7 CAROLYN HART was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where she began studies in piano, viola and voice. She was a student of Irene Jessner at the University of Toronto where she received the degrees of Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Master of Music fn Performance and Music Literature. She has her Associate in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. Miss Hart has attended summer sessions at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Courtenay Music Centre and the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in Aldeburgh, England. She has also attended the Academie de Musique in Lausanne, Switzerland where she was one of three singers chosen to work with Hughes Cuenod. Miss Hart has received several prizes and awards and has given recitals across Ontario and Newfoundland. Currently she is studying with the English teacher Morag Noble and is on faculty with the School of Music at Memorial University. MAUREEN VOLK received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Regina in 1975, then spent four years at the Juilliard School in New York, where she studied piano with Sasha Gorodnitzki. During her studies in New York, she was awarded three Canada Council Arts Grants, as well as the Edna Riefsnider Scholarship for outstanding achievements in piano at Juilliard. She received her Master of Music degree from Juilli ard in Miss Volk has performed in New York as well as in Canada, as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist. She was the winner of the WilliamS. Boyd Competition in Augusta, Georgia, and as a result performed as soloist with the Augusta Symphony in Februa ry In March 1982, she performed the Shostakovich Concerto #2 with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and in February 1982 and 1984, she performed recitals in Gander, Grand Falls, Corner Brook and Stephenville. Miss Volk is currently an Assistant Professor with the School of Music at Memorial University.
