Angelina is one of the most popular and talked about actors in the world. She has won many awards for her movies, including an Academy Award for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Angelina is well known for her humanitarian work. She has used her popularity as an actor to draw attention to the challenges and struggles of refugees around the world. As a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, Angelina travels to many countries to help people in need. 5 Growing Up Angelina Jolie Voight was born on June 4, 1975, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. John and Marcheline separated before Angelina was one year old. Angelina and her brother James left Los Angeles and moved to Palisades, New York, with their mother. From an early age, Angelina wanted to act. When she was 11 years old, her family moved back to Los Angeles. Angelina enrolled in the Lee Strasburg Theater Institute. At the school, she had her first taste of performing on stage. Her love of acting quickly grew. As a child, Angelina loved to dress up.
