NSF-BCS Zhou (PI) 9/01/2015-8/31/2019 Total costs: $337,759 Collaborative Research: Neural-cognitive analysis of spatial scenes with competing dynamic sound sources. This proposal investigates the auditory system s ability to discriminate objects embedded within a complex scene. The proposed research will provide information that could aid in the design of effective electrically assisted hearing technology and other technologies that require analysis of complex auditory environments. NIH 1R01DC Zhou (site PI) 03/15/2018-2/28/2023 Total costs (ASU): $107,614; (UW): $2,735,135 Plastic Synaptic Interconnections between Principal cells of the Ventral Cochlear Nucleus This proposal is lead by Dr. Oertel in University-Wisconsin Madison to investigate the neural mechanisms of plasticity of T stellate cells in brainstem. The ASU site will conduct modeling studies to test the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in normal and hearing loss conditions.
