests will be acceptable. B. Installation shall be in accordance with NFPA-70 (National Electric Code), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), state codes, local codes, and requirements of authority having jurisdiction. C. Equipment shall be designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested in accordance with the latest revisions of applicable published ANSI, NEMA and IEEE Standards. D. Each item shall bear the UL label. E. The system provider must: 1. Provide equipment from manufacturers for which they maintain a contract, distributorship, are an agent, or other formal arrangement for which documentation can be produced showing authority to sell and service the equipment in this territory. 2. Demonstrate that they have successfully installed these systems utilizing their standard products for a period of five (5) years. 3. Maintain a service organization to provide both normal and emergency service. Emergency service must be available 24 hours/day, 365 days/ year, and staff must be adequate to respond within two (2) hours of an emergency call. Orchard Park Central Schools Main Project

2 4. Maintain adequate spare parts inventory to provide both normal and emergency service. 5. Employ service technicians who are trained in accordance with the systems manufacturer's recommendations. 6. Own and demonstrate proficiency in the use of the required test equipment, tools, etc. for the proper installation, setup, testing and maintenance of the system. If requested, must provide a listing of tools and/or equipment and, where appropriate, certifications in the proper training and use of the tools and/or equipment. 7. Provide all system setup/programming to deliver a customized system to the Owner ready for use. 1.4 GENERAL DESCRIPTION a. All system setup/programming is to be completed to the satisfaction of the Owner. If after preliminary use of the system and/or training the increased understanding of the system's features and capabilities necessitates modifications/reprogramming to any extent, it is to be performed at no additional cost. A. Auditorium Projection System: It is the intent of this specification to provide the labor, materials, devices and configuration/programming so as to produce an Auditorium projection system. B. The major items shall include an HD projector, electric screen, motorized lift, stage and wall interfaces, control system, touch panel, presentation switcher/scaler, wired connectivity for HD content, wireless connectivity for presentation content, integration with the new audio system, all cabling, and hardware. C. Components of this system needing to be rack mounted shall be installed in the equipment rack being provided in Specification Section "Auditorium Sound System". PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 LARGE VENUE PROJECTORS A. Display Technology DLP, WUXGA (1920 x 1200) Brightness 8000 lumens. B. Input Connections: One (1) HD15, one (1) DVI-D with HDCP, one (1) HDMI, one (1) BNC - RGBHV, one (1) DC12V output, one (1) RJ45 LAN, two (2) 3.5 mm stereo inputs and one (1) pair RCA stereo inputs. C. Control: RS232C, RJ45/LAN, wired LAN monitor and control D. Video Compatibility: Standard (NTSC, NYSC 4.43, PAL/M/N, SECAM), SD (480i, 480p, 576i), HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p) E. 3 F. Design Make: Eiki EIP-UHS100HD Series 16:10 aspect large venue projector. 2.2 ELECTRIC PROJECTION SCREENS A. Provide a motorized projection screen for the Auditorium in 16:10 aspect. B. Screen size shall be 150 in. high, 240 in. wide and 283 in. diagonal. C. Screen surface shall be matte white with weighted bottom bar. D. Provide low voltage control module. E. Design Make: Da-Lite Cosmopolitan Electrol Series or approved equal. 2.3 PROJECTOR LIFT A. Provide an electrically operated, scissor type projector lift. B. Lift shall be programmable to lower projector from ceiling closed position for presentation use or service position, and then retract projector when not in use. C. Provide scissor-operating mechanism, motor, controls, limit switches, and other components necessary for complete installation. D. Lift housing shall be fabricated from steel panels for recessing projector lift in plenum ceiling space. E. Provide with universal closure and metal trim to finish ceiling opening. F. Operating Mechanism: Mechanism operated by 110 VAC, 60 Hz, instantly reversible, thermally protected, lifetime lubricated, right angle gear motor and chain drive system. G. Cable Management System: Provide lift with means for attachment of cables to rear scissor to eliminate cord tangles. Include 110 V pre-wired power cable and prewired hookups for RGBHV, HDMI, Video and RS232 control. H. Design Make: Draper Scissor Lift SLX or approved equal. 2.4 CONTROL SYSTEM A. Provide an IP-based control system. B. The control system shall have an integral LAN port to provide a connection to the District s LAN and shall require one (1) IP address for the control system. The LAN port shall provide for interconnectivity between devices on the local subnet with other devices, systems, servers, and WAN/Internet connections outside the local subnet. For absolute LAN security, the entire Control Subnet shall be completely isolated from the District s LAN. Orchard Park Central Schools Main Project

