They can tell you the number of something, the age of something, the size of something or what something is like. The Three Little Pigs There were once three of the cutest little pigs you ever saw. They were round and pink, and always squealing with laughter. Everyone thought they were sweet and lovable. One day, the three brave little pigs decided that it was time to make their own way into the world. So they left the farm, where they lived with their mother, and set out into the forest. However, in the forest, there also lived an nasty wolf with BIG teeth. This wolf loved to eat cute, pink pigs, with a couple of fried eggs, for his breakfast. Each of the pigs decided that they needed to build a house. So the three little pigs started looking for building materials. The first pig settled for some old straw, as there was plenty of this in the forest. Meanwhile, the crafty old wolf was licking his lips in a sinister and rather menacing way. He was getting hungry, very hungry indeed, and he knew he could get the better of a house made of straw - no sweat! 11 HOMEWORK 11 REMEMBER The word parody means to copy a story but write it in a different way. In a parody, there are usually some parts of the story that we recognise from the original story, but something will have been changed. For example: the good and bad characters may have been swapped over. Parodies are usually funnier than the original story. Look at this extract from a newspaper report about Red Riding Hood. Earlier today, Little Red Riding Hood was spotted in the woods bullying Walter Wolf! It has recently been discovered that Walter Wolf is in fact a well-loved friend of all the woodland animals, who enjoys nothing more than taking long walks and spending time with his woodland friends. Friends of Walter Wolf have reported that for some time Walter has been saying that he is afraid to go into the woods, in case that scary girl in a red cape is waiting for him. She waits for me every day, and I am so frightened, said poor Walter. Explain why this newspaper report is a parody.
