4 October 11-14*, 2018 Bobbi Biron Theatre Program Fulton Hall, Black Box Theatre 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. STAGE KISS Art imitates life. Life imitates art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. Written by Sarah Ruhl Directed by Robert Smith November 1-4*, 2018 SU Dance Company Holloway Hall Auditorium 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. SU FALL DANCE SHOWCASE The program features selected student choreography adjudicated by dance professionals. Directed by Helen Myers
5 November 15-18*, 2018 Bobbi Biron Theatre Program Fulton Hall, Black Box Theatre 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS This hilarious, Tony Award-winning update of the 18th century Italian farce The Servant of Two Masters transports us to the British seaside town of Brighton in 1963 and presents slapstick at its finest, with prop comedy, actors falling down stairs and slamming doors, mistaken identities, double entendres, and interaction with the audience. And the revelry is accompanied by a live skiffle band, playing music reminiscent of the early Beatles. Written by Richard Bean Music by Grant Olding Directed by Matt Saltzberg December 1, 2018 Holloway Hall Auditorium 7:30 p.m. SALISBURY/UNIVERSITY CHORALES The chorales perform with the Capital Ringers, a premier hand-bell ensemble. The concert features selections for hand bells and choir and musical numbers featuring hand bells only and choir only, including a preview of their spring 2019 work Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Directed by William M. Folger
6 December 5-9*, 2018 Opera Ensemble Fulton Hall, Black Box Theatre 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR From concept album to global phenomenon, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber s iconic production with its musically anachronistic setting of the Jesus story features SU s most explosive and finest vocal talent. This is a historically celebrated yet controversial work. Lyrics by Tim Rice & Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber Co-Directed by John Wesley Wright & Matt Saltzberg Musical Direction by William M. Folger February 2, 2019 Children s Theatre Ensemble Holloway Hall Auditorium 4 p.m. ALICE SU s Children s Theatre Ensemble collaborates with internationally acclaimed Quest Visual Theatre (Arts for Everyone) to remount the company s imaginative, visual adaptation of Alice (in Wonderland)! In a month-long residency, members of Quest Visual Theatre join students from SU s Bobbie Biron Theatre Program to create this performance for children of all ages. Quest Visual Theatre is a group of artists, educators and dedicated volunteers committed to creating, producing, presenting and supporting theatre that emanates from a visual base.
7 April 4-7* & 11-14*, 2019 Bobbi Biron Theatre Program Fulton Hall, Black Box Theatre 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. PETER AND THE STAR CATCHER The Tony-winning Peter and the Star Catcher - a wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson s best-selling novels - upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Star Catcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love. Written by Rick Elice Music by Wayne Barker Directed by Matt Saltzberg April 11-14*, 2019 SU Dance Company Holloway Hall Auditorium 8 p.m. & *2 p.m. SPRING DANCE CONCERT The program features works by guest artists and resident faculty. Directed by Helen Myers
