2 A unique opportunity Come study, rehearse and perform over a three week period with internationally renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling! Helmuth Rilling founded the Festivalensemble Stuttgart in 2001 and since then has been its principal director. Apply now to take part in their 2008 sessions! Applications are invited from musicians worldwide: singers aged between 18 and 30 and orchestral musicians aged between 18 and 28. Who, Where, When Works to be studied and performed in 2008: Johann Sebastian Bach: St. Matthew Passion BWV 244 Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 7 in B minor (D 759, Unfinished) /»Gesang der Geister über den Wassern«(D 714) / Mass in A-flat major (D 678) Chamber music and works for choir a cappella All works will be performed several times. Rehearsals and concerts will take place from August 12 to September 1, You must be available for the whole period of time. Internationally renowned music teachers and professors for woodwinds, brass and strings will work with the ensemble in sectionals and tutti rehearsals. Choir members will receive individual tuition through experienced voice coaches. Course languages are German and/or English. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of either of these languages. Travel, accommodation, meals and course fees will be paid for by the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart for all members of the ensemble. A nonrefundable registration fee 3 15 is charged from all applicants (special conditions apply for applicants from Eastern Europe, GUS and Africa).

7 Requirements Choir Experience in ensemble singing and a thorough preparation of the main works. Ability to sight read and the ability to sing without vibrato so that voices blend well. Orchestra Thorough preparation of all the main works. Orchestral members should be prepared to play any part within their respective instrument group. Auditions Auditions will take place in various cities worldwide between March 25 and April 11, You can find a list of the audition places on the application form; further details will be published as they become available on our web page. Applicants who cannot attend a live audition can also send us a good quality recording on either MiniDisc, CD or video DVD before April 1, The conditions for submitting a recorded audition can be found on our website. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart accepting the rules and conditions of the Festivalensemble including a committment to intense preparation of the works before rehearsals and a full participation from August 12 to September 1, 2008.
