3 INTODUCTION The English sample tasks in this booklet have been produced to show you what the Asset Languages Preliminary external assessment looks like and to provide practice tests for your learners. Asset Languages live tests will be in the same format as the tests provided here. Please see the Asset Languages website at for the most up-to-date information and new materials as they become available in other languages and stages. or more information on the content of the Preliminary external assessments, please refer to the Preliminary Stage Guide which is available on the Asset Languages website. Language specifications are also available and these show the language purposes and functions that are covered in the teacher assessment and external tests for each language. In this booklet, sample papers are provided for each of the four skills: Listening Speaking eading Writing. All text in italics indicates where target language appears in the paper. Answer keys are included for the Listening and eading papers. Speaking and Writing tests use marking criteria. These are provided in the Preliminary Stage Guide. The Appendix consists of a blank O candidate answer sheet which is used in Listening and eading tests. Candidate answer sheets can also be downloaded from the Asset Languages website for learners to practise using them. Information on using candidate answer sheets is provided in the External Assessment eference Guide. Asset Languages constantly receives feedback from centres and candidates and also statistical information from candidates live test responses. We take this information into account and, over time, tests will be adapted and new task types may be introduced. Target language external and teacher assessment sample materials are gradually being made available on the Asset Languages website. If you would like to be informed when new samples become available, please assetlanguages@ocr.org.uk, stating the language and stage that you are interested in. OC

Speaking test packs will include a number of different topics for the personal information questions and a number of different visual tasks. The teacher selects the most appropriate for each candidate. Part 1: Task 1 Introduction 1 1 ½ minutes Hello. Come in and sit down. We re going to do your [target language] Speaking test. Chris and Jane were, however, not the only couple interested in it. The owner, rs Grant, was able to choose who she wanted to live there. ortunately, she chose them.
