People who received free tickets to see the panda cub have until January 2. Captions Tai Shan Goes Public Peaceful Panda In Chinese, Tai Shan means peaceful mountain. The giant panda cub weighs 22 pounds. Pandas grow up to be an amazing 250 pounds! Tai Shan is the first cub for both mother, Mei Xiang (mayu-shong), and father, Tian Tian (tee-yen tee-yen). The parents are often seen in the zoo s outdoor panda habitat, or natural living area. Tai Shan will drink his mother s milk for about a year. Then he will eat bamboo.
