DON T MISS A MOMENT! Dear Theatre Lover, I can t wait to tell you about the 2019 season! I often describe choosing a season as a small, but difficult puzzle. As always, we want just the right blend of new and classic works, and the upcoming season is an incredible mix of music, dance, comedy, drama, and simply fantastic storytelling. The only piece missing is you! I m thrilled to announce there is no subscription price increase this year, so our subscribers continue to enjoy incredible shows at an even better value. And now that the entire Marriott Lincolnshire Resort has been transformed, we have even more to offer. We hope that you ve had a chance to experience the brand new Spa at Lincolnshire and dine in our two new restaurants. Along with our popular series of Theatre for Young Audiences shows, we ve also added a year of concerts, produced by our friends at Artists Lounge Live, to expand our offerings and give our subscribers just a little more. Check out the last two pages of the brochure and be sure to take advantage of your subscriber discount on these dynamic events. Lastly, each year more and more subscribers choose our StagePass option. This is our most flexible and most convenient subscription option, so if you don t know about this incredible value see the StagePass page later in this brochure, or give our box office a call to find out more. Our 2019 season explodes out of the gate with the highly anticipated Million Dollar Quartet! You ve been asking for it for years, and this red-hot Broadway hit is sure to melt away the winter blues. Next up is our Marriott Theatre Insiders top choice from our recent season survey, Footloose! This high energy musical, based on the hit film, features a top ten score of radio hits like Let s Hear it for the Boy and the title song. In the long tradition of launching new musicals, you ll be among the first to experience Darling Grenadine. Featured in developmental productions at Goodspeed Musicals and National Alliance for Musical Theatre, we re honored to present the first full production of this unique and charming new musical that we think has a long life ahead of it. Come August, we ve got something special with Something Rotten! We think it s one of the funniest shows in a real long time, and I hope you agree! We close the 2019 season with the audience family favorite, the classic, Oliver! You ll fall in love all over again with the beloved orphan and a score that includes Food, Glorious Food and As Long as He Needs Me. I want to draw your attention to one schedule change: during the 2018 season we adjusted our performance schedule based on feedback from subscribers. Next year we re making one more correction to get it just right. Our Saturday matinee time is now 4:00PM. Now, turn the pages, and get to know your 2019 Marriott Theatre season. See you at the theatre! Sincerely, Terry James Executive Producer Subscribe Today! Call the Box Office at !
Opens January 16, 2019 The Tony Award-Winning musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary December night to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations that is both poignant and funny. Relive the era with the smash-hit sensation featuring an incredible score of rock n roll, gospel, R&B and country hits, performed live onstage by world- class actors and musicians. Showcased hit songs include: Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, Walk the Line, Sixteen Tons, Who Do You Love?, Great Balls of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On, Hound Dog, and more. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET captures the contagious spirit, freewheeling excitement, and thrilling sounds of the once-in-a-lifetime event where four of music s best talents came together.
Our subscribers most requested return engagement! Opens April 10, 2019 Tyler Hanes, All Shook Up (2008) Based on the hit film, and the true story of Elmore City, Oklahoma which banned dancing for 90 years, Footloose is back! When big city teenager Ren moves to a small town, he finds that wide open spaces sometimes come with very narrow minds. As the town copes with tragedy, the influential Reverend Moore has banned dancing and rock music. Pretty soon, Ren is the rebel with a cause, winning over the hearts (and feet!) of the whole community. Packed with a top-ten hit score like Almost Paradise, Let s Hear It for the Boy, Holding Out for a Hero, and Footloose.
Opens June 26, 2019 Harry is a charming songwriter whose fanciful view of the world rivals the Technicolor of any MGM classic. But as Harry floats through the kind of Manhattan life that dreams are made of, he suddenly finds himself confronted with the idea that a dream may be exactly what it is. And reality isn t nearly as beautiful. Told with a rich contemporary score, DARLING GRENADINE peels away the layers of musical comedy tropes to explore the friction between romance and reality, denial and heartbreak. With its surprising melding of off-beat, whimsical humor and serious themes of addiction and loss, this bittersweet new musical brings us something magical, moving, and boldly unique. Book, Music and Lyrics by Daniel Zaitchik
The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared! New York Magazine Opens AUGUST 28, 2019 Welcome to the Renaissance! SOMETHING ROTTEN! is Broadway s big, fat hit! (New York Post). Set in 1595, this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as The Bard. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world s very first MUSICAL! But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is The Funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years! (Time Out New York).
A Musical Theatre Masterpiece! Opens October 30, 2019 The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver s chances of discovering the true love of a family. Celebrate the holidays with one of the most beloved family musicals of all time featuring Food, Glorious Food and As Long as He Needs Me.
