1 Alexia Batt The American national anthem The national anthem is important for Americans because it represents the nation and the American people. It is limked to the history of the nation. It is part of the tradition and it expresses values of this nation. The title of the American anthem is : The Star Spangled Banner, and it represents the American flag. The lyrics ares about the war which opposed British and Americans. The anthem is important because the American people won the war. I disagree with the people who think the national anthem can be modified because an anthem must be solemn and emotional but if we modified the national anthem we would break the tradition and it wouldn t be solemn and emotional anymore. I choose the version of Rosanne Barr and I hate this version of the national anthem. Rosanne knows the lyrics by heart and it s the only positive effect. As for negative effects, Rosanne had a screeching and out of tune performance. She slids of key during all the song. She had a bad attitude because she wanted to be funny but it was not funny and she didn t represent the nation. I suggest Beyonce to sing the national anthem. Beyonce would make a better version of the anthem because she has a one of a kind voice and she can scream her way throught the song. I m sure that she would strive for the notes and give a perfect and emotional performance. The American people would be proud of her. Beyonce will give a more serious performance than Rosanne Barr.

The name represents the American flag. The lirics of the american anthem deal with the war which was won by the Americans.The particularity of the lirics is that the anthem wrote it in «real time» sot they represent what happened. We can say that they are the time. I disagree with the people who think that the anthem can be modified. An anthem is a song which must be solenn. We can t sin git like we want because this song represents the nation. I choose Michael Bolton version because this version has many defects. At first the most important is that i didn t like his version because when you sing the anthem of your nation you must know the lirics perfectly and michael Bolton forgot a part of them. The second point is that the fac the forgot the lyrics makes performance his representation frivoluous. And to finish the echo that we heard in the back is realy disturbing. The point I like is his voice but sometimes it sounds like he screams I like the fact that he sings accapella too. To sing the national anthem the artist I will suggest is Amy Guess. I think she would make a better version of the anthem because to me she has a perfect voice. She can sing very high notes and when she sings she is not her screeming ; I love her song «tears of an angel» because her voice is strong, poxerful and emotional that s why I think she can sing the national anthem in the same way. I prefer if she sings it accapella but with an instrumental accompagniment it can be great too. I will wish her representation was not too slow because some artists sing the anthem very slowly. I think it needs a rhythm pace and a tempo not too fastbut just in the middle. She should also know the lyrics perfectly to make the best possible performance.

I personally agree with people who think the national anthem can be modified: the anthem is like people, there are lots of versions, everyone has their own interpretation. Rosianne Barr is screeching, that s nearly a torture to hear: she might be a good singer if you are deaf. At the end of her performance, she spits on the ground so she pays no respect to the anthem. Obviously, I didn t like this version because that s a pain for my ears, but Barr s version is ridiculous and funny too (people may like it for that reason). I suggest a singer of a group which is called Hollywood Undead. This band is very famous and popular in the entire world so that must show to a lot of people of different nations the history and the pride of the USA (United States of America). And this group has made a lot of very good songs so this performance must be good as well. Hollywood Undead is American: they can represent the United States. That s why I suggest this band to perform a song of their nation.

I didn t like Rosanne s lyric because she doesn t have a good voice. Rosanne Barr is screeching and it s nearly torture to hear this. She may be a good singer if you are deaf. She spat on the ground and she didn t pay respect to the anthem. It s not really funny even if she wanted to make people laugh. I think Lady Gaga can sing the national anthem. Indeed, she has a beautiful voice and I think she can be solemn and serious when she sings. I know, she can be strange but she can be very serious too!

The American anthem is important for the Americans because the lyrics are about the war that Americans won. I agree with the people who think the national anthem can be modified because we can transform a solemn version in a happy version or a fun version. And we can discover other genres of music. I choose Michael Bolton version because this man has made a grave mistake. Indeed, in this performance, he forgot the lyrics because he didn t learn them and he wrote the lyrics on his hand. But he is a good singer. He has got a one of a kind voice. If he had learnt the lyrics, he may have sung the anthem better than this performance. At the end of the video, people applauded but when he messed up the lyrics, people were angry. I suggest the band of Daft Punk to sing and to play the national anthem. I choose Daft Punk because I think that they can rearrange the song and play the anthem in an instrumental version. We have already heard a rock version of the American anthem but not an electro version. And the lyrics can be sung by a robot s voice.

