He laid the foundation for the systematic study of Carnatic music and was also educated in Sanskrit, Kannada, Kavya, Vyakarana, Purana, Upanishad. When he was 16 years old he married Saraswathi. One miracle happened in his life. God in the disguise of an old brahmin pleaded for financial help. But he refused. Nayaka left the house with his wife and children to have the darshan of Lord Purandara Vitala. Sri Purandara Dasa is respected as "Carnatic Music Pithaamaha". He spent fifty years of his life in composing music. On Pushyabahula Amavasye he shook off his mortal life. 5
