3 SIXTH FORM AUDITION REQUIREMENTS 2018 Applications All Sixth Form applicants will: Complete a written test Participate in a group interview with a member of the Sixth Form staff Auditions In addition, individual auditions will be required for each Learning Pathway. Each audition is explained in detail below. BTEC Musical Theatre auditions include Drama Workshop, monologues, singing, Jazz Class. BTEC Acting auditions include Drama Workshop and monologues. BTEC Dance auditions include a dance solo, Jazz Class and a short dance interview. Dance A Level auditions include a dance solo, a Jazz Class and a short dance interview. Drama A Level auditions include Drama Workshop and monologues. Music A Level audition includes song and / or instrumental performance Monologues Please prepare the following for your audition: One classical monologue from a play - Shakespeare, Marlowe or Webster One monologue from a play written post 1980 Each piece should be 1-2 minutes long and fully memorised. Students should also be prepared to discuss the monologues that they have performed.

4 Vocal Auditions for BTEC Musical Theatre Candidates applying for BTEC Musical Theatre should prepare one song from the list provided. You must be fully prepared and bring your own sheet music to the audition. This can be sourced at reputable music stores and also at Candidates are permitted to change the key of each piece, however they must provide the printed music in the transposed form. 5 BTEC Production Arts You will have an interview with the Head of BTEC. If you have evidence to support your application please bring a portfolio to the interview. Jazz Class Audtionees will participate in a Jazz Class, please ensure you have comfortable, appropriate dance clothing. Dance Solo for Dance BTEC or Dance A Level Candidates are required to prepare a piece of their own choreography for a solo dance, based on one of three starting points set by the Dance Department. A Level Music Candidates should prepare a vocal and or instrumental performance. Performances should be to a minimum of Grade 4 standard or equivalent. Candidates should prepare two contrasting pieces of music in any genre on any instrument including voice. Candidates must bring their own sheet music performed in the original key. Candidates will be required to complete a music theory task including reading notes on the treble and bass clef, identifying keys and chords and a short score analysis. During the audition, there will be a short interview with the Music Department candidates should have an awareness of the expectations of the Edexcel A Level course and be able to articulate their experiences in performing, composing and listening. Candidates should have gained Grade 5 Theory or at least a Grade 7 at GCSE Music to take A Level Music.

6 A Level Art and Design Please bring a portfolio of your GCSE work, including a range of work from Years 10 and 11, and ideally some work that you have produced independently. Photography Due to the technical and practical requirements of the course we have to limit the numbers who can study this subject. We have therefore devised the following entrance requirements that need to be satisfied before a place could be offered on the course: You need to us some of your photos so we can assess them. These are: 1) 20 photos that you have taken of which you are especially proud. Please rename each of your photos using descriptive titles for example: Reflection On Pond.jpg Distorted Figure Dancing.jpg This will help us to understand the context and location of your work. 2) 20 images where you can show your inspiration from a famous photographer or an exhibition that you have visited. Again title this work in a way that we can understand the inspiration: Old Woman Inspired By Arbus.jpg Reflections After Tarkovsky.jpg 3) A Word document explaining why you would like to take Photography for A level and what you would help to gain from the subject. Images and written work for submission should be onto wetransfer and Greg Beavis the link to view them at gbeavis@artsed.co.uk seven days BEFORE the date of your audition. Students should not images in small batches. If you have taken Photography GCSE they must have attained at least a B grade.