An anthem is not funny and certain artisi violate the American national anthem. I choose Michael Bolton s version, I don t like this singer because he forgot the lyrics. At the end, he didn t sing, he screeched. He has a good voice but we can heard his voice at back. I want Sabaton to sing the American national anthem because it s a band which makes metal music, the singer has a good voice. There is much rhythm in his musique. His music was attractive.

One of the versions of the anthem than I remember is Jimmy Hendrix's version but I don't like it because the drummer is totally ruining the sound and there are no lyrics. It's not good at all because the lyrics tells the nation's history. The sound is wild and agressive because it's meant to mimic the cannons of the warships. I suggest Wiz Khalifa to sing his own version of the national anthem because he has got a one of a kind voice. In my opinion, he would sing it better than anyone else and it could be funny to hear a new version of the anthem which would be rap music.

Jimmi Hnedryx's version is not very good for me.i didn't like it because there are no lyrics and it's only a guitar solo. For me it can't represent the nation.the lyrics are important because they must tell the story of the nation and they make people remember the nation's history. I think it's too rock as an anthem. It's a music style that not everybody likes. It's too hard and wild and it mimics the warships cannons during the war.maybe it's too aggressive for an anthem.the singer's attitude was bad because he danced like in a metal song. I have the impression that he tried to break the guitar, that was an aggressive dance; That was disrepectful for the nation. I think Yolanda Adams should sing the national anthem acappella because she has a great voice. She sings gospel songs so she has a beautiful and melodic voice, she is a famous singer.maybe she can sing it acappella because verybody should like this version and it's very solemn as an anthem should be.when she sings, she has a good attitude, she respects the people and the song. She is patriotic and she's not screeching to the song.everybody may like it because it can be an emotionnal version and it can express all the values of the nation.this can be a solemn version which can make the poeple be proud of the nation.

This version also has no lyrics while the lyrics are more important than be instrumental accompagniment for an anthem but there is an interesting instrumental accompaniement. I think James Labrie should sing the American anthem because he has a one-of-akind voice! What's, he can sing a cappella and the anthem will also stay solemn and patriotic. If he sings with an instrumental accompaniement he will not dance and play the accoustic guitare : he plays the guitare very well! James will do a patriotic performance : not too rock, not too happy. James never lip-synchs and knows his lyrics by heart.

She also got a one of a kind voice. She also wouldn't mess up with the lyrics like Mickael Bolton. She should sing a cappella because with instruments you lose a part of solemnity. With a cappella, you can really concentrate on the voice, only the voice.

It shows the values and the traditions, and the American anthem is important for the American people because it was written during the war against England, and America won that war. I agree with the people who think the national anthem can be modified because an anthem must fit with the people it represents, and has to change with them because of that. There could be as many versions as there are people in the world. I disliked Roseanne Barr's version, because even if she did what she did to be funny, she was too much off-key and it was nearly torture to hear this. It might have been her vision of the anthem, but it should stay a bit serious. There wasn't even an instrumental accompaniment. To cut a long story short, those modifications were exessive for me. I think that Hatsune Miku should sing the national anthem. It would be a better version thanks to the fact that more people would feel concerned by the antherm, in the entire world, because she isn't an American or English artist. She has a better voice than Roseanne Barr, Michael Bolton and many others. It is one-of-a-kind compared to the other national anther-singers. As well, her songs are written by a fan-community : the best way to make people like the song is to let the people write it! So it wouldn't be boring with too slow tempo, and it wouldn't be screeching like Roseanne Barr's version. The instrumental accompaniment would be great, and finally it would be the best version of the anthem

