4 Singing is Good For You! We always knew - but now we know why... Singing is an aerobic activity - when we sing we draw more oxygen into the bloodstream which improves circulation. Controlled and deep breathing is shown to increase blood flow and increase the release of endorphins which are 'feel good' hormones associated with pleasure. A study of a choir in Frankfurt also showed the physical activity of singing enhanced the production of antibodies within the immune system.

5 Singing triggers the release of the hormone Oxytocin, which is known to increase a feeling of trust, bonding, friendship and 'togetherness' which makes us feel safe and calm as we partake in a group activity. Singing also enhances the release of Dopamine which research now shows is linked to a feeling of pleasure and happiness.
