Intenational IF YOU want something to elieve the boedom of those dismal nights by the fieside, go and see SLADE IN FLAME when it comes to you local fleapit. Flame is tantamount to Slade on stage as thee's plenty of live action fom the lads who pefom most of the songs fom the Flame soundtack album. It isn't, howeve, a chocolate box movie with mamby-pamby chaactes o a happy - eve - afte ending. The stoy's about the ise and fall of a pop goup and the dity doublecossin' wheelin' and dealin' that goes on behind- the-showbt- scenes. Fou lette wods and a fistful of violence ae appaent thoughout the 90 odd minutes, - showing ealistically the cannibalism that goes on behind those glittey facades. It's obvious that compaisons between this and Stadust will be dawn, but if you'e expecting the same sot of lavish poduction, foget It. Slade tells the facts moe simply, staight fowadly (and no doubt moe cheaply) than the Essex extavanganza, and in many ways comes off bette fo doing so. But that's fo you to judge. Sabotage The stoy begins with two ival goups tying to out -do each othe. Jack Daniels and the D. T. 's compises Paul (Jim Lea) ; Bay (Dave Hill): Chalie (Don Powell) and Jack Daniels (Alan Lake). Jack sabotages the athe macabe Roy Piest and the' Undetakes act by locking thei lead singe, Stoke (Noddy Holde) in his stage coffin. Afte the show a cat and mouse ca chase takes place esulting in a bizae cash which lands both goups In jail. But not all is lost. Along comes a slick, easy - talking exec called Seymou (Tom Conti) who gooms the lads fo supe -stadom. KEEPING TE ME FI NINO ' Pat of the management's publicity campaign Is a igged attack on Radio City which gets them in the news. When you have Cut down to the equied depth then clea away the slot at a moe acute angle so that the sting Is vitually esting on a knife edge at the fingeboad side of the slot.