I disagree with the people who think the national anthem can be modified because for me an anthem is solemn and patriotic and we can't change this. Jimi Hendrix's version I think Jimi hendrix's version is not a good version of the American anthem because it's a version which is too rock for an anthem. The big problem of this version is there are not any lyrics and it's a big problem because the lyrics is very important. I prefer Menzel's version because there are just the lyrics and in the video we can see the public who sings along the singer and I like that. Good and bad point on Jimi Hendrix's version In the Jimi Hendrix's version, i find a good point. When Jimi plays his version the public is happy and this is very good because the public likes listening to national anthem. But the negative point is because there are not lyrics and for me it's imposible to hear an anthem without lyrics. The modification on the anthem is because the anthem is made with an electric guitar we can think it's the cannon of the warships used during the war of Choose a singer for sing an anthem. I suggest Adèle and I think she can do a better version of the anthem because she has a very good voice. If she sings the national anthem I think Adele's version will sound like Menzel's version and I like this version.

I think that's disrespectful for the author and for the nation. It's like you modify a piece of Shakespeare, that's unimaginable. I choose Roseanne berr's version and I hate it because it's bad for my ears, in fact, I think it's bd to hear for everybody in the world. She slides off _ key, she screams her way through the song and her voice is screeching. May be she has a nice voice when you're deaf. She's acting, she's like a child who has a brain defect. She wants to be funny but she's not. The only positive effect is that she knows the lyrics by heart, not like Michael Bolton who forgot and messed up the lyrics. May be he has a problem too, a problem named "alzheimer". I suggest Jennifer Lopez to sing the national anthem. I think she would make a better version of the anthem because she will know the lyrics y heart, she h's a very nice voice and she will do it seriously because she knows what it means for the nation.

In the case of the American anthem, the lyrics are about the war which they won in I agree with the people who think this anthem can be modified because an anthem isn't that different from another song. So anybody should be able to modify it and give their own version of the anthem in question. This of course does not mean I like every version of the American anthem: for example, I really don't like Jimi Hendrix's version which is an instrumental version where he plays his electric guitar. In my opinion, the sound is awful even though I listened to it on an old PC (with equally old speakers) and that it is supposed to mimic the sound of the attack of the British warships on the American Fort of McHenry. The fact that it is an instrumental version (and that the sound is awful) means the melody is hard to recognize. I still think that Jimi Hendrix is a very good musician, but his genre doesn't really go with the anthem or with this version of the anthem. If I had to choose a group to interpret their version of the anthem, I would suggest the group C2C. They're specialized in electronic music and I think it would make an interesting version: it would make a better beat and better rhythm which would make people want to dance. The melody would be easier to recognize and the tempo would be much faster. Of course it wouldn't be appropriate to play this kind of music before an American football match for example.

For Americans the anthem is very important because it is about a war which they won in I think that the national anthem can be modified because the original version is boring, you can hear it everywhere instead of an other version which is done for a special event. It can be modified but not destroyed like Roseanne's version which is nearly torture. I realy like R.Kelly's anthem because it is lively, it makes people want to dance. This version is not boring because he did it for a specil event. The modifications turn it into soulmusic and I actually like it. You can hear R.Kelly's version on the internet but I don't think that an other soul version exist. I think that Sickick could make a good version of the anthem because his voice is clear and soft and he controlls it well. His musicgenre is Trapstep and it is a little bit aggressive for an anthem but I think he could do it a capella or with a soft instrumental accompaniment. He did very good remixes of very popular music pieces and I realy like it. He may use his voice and ''play'' with it or use an instrumental acompaniment. I think that he is able to make it good.

We can't accept a modification of an anthem, the anthem is solemn, it's not possible to modify it, it's unberable. I like the version which was sung at the Super Bowl because this version was solemn, and he doesn't slide key-off but the singer doesn't know the lyrics by hear so the crowd was not happy because it was disrespectful. I think it should be Pharrel Williams to sing the American national anthem because he a popular american artist and he was born with the rhythm so I think he can make a good performance of the national anthem of the USA.