In addition to the LAN/Ethernet communications port, the control system shall include a Crestnet port, three (3) bidirectional COM ports, eight (8) IR ports, eight (8) programmable relays, and eight (8) versatile I/O ports for integration with occupancy sensors. D. Design Make: Crestron Electronics, CP2E Series Control Processor. 2.5 LCD TOUCH PANEL A. Touch panel shall have a high resolution 9 in. diagonal widescreen touch interactive display. B. Touch panel shall have dynamic graphics and text capability. C. Programmable swipe gestures for page flips and other functions. D. Touch panel shall have connectivity for sstreaming and full-motion wired video display. E. Touch panel shall have integrated high-speed Ethernet and Cresnet communications. F. Touch panel shall have built-in microphone and amplified speakers. G. Touch panel shall automatically synchronize its clock with the controller for accurate time/date display. H. Touch panel shall have a weighted base that allows for up to 45 degrees of tilt. I. Touch panel shall be designed for tabletop use or be capable of being installed on a VESA standard mount with optional adapter. J. Touch panel shall have a built-in USB port for direct program upload. K. Provide external power supply. L. Design Make: Crestron Electronics TPMC-9-B, with TPS-6X-IMCW interface module. 2.6 DIGITAL AND ANALOG MEDIA SWITCHER A. Digital and Analog Inputs shall include multi-format BNC video, RGB, HDMI, balanced line-level and SPDIF digital audio. B. The HDMI input shall support HDMI with HDCP, handling WUXGA computer resolutions and 1080p60 HDTV with multi-channel lossless audio. The HDMI input shall be compatible with DVI and DisplayPort Multimode signals by using an adapter. Orchard Park Central Schools Main Project

5 C. The RGB input shall be compatible with analog RGB signals up to WUXGA 1920x1200 pixels, as well as component video up to 1080p60. The multi-format BNC input shall support component HDTV signals up to 1080p60, as well as standard definition NTSC/PAL composite and S-Video. D. Audio inputs shall include two (2) stereo balanced line-level analog and one (1) SPDIF coaxial digital. E. Switcher: 6x1 combination digital/analog switch with QuickSwitch HD Input Signal Types: DM CAT (DigitalMedia over shielded twisted-pair copperwire), HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort Multimode, RGB, component (YPbPr), S-Video (Y/C), composite. F. Output Signal Types: DM CAT, HDMI, DVI, Formats: HDMI, DVI, HDCP content protection support, RGBHV up to UXGA/WUXGA, HDTV up to 1080p60, NTSC or PAL. G. Design Make: Crestron DM-MD6x1 or approved equal. 2.7 DIGITAL AND ANALOG MEDIA TRANSMITTER A. Provide a Digital and Analog transmitter/switcher to provide a convenient interface for computers and high-definition AV sources as part of the auditorium projection system. B. The Digital and Analog transmitter shall connect using a single (DM) cable, providing HDMI, VGA, and analog audio inputs, plus a USB host port back to the Digital and Analog media switcher. C. The Digital and Analog transmitter shall mount into a standard gang-box mounting to allow for the installation of an LAN jack beside it. D. Switcher: 2x1 combination digital/analog switch, Input Signal Type: HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort Multimode, RGB, component (YPbPr), S-Video (Y/C), composite. E. Output Signal Type: Digital Media over twisted-pair copper wire. Formats: HDMI, DVI, UXGA/WUXGA, HD up to 1080p60, NTSC or PAL video. F. Design Make: Crestron DM-TX-200-2G, or approved equals. 2.8 DIGITAL AND ANALOG MEDIA RECEIVER A. Provide a Digital and Analog receiver with an HDMI output port. B. The HDMI output shall support HD 1080p60 video and WUXGA computer signals with HDCP, Deep Color, 3D, and multi-channel HD lossless audio. C. A single DM cable shall connect the receiver to the switcher. D. Two (2) low-voltage relay ports and a digital input port shall be included on the receiver. Orchard Park Central Schools Main Project

