5 Cosmo Sheldrake The British artist Cosmo Sheldrake is 28 years old and he plays more than 30 musical instruments. He has composed for films, theatre plays and he seems to have an especial talent for vocal mimesis. Sheldrake reproduces a great variety of animal sounds using his voice and he even gave a TEDx conference about interspecies communication. His songs evoke the minimalist music, the spirit of fanfares, as well as the world music and pop music. His latest album, which was produced by another wizard of the sound, Matthew Herbert, is the breakthrough of an artist that might be the sound of Lewis Carrol s short stories In collaboration with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E)

9 Karpov Not Kasparov Karpov Not Kasparov is a duo of local heroes from Romania, though they are increasing their number of followers steadily among the European clubs. They began to compose music based on the rules and chess strategies. Therefore, on the surface, their sounds might seem dark and experimental. However, the end product is always a danceable tune, with some influences from jazz or inspired on the oriental folklore (as chess is an oriental game.) They always highlight the sounds of the 80 s dance floor. Up to now, they have not attracted the attention among the most influent media of the pop music. However, prestigious radio stations like WFMU of New York or vice.com website have already noticed both their presence and the East European dance stage

11 Esteban & Manuel «The verbena spirit, but mixed with cumbia and autotune». This was the title given by the specialised media; referring to the rhythms of this Galician duo. In less than a year, they became a reference among the Galician music. It is not new to listen to Latin sounds in Galicia coming from the masters. Since the 70 s these masters already enliven international orchestras like Los Españoles, Los Satélites, etc. Half a century later, it is surprising to see how two youngsters coming from the independent local scene make a name for themselves among this generation of urban artists. 13 Altın Gün Altın Gün offers and exciting mixture of Turkish folk, psychedelic and rock. After perfoming in Istambul with Jacco Gardner, who was the bassist of his band, Jasper Verhulst was astonished by the influences of both the 70 s Turkish sound and national artists like Selda or Barış Manço. These combined traditional music and occidental Rock. Together with other members of the band and Turkish musicians recruited via Facebook, they achieved the revival of this sound. In a little over a year, they began to perform in significant international festivals due to their good live performance; which was highlighted as one of the best in their genre. Altın Gün plays popular songs from the 70 s and songs by present-day young artists less acknowledged. They mix these versions with new pieces of music and by doing so they evolve that oriental sound until offering a present-day music, lively and above all, paying tribute to diversity

Recently, he was the main protagonist in the film The Wound, where the plot is about a gay love story withing the Xhosa community. They seeked for the Oscar, but they encountered the traditional South African leaders and the censorship by the government. Even though, they made it to the nearly last step in the candidates selection among the best annual films.
