Dear Dancer, Houston Dance Factory will be having auditions for the award-winning Houston Dance Factory Company Team Saturday July 26, 2014. The Houston Dance Factory Company is a competitive dance team that will perform at local and nonlocal competitions. Space is limited for the team but the team may be separated into 2 teams depending on age and ability. This Company is for intermediate/advance dancers who want to train exclusively, competitively and an elite level. Audition Requirements Must be ages 8 17 (by January 1, 2014) to audition. Auditions will begin July 26th at 2pm and end at 5pm. Candidates must audition in person. Auditions are closed, No visitors or parents may watch. Must remain in designated waiting area. I suggest arriving 30 minutes early to complete registration, receive audition number, stretch and warm-up. You will have a 5 minute grace period to enter the auditioning room otherwise you will be considered late and will not be allowed to audition. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO gum, NO jewelry. Hair must be secured in bun or pony tail. Bangs must be secured out of face. $25 auditioning fee must be paid before receiving audition number. Candidates must wear dance wear and bring 2 safety pins for audition number. Candidates will learn 4 combinations in the styles of contemporary, hip-hop, jazz and lyrical. Technique Requirements Right, left and middle splits Clean double jazz/ballet pirouette Pique/Coupe turns Axle Left and Right Grand Jete` (straight leap) Straddle leap Left and Right tilt/angle kick Front and Back attitude Pointed feet During the audition candidates will have 30 seconds of improvisation to showcase their best dance style, acro tricks, turn or leap sequence. This is your chance to show your personality and talents.

Show off your discipline, motivation, enthusiasm, responsibility and determination. My first impression of you will be affected by how well you follow all directions and your attitude. Practice smiling!!! Work on showmanship and energy. Begin stretching and taking classes now so you are not as sore during auditions. Audition workshop will be July 19 th 2pm-4pm. Never try splits or advanced moves until you have warmed up your body. I am so pleased that you have an interest in auditioning for the award-winning Houston Dance Factory Company Team! There are a few items I want to be sure are clear before you come in on Saturday July 26, 2014. Please read each item carefully. This is NOT a class. It is a competitive TEAM. Dancers will be exposed to various rewarding opportunities. Rehearsals are mandatory. 6 hours per week,* Wednesday*, Saturday and Sunday. If your dancer(s) is selected, team commitment, teamwork and responsibility are important. Along with competitions they re other performances your dancer must attend. Membership will be from August-June. Every dancer must audition again to be a part of the team. Team is limited. Scores are final. Results will be posted same day in studio by 6pm by audition number not name. You will then have until 8pm to pick-up your official Constitution packet. Practice will begin August 2, 2014. *= subject to change.

If you do not make the team at this time, please consider working hard on your dance skills, taking classes we recommend specifically for you with our Houston Dance Factory instructors and trying out again next year in July 2015!
