1 HOST GUIDE Who Stole the Easter Eggs? New Easter Egg Hunt from Kids Mystery Parties Extra Items needed: Chocolate Eggs Name tags for Eggs (if there is more than one person playing so you know who the eggs belong to) Popping Candy Colourful Paper for leaving a trail Silver paper for trail Prize for Quiz Box of Tissues (if you don t already have one in the house) Jar of Honey (if you don t have one in the house) Your kids will have probably been looking forward to their Easter chocolate eggs for weeks now, maybe collecting eggs from the extended family, you may have put them in a cupboard saying Not till Easter Sunday now imagine your children s faces as on Easter Sunday you all go to that cupboard but instead of those long awaited Easter Eggs they find this note: I HAVE STOLEN ALL YOUR EASTER EGGS. But you will never catch me, I m just too clever. BUT I WILL TELL YOU SOMETHING - I LOVE CHOCOLATE, SO YOU HAD BETTER BE QUICK OR ALL YOUR EGGS WILL BE EATEN. Got to go now that Easter Bunny is watching me! But not all is lost - along with this ransom note is a note from the Easter Bunny giving the children their first clues to finding the missing eggs and Who Done It! Armed with a picture style sheet, your kids will follow the 19 clues around your home, ticking off the famous ducks and rabbits that have helped them along the way by giving them clues, and eventually they find the missing eggs. This Easter Egg Hunt is designed for the whole family, older kids (children, teens and adults) are not left out, with each clue is a question (TV, Book or Film related) some easy, and some difficult, the questions are awarded points related to their difficulty, they can work as a team or individually. (This is optional as the Easter egg hunt can stand alone without the quiz). Because I am in the UK this Easter Egg Hunt is designed to be played indoors; as we cannot rely on the weather!! But if you want to take the hunt outside, there are clues, such as a paper/silver foil trail that will allow this, have them march all around the garden, or your neighbourhood if you like.

2 Younger kids follow the clues the famous Rabbits and Ducks have left around your home, they just cross off the bunnies/ducks from the picture sheet of the famous bunnies/ducks that have helped them along the way. The bunny or duck who did not leave a clue for them is the one who done it! Older kids/adult Quiz: there is an extra set of clues which have questions on them if you wish to use the quiz I have provided an answer sheet that has an extra picture clue to help the points scored if you get the question correct are in the right hand column just add up the points to see who wins! Organising the Easter Egg Hunt is easy just follow the instructions below, I ve told you where to hide the clues, and the answers to the quiz questions. 3 WHO STOLE THE EASTER EGGS? Easter Bunny Clue: The Easter bunny says a famous rabbit or duck has stolen your Easter eggs. OTHER famous rabbit and ducks are trying to help you find your eggs by leaving clues for you to follow. The Easter bunny also says if you feel your too old to hunt for eggs then your should join in the quiz there could be a special prize. Here is your first clue: Your eggs have gone and it s not funny But there s a clue where it rhymes with bunny There is a jar of something sweet and runny It s not jam, jelly, or preserve it s. Clue 1: Rupert Bear Rabbit Twins Q. Rupert Bear was first a comic strip, in what newspaper was it first published: A. Daily Express We wanted to go for a picnic with Rupert, Badger and Ming. It was as we were collecting something to eat our jelly with that we noticed a note from another famous rabbit. (hide the next clue in the place you keep your spoons)

4 Clue 2: Winnie the Pooh Rabbit Q: Name the boy in the Winnie the Pooh stories. A: Christopher Robin Every Easter I hide eggs for and Piglet and Roo, I make Eye-aw an Easter Bonnet too, Whilst looking for a hat to decorate with ribbon and glue, I noticed someone else had left you a clue. (hide the next clue in a hat) Clue 3: Magical Rabbit in a Hat Q: Name the British magician whose magic hat was a fez? A: Tommy Cooper You can find your missing eggs with ease Just try the magic dust if you please But it will make you want to sneeze Then you will want one of these (have a bowl of popping candy here [available from most sweet shops or online there is a link on the website if you cannot find] - Hide the next clue in a box of tissues)

5 Clue 4: Roger Rabbit Q: What is the cartoon name of the baby in the film Who framed Roger Rabbit? A: Baby Herman Jessica and I are such big stars we are always on the TV, and I m such a scatter brain I leave stuff everywhere! (Leave the next clue on a TV) Clue 5: Hazel Watership Down Q: In the film Watership down, who sang the theme tune Bright eyes? A. Simon and Garfunkel I followed a trail of paper along the black river, and all I found was a note! (Leave a trail of paper from this clue to the next the black river is a road in Watership down so if you live on a quiet road you may like to use this and leave a trail along the sidewalk/pavement).