6 E. Design Make: Crestron DM-RMC or approved equal. 2.9 WIRELESS PRESENTATION GATEWAY A. Provide a wireless presentation gateway for displaying HD content from laptops, tablets, and smartphones. B. Shall be compatible with Windows, OS X, Apple ios, and Android operating systems. C. Shall be capable of displaying up to four (4) presentation sources at once in a quad screen view. D. Shall support full HD 1080p and UXGA display resolutions. E. Shall provide HDMI, VGA, and analog audio outputs. F. Shall be capable of supporting 32 simultaneous presenter connections. G. Design Make: Crestron AM-100 or approved equal. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 QUALITY CONTROL A. All components of the system as a whole shall meet or exceed the minimum standards issued by the FCC. All work in conjunction with this installation shall meet the requirements of the NEC. B. The system shall be listed by UL and each of the major components shall bear the manufacturer's name, catalog number and UL label. C. The Contractor shall provide necessary transient protection of the AC power feeding the system. All protection shall be as recommended by the equipment supplier and referenced to earth ground. D. The Contractor shall provide system programming so as to provide a simple, intuitive touch interface for control of room system devices. Control to include system automation for startup/shutdown, video conferencing, presentation mode, content sharing, volume and tone control, room lighting, PTZ camera selection, etc. E. Provide Owner with a Beta version of touch panel and source code for his use and review for a period of 60 days. After the review period, the Owner shall have generated a list of his desired changes and comments, which the Contractor shall implement at no additional cost to the Owner. 7 3.2 INSTALLATION, WIRING AND RACEWAY A. Preparatory work required to accommodate the system installation (i.e., conduit, junction and pull boxes, outlet boxes, brackets and all conduit fittings and accessories including power outlets as required) shall be furnished and installed by the Contractor. B. The system supplier shall provide expert supervision of the installation and shall furnish the necessary wiring diagrams and instructions required to make the final sound system installation complete. C. The installation shall be accomplished in a professional manner by qualified personnel regularly engaged in and experienced in this type of work. D. The Contractor shall make installation in strict accordance with approved manufacturer's drawings and instructions. E. All equipment shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner and to the satisfaction of the Architect/Engineer. F. All electronic equipment shall be grounded. G. All cable shall be adequately supported and connectors specifically designed for the type cable in use. H. The system drawings are schematic and locate devices only. The system manufacturer shall incorporate their wiring requirements on the shop drawings. This Contractor shall be responsible, in conjunction with the system manufacturer, for complete wiring requirements and conduit sizes. 3.3 WIRING A. The Contractor shall furnish and install all wiring, conduit, back boxes, pull boxes, outlets and boxes for the erection and operation of a complete system as specified and described in these specifications, as shown on the drawings, and recommended by the manufacturer. B. All equipment power wiring shall be of the same type for lighting and power. Wiring shall meet the requirements of the National, State and local electrical codes. C. All coax cabling may be run open above lay-in grid ceiling where cable tray is available. All system cabling run in partitions or above a non-accessible ceiling shall be installed in conduit to above lay-in ceiling. D. All cables shall be properly supported at a maximum of 4 ft.-0 in. intervals with bridle rings. All loose cables shall be bundled together with cable ties. Open wiring shall not be supported off conduits, ducts or piping. E. All open wiring shall be rated for use in an air handling plenum ceiling. Orchard Park Central Schools Main Project

8 F. Infrastructure Wiring: 1. Provide infrastructure cable for computer graphics and audio content. Provide manufactured cable with molded HD-15 male-male connectors at each end with a 18/2/shielded audio cable for the audio signals. Cable provided shall be suitable for transporting high resolution signal for the required distance. Route cables through conduit provided and make all connections at interface plates. 2. Provide infrastructure cable for composite video and line level audio content. Provide three (3) coaxial cables, one (1) for video transport, two (2) for audio content. Cable provided shall be suitable for transporting signal type for the required distance. Route cables through conduit provided and make all connections at interface plates. 3. Provide infrastructure cable for HDMI format signals. HDMI connectors shall be high quality, supporting HDMI Version 1.4A or higher, and shall be capable of transporting 1080P resolution signals for the required distance. Route cables through conduit provided and make all connections at interface plates. G. Final connections between equipment and the wiring system shall be made under the direct supervision of a representative of the manufacturer of the equipment furnished. At the completion of the installation, the manufacturer's representative shall test and adjust the system. 3.4 SYSTEM TEST AND ADJUSTMENTS A. Before final acceptance of the system, the manufacturer/supplier of the system shall, in presence of the Contractor and Owner's Representative, test each and every component and device in the system. The test shall be documented with a signed copy submitted to the Contractor, Owner and Architect/Engineer. B. The system shall be physically inspected by the Owner's Representative and the Architect/Engineer to assure that all equipment is installed in a neat and workmanlike manner as called for in the plans and specifications. 3.5 OWNER INSTRUCTION ON SYSTEMS OPERATION A. Upon completion of the work and prior to acceptance of the same by the Owner, the Contractor and the major equipment manufacturer's qualified representative shall spend a reasonable amount of time (minimum four (4) hours) with facility personnel instructing them on the operation and service of all the system equipment and controls. B. The Contractor shall properly instruct maintenance personnel to perform emergency repairs to the system such as replacement of defective standard components and minor additions to the system.
