2 Celebrating a Season of Joyous Discovery! This season, music leads us out of darkness into light. We open with the Cleveland premiere of Handel s masterpiece, Israel in Egypt. The epic tale of the escape from Egypt is as gripping as the old Charlton Heston movie. From there, we pass through love and loss, arriving at the toe-tapping spirituals of a Christmas on Sugarloaf Mountain. In February, dueling virtuoso soloists make way for enchanting soprano Amanda Forsythe in J.S. Bach s serene Wedding Cantata. Then Carnegie Hall awaits in March as we make our debut with plenty of instrumental virtuosity but first sharing the program with our beloved local audience. The season culminates with Monteverdi s landmark opera L Orfeo (Orpheus in the Underworld), where the great singer leads his beloved out of Hades almost. Our semi-staged production with dancers and projected scenery will strive to lead us all to a magical place a place where artistic inspiration shines through the darkness. Come with us on the journey! 2