6 Clue 6: Peter Rabbit Q: In another Beatrix Potter classic she tells us a story of a hedgehog who is a washer woman, what is the characters name? A: Mrs Tiggywinkle (1 point). I left my coat behind while steeling vegetables, and there was something valuable in the pocket! (leave the next clue in a pocket of a coat) Clue 7: Dylan Magic Roundabout Q: In the magic roundabout film, who were the human voices for Florence and Dougal? A: Kylie Manogue and Robbie Williams. (1 point each) Time for Bed said Zebedee! He s so clever he must know where the next clue is. (leave the next clue in a bed)

7 Clue 8: Buster Rabbit (Rabbit Friend of Arthur) Q: Buster Rabbit is Arthur s friend, what kind of animal is Arthur? A: Aardvark My friend Arthur wears these to help him see I noticed a pair on a table and there was also a note. (put the next clue on a table next to a pair of glasses/sunglasses.) Clue 9: The Velveteen Rabbit Q: Who is the author of The velveteen rabbit book? A: Margery Williams (2 points) I am a rabbit, who is a soft toy, and all my friends are toys too, I bet the next clue is with my friends. (Hide the next clue with some other soft toys)

8 Clue 10: White Rabbit Alice in Wonderland Q: Who is the author of the books Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the looking glass? A: Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll (1 point if you get Lewis Caroll, but 5 if you get the authors real name!). I m late, I m late for a very important date! No time to rest or hesitate As a clue can be found where you tell the time To help you to solve the crime! (leave the next clue by a clock or watch) Clue 11: Count Duckular Q: In the cartoon Count Duckular, who is the voice for this vegetarian blood sucker? A: David Jason (2 point) Every vampire knows how to look after their teeth! (leave the next clue by tooth brushes)

A: Mr Jeremy Fisher I really do get in a muddle When I spoil my clothes in a puddle I was looking for something clean to wear. And I found another clue (Hide the next clue in a chest of drawers or airing cupboard where there are clean clothes.) Clue 13: Ugly duckling Q: The Ugly Duckling is a Hans Christian Anderson story. In the 1952 Hans Christian Anderson musical movie, who played Hans? A: Danny Kaye (2 points) I try to avoid looking in one of these, until I turn into a swan that is! (Hide the next clue by a mirror)

10 Clue 14: Donald Duck Q: What is the name of Donald s penny pinching Scottish uncle? A: Uncle Scrooge McDuck (3 points if you get the full name, 1 point if part name) I like to look after my money, when I was counting my money, I found more notes than I was expecting! (hide the next clue in a purse/wallet/money bank) Clue 15: Huey, Louie & Dewey Q: What relation are these characters to Donald Duck? A: His nephews (1 point) We love to help ourselves to cookies when Uncle Donald is not looking, but we found something else in the cookie jar. (Hide the next clue in the cookie jar, you can enhance this clue if you like by leaving a trail of cookie crumbs.)

11 Clue 16: Thumper Q: What is the name of Thumper s Skunk friend? A: Flower (1 point) I love thumping my foot along to some great music with rhythm and beat, But musical notes are not the only notes coming out of this musical machine. (leave the next clue by a radio/stereo/musical instrument etc) Clue 17: Daisy Duck Q: When the Daisy Duck (Donald s Girlfriend) was first introduced in the Disney cartoons, she was known by another name, what was it? A: Donna Duck (2 points) I was making myself pretty for Donald, whilst putting on my lipstick I noticed a clue. (put the next clue in a make-up bag or dressing table)

12 Clue 18: Bugs Bunny Q: Which famous film studio makes the Bugs Bunny Cartoons? A: Warner Brothers (1 point) Naa What s up doc? Easter Eggs are great but I like carrots better! (Put the next clue where you keep your vegetables) Clue 19: Brar Rabbit Q: In the Disney Film Song of the South which featured Brar Rabbit, who sang Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Do Da, you can give the Character name, extra points if you know the actor? A: Actor: James Baskett - Character: Uncle Remus Brar Rabbit has a keen eye and has noticed a trail of silver foil, someone has been eating Easter eggs and discarding the foil. Brar Rabbit thinks that you should follow the foil trail you may find what you are looking for! (You can take this trail inside or outside, make it as long or short as you like (aluminium foil can be used) this trail should be to the place you have hidden the Easter eggs)

13 Final note (put with Easter Eggs): I hate all rabbits, even the Easter bunny. He just wanted to spoil my Easter fun, and keep all eggs for himself. To find out who I am, just check who didn t leave a clue. I hid all the eggs I couldn t eat here. So you had better hurry as I m feeling peckish again! (Daffy Duck DID IT!)
