3 About The Chorus The South Windsor Community Chorus members share a desire to provide entertainment, musical growth and education, personal challenge, creativity, and community service. The Chorus welcomes voices (with or without musical background) from South Windsor and the surrounding towns. This organization originally began in 1971 as Friends of Music. Bobbie Reeves (Director) and Karen Krinjak (Accompanist) volunteered their services to help raise money for band uniforms for the South Windsor High School. Today, membership ranges from 40 to 50 singers from towns throughout the region. The Chorus performs two major concerts a season, winter and spring, as well as shorter programs throughout the community. Our repertoire consists of light classical, popular show tunes, and traditional numbers. The group is sponsored in part by the Recreation Department of the Town of South Windsor, through the generosity of companies and organizations in the community, as well as by members of the chorus themselves. The Chorus awards its Friends of Music $500 scholarship each year, to a graduating Senior of South Windsor High School, pursuing a career in music. For more information on how you can join us on our musical adventures, please call Lehman A. Mann Sr at (860) Please visit us at our web site:

10 From The President I hope you ll remember all you ve shared with the South Windsor Community Chorus in this evening s performance. We, the SWCC enjoy every moment that we are performing for you, our Friends in Music from all the surrounding communities. This season, The South Windsor Community Chorus had the wonderful opportunity to do a Carol Sing at the Wood Memorial Library s Ginger Bread event. We performed many of the Old Christmas carols and our voices rang through the library like a chorus at a grand auditorium. We also performed our National Anthem and God Bless America at the American Legion s annual Wreaths Across America and Veteran s Day ceremonies at Veterans Memorial Park. We bring you this evening, Moments of Joy & Peace with the hope that you find Joy & Peace in our music. Our message is that music can heal, and it can bring Joy & Peace to the hearts of all who hear us sing. (Pay particular attention to Keep the Lamps Burning and Let there be Peace ) In closing, it is MY wish that you continue supporting us as we continue on the road ahead and feel the thanks we are sending with our music. Thank you and Happy New Year to ALL of YOU, our FRIENDS IN MUSIC. From The Director Another year... Another wonderful concert celebration to share. Thank you so much for coming and supporting our community chorus. Tonight, will be a beautiful walk through songs that celebrate the joys of the season and the hopes for the future. We welcome our future, several High School students (some my former Eli Terriers ) Sophomore s, Junior s and two Senior s grace our stage tonight to sing selections from the Sound of Music, the musical they were all part of in November. I hope, that like me, you find the joy and the hope in their young voices and in our selections tonight. Thank you. Susan
