February University male choir meet Classic and original are the key words when the Linköping University Male Voice Choir travels to Lund for a musical choir meet with the Lund University Male Voice Choir. A concert with the two choirs together will be held at Magle Konserthus. Heroes come in many different forms, and in this brand new concert production we will encounter heroes like AVENGERS, BATMAN, WONDER WOMAN and the multifaceted Furiosa in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. 3 April Spring feelings Linköping University Women s Choir is conducting a mini-tour in Östergötland with a new concert programme that creates spring feelings. Folk music in an exciting arrangement is mixed with new choir music. The first performance of Vidkänning, a commissioned piece from the awarded composer Cecilia Damstrom will be held among other performances. 13 april kl , Gamla Åtvids kyrka 15 april kl , Vårdnäs kyrka Spring mood Linköping University Women s Choir are visited by their fiancé the Male Choir Snapsakademien of Luleå University of Technology. In connection to this they will have a concert together in Linköping dedicated to the spring and to love. 27 april kl , Missionskyrkan Carmen When George Bizets opera Carmen was first performed at L Opèra Comique in Paris 1875 a certain skepticism arised and the critique was not a long time coming. Today Carmen is held in high regard and is one of the three most often played operas in the world. Linköping will now have the chance to experience this drama at home. As Carmen we will hear Miriam Treichl and Joachim Bäckström will play the part as Don José. 4 Ceremonial dressing in a student s cap at Valborgsmässoafton Linköping University Male Voice Choir welcome the spring at Borggården, Linköping Castle! Traditional swedish songs about spring such as Vintern rasat and Sköna maj will be performed. Further there will be a ceremonial dressing in a student s cap and a spring speech. As this year s spring speaker you will hear Östergötlands new governor Carl Fredrik Graf. 5 Hjärngalan Linköping University Symphony Orchestra participate at Hjärngalan together with the boy soprano Kevin Johansson 11 maj, Saab Arena, Linköping Academic Festive Concert - Operafest This year s Academic Festive Concert, the beginning of the festivities surrounding Linköping University s commencement ceremony, will this year be a real Operafest where the musical pearls from operas such as Tannhäuser, La Traviata and Carmen will succeed one another. 6 October Autumn concert Linköping University Male Voice Choir presents a genre crossing and exciting concert programme in their traditional autumn concert, filled with warm feelings, lovely music and great lyrics! Linköping University Male Voice Choir 5 oktober kl , Ryttargårdskyrkan, Linköping Mozart Great Mass in C minor Great Mass in C minor, KV 427, together with Requiem make up the two large and mature masses Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed. The music is grand and magnificent with dramatic doses of choir and devine soloists. Other than Mozarts Mass there will be music from Johannes Brahms, Emily Lindström and Gustav Mahler performed at this grandiose concert that forms the 30th Anniversary of the Linköping University Chamber Choir. The Male Voice Choir convey true christmas feeling with classic christmas music, new male choir sounds, escapades and fancies of the best kind and a lot more. 8 christina hörnell was appointed as director musices at Linköping University in the autumn of 2014 and took over the artistic leadership for the Linköping University Male Voice Choir and the Linköping University Chamber Choir. Hörnell is director for the Music at Linköping University centre and has overall responsibility for musical activities at LiU. The work includes providing support to students and teachers, boundary-spanning collaboration within the university, responsibility for the concerts held in association with the Commencement Ceremony and at other university ceremonial occasions, and collaboration with musical activities in the region. merete ellegaard was appointed assistant director musices at LiU in She has artistic responsibility for the Linköping University Symphony Orchestra and the Linköping University Women s Choir Linnea, with teaching responsibility for the Symphony Orchestra course and Choral Activities courses given at the Department of Culture and Communication at LiU. linköping university symphony orchestra (lao) was established in 1993, as a course in orchestra studies at Linköping University. Throughout these past 25 years, LAO has developed and become a crucial part of the university s cultural scene, with performances at several social functions, including graduations, collaborations, university commencement ceremonies, and naturally, its own productions. The orchestra consists mainly of students and teachers from the university, but it is open to musicians who are not associated with the university. the linköping university male voice choir was founded in The choir has since then developed both musically and organizationally, and is today regarded as one of the best male voice choirs in Sweden. The singers are recruited both from within the university and outside, to ensure the highest possible musical quality. The choir consists of approximately 60 singers, properly dressed in tails. linköping university women s choir is a female choir at Linköping University. It was formed in 1997 on the initiative of the male choir Linköpings Studentsångare (called LiHkören at that time) and its conductor Hans Lundgren. Linnea was intended to give female choral singers the same opportunities to sing together at the university as men, and to open the possibility for a large mixed choir with both choirs on occasions. the linköping university chamber choir, founded in 1989, is a part of Music at Linköping University. The choir consists of 40 highly experienced song artists, all of whom live in Östergötland. Approximately half have taken advanced studies in music and are professional musicians. The repertoire is taken from classical western music and includes not only renaissance and baroque music but also romance and contemporary music. LiU Musik Ensembler
