1 January 9, 2015 Meet Tracy McConnell, our new Administra ve Assistant in Fine Arts & Media Technology. Tracy may be a new face in the performing arts office, but she is not a new employee at Saddleback College. She has worked at Saddleback as a subs tute in mul- ple divisions and at the district for five years. She obtained a permanent posi on as Program Technician in Career Technology Educa on (CTE) in the Business Sciences Division for the past five years. The grant that funded her posi on ran out on November 30th. Therefore, we gladly welcome Tracy as a full- me employee in our division. Her posi on at CTE was to work with Saddleback instructors and high school partners in their educa onal goals, transfer or cer ficate planning and career choices for students. Even though she is not familiar with what goes on in Fine Arts yet, she is eager and excited to learn and grow in this environment. She loves taking charge and discovering new challenges and considers this job an exci ng new chapter in her life. Her du es in Fine Arts as administra ve support for the Performing Arts office and liaison for the Angels for the Arts are eclec c, chao c, and exci ng. Tracy seems to have a natural ability to priori ze and organize and work well under pressure with a calm demeanor. It is already apparent that she is a great fit for our division. She loves working at Saddleback College mainly because of the students. She is especially thrilled at the opportunity to see these students perform in many capaci es. She a ended The Nutcracker in December and is already scheduling her 2015 calendar to see theatre produc ons, music concerts, art exhibi- ons, and our second annual student vocal compe on, Saddleback Star! J U L Y 5, Tracy and her husband, Dirk, live in Laguna Niguel, just three minutes from the college. She has three children, one of which is married and she just found out on Thanksgiving that she s going to be a grandmother for the first me. Her hobbies are gardening and walking on the beach. She also loves to shop but only for gardening supplies. She enjoys shopping for plants at Saddleback s own Hor culture and Landscape Design Plant Sale in the spring. Another fun des na on for a garden shopping spree is Rogers Gardens. Tracy is the sixth child of seven children which develops into big family gatherings. Family members from San Juan Capistrano to Palos Verdes totaling 44 congregate regularly. Our Dean, Bart McHenry, welcomes Tracy sta ng, We are excited in the division to now have Tracy as part of our team. Her years of experience on campus at several offices will be an asset to us. Addi onally, her outgoing and crea ve personality fits perfectly with our culture of enthusiasm for the arts. Tracy was only onboard for one week in December (before the holidays) when she hit the ground running with ac vi es such as preparing the concession stand and the green room for our annual Nutcracker performance; retrieving A Charlie Brown scripts from actors and cleaning them up to return to the licensing company; preparing Angels scholarship materials for the commi ee; and ordering scripts for new produc ons. Through all this, a deligh ul interrup on en ced by the Dean involved watching the child development kids sing carols in front of the library. Mr. Mezo has forged a career as a soloist, recitalist, master teacher, and chamber musician. He has performed extensively in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Always eager to pass on his knowledge, Laszlo has conducted master classes in Japan, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, and the United States. Currently residing in Los Angeles, California, Mr. Mezo is a member of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. He is a sought aaer soloist, and an ac've studio musician in Hollywood. He has played in many film scores, some most updated blockbusters include Ice Age, Life of Pi, Wolverine, and The Lone Ranger.

6 STAGECRAFT STUDENT INTERNS AT ROSE PARADE! (left to right) Chris Dibley, Mark Kriski, Amber Caras Under the tutelage of Michael McCormick, the Division of Fine Arts Technical Director, hardworking stagecraa student Chris Dibley was chosen to intern at this year s Rose Parade. His pre-parade du'es involved being a produc'on assistant to Mark Kriski, KTLA weatherman, while he interviewed people working on the floats before the parade started. McCormick, Dibley, and past Saddleback Theatre Tech student Amber Caras (now working for KTLA) arrived in Pasadena at 3am on New Years day. The tradi'on of past years was to walk the one mile to view all the floats as they prepare for the parade. They ended with a breakfast at the Elks Lodge and then to work.
