2 An exclusive water music concert «Concert eau in Sea Major» is the first concert which is given in the water. With 3 musicians and many aqua-intruments created, diverted, recycled for this original symphony, this performance makes the audience discovering another side of this precious element. With water up to the bellybutton, the musicians use an amazing instrumentarium, and live unusual, musical and even absurd experiences! Tubas turn into flute, watering can into saxophones, vegetable with deep sound float, and marin vibra and saxhoshower sing strangely on contact with that liquid element... Discover also all the musicality of the water, used as an percussive and rythmical instrument, called Splash. Aquacoustique develops an innovative technique of water percussions called Splash, by hitting the water like a drum. Air bubbles are pushed into water to produce deep sounds. A wide variety of sounds can be generated, through lapping to slapping and powerful melodic bass sounds. Water is shown to be a true musical instrument.

3 Aquacoustique playing Splash : water percussion. The compositions and musical styles are inspired by various kinds of music: jazz, funk, samba, and traditional and ethnic sounds. You can hear the influence of bands like the Hadouck trio, Mac Van der Worst or Stomp Good humour, energy and a bit of craziness make this Concert'eau a splash hit! CONCERT EAU is an aquatic, inventive, eccentric, rhythmical and sporty concert-performance!!

4 Partout où il y a de l eau! Anywhere there is water! CONCERT EAU can be played anywhere there is water. In swimming pools, fountains, rivers, pools, canals, lakes, the sea The audience can be in the water with the musicians, and/or on the edges. In a swimming-pool without tiered seating, natural tiers can be created: 3 rows sitting, 2 rows on chairs or benches, 2 rows standing. CONCERT EAU is performed with acoustic instruments. No electricity needed. A quiet area is necessary. Show for all ages. Can also be performed as a children's show from 4 years up. (School shows are possible ). The Compagnie Aquacoustique can bring inflatable swimming-pools so the show can be played anywhere! (on flat, practicable ground or low stage. Provide a long hose to fill the pools!) 7 CONCERT EAU: TECHNICAL RIDER No technical needs: CONCERT EAU is entirely acoustic without any electrical amplification. No lyrics Performance for all ages Quiet area needed Maximum capacity 150 ( tier lay-out : 1 row in the water, 3 rows sitting on the floor, 2 rows on chairs, 2 rows standing). 300 visibility around the musicians. STAGE Scenic area: recommended pool size 5m/5m (200 in/200 in) Minimum 25 cm/10 in of water necessary SETTING-UP TIME 1 hour ( 15 minutes if set up previously) Duration of the show: Indoor (swimming pool): 1 hour Outdoor : 30 minutes Identification of space and rehearsal : 2 hours All the instruments are made of material suited to public swimming pools: plastic, aluminium, stainless steel, resined wood. 8 The musicians Jean-Philippe Carde, founder of the Compagnie Aquacoustique, Multi-intrumentalist, sound researcher and inventor of aquatic instruments. Jean-Philippe Carde is a an inventive musician who also loves sports. A selftaught improvisor, this multi-instrumentalist sound researcher loves to develop new sounds and ways of playing, both electric and acoustic. A performer who likes to make a splash, water has always been an inspiration for him. In 2007 he set up La Compagnie Les Baigneurs with the danserchoreographer Sara Martinet. Their performance Le Bain met with great success in street theatre and on traditional stages (over 300 performances in France and abroad, Prix Mirabilia, Discovery prize at the Ramonville street theatre festival). He has also worked as a musician/actor in theatre performances (Romantica and the cabaret Zigue Zigue). In 2011 he set up the Compagnie Aquacoustique, which specialises in aquatic musical research. He has invented a unique collection of of instruments and his first musical production, Concert eau en do nageur set the foundations for his aquatic sound and met with immediate public and media interest. Jean Philippe Carde also perfoms solo with the Hang in the performance Hangmoods.

9 Florent Lalet, musician. Although he has spent some time in music schools, Florent Lalet is essentially a selftaught multi-instrumentalist who has trained in different types of saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) as well as in more unusual instruments (ethnic pipes, bansouri, xaphon...) which he discovered on his numerous voyages (India, Africa, Thailand, Mexico...) He has worked and continues to work with various contemporary music groups (chanson, world music, jazz, improvised music, pipe bands etc.) including L'Herbe Folle, Les Madeleines, La Fanfare Toto, Et Hop, Old School Funky Family, and the ephemeral project Alchimik Orchestra. During a visit to Mali he was privileged to accompany Toumani Diabate and Vieux Farka Touré on stage for a series of concerts. Always looking for new experiences and encounters, Florent Lalet has also collaborated with the Humani Theatre company on their creation of L'Ombre, a performance for actors and musicians. He helps run contemporary dance workshops with the Compagnie Porte Sud in Carcassonne, and in 2010 created the music for, and played in, the contemporary circus performance Ahoüt for the Compagnie Cirk'Oblique. An accomplished musician, Florent Lalet has carried out over ten studio and live recordings for various albums and soundtracks.

10 Stephane Gratteau, musician A drummer with several different jazz groups, Stephane Gratteau specialises in African rhythms and music from Togo, Mali and Senegal. It is by this means that he became initiated into the mysteries of water drumming, particularly the Guinean Akutuk (water percussion). Always hungry for new experiences, he has worked on electro-video projects and composed for groups such as Curcuma, La Tune and Zobilobi. 14 OTHER PROPOSITIONS Musical Pools: installation an aqua-musical A temporary installation which allows the spectator to become a musician during a walk around a specially-arranged aquatic space. Musical Pools can be performed in pre-existing aquatic areas or in its own aquamusical space: 3 inflatable pools (1.80m diameter) and buckets. Different themes are proposed. The audience will discover instruments which need water to function - aquapipes, floating basses, vibrao (a little floating xylophone), aqua-limbas, re-appropriated objects, musical waterwheels - and see how water can modify sounds. 15 Workshop: creation using water bottles of instruments (young public) In this workshop, empty mineral water bottles are recycled into musical instruments, including harmonic water pipes, sanzas, ocarinas, sound tubes and pan-pipes. Eveything can be used: the bottles, lids, even straws. We bring the necessary material and run the activity. Tools used: small saws with cutting guides, scissors, glue, files. Participants can take their instruments home with them. Workshop for making ZoZos, little bassoons made by recycling PET bottles (be warned they're noisy!) Zozos gurgling in the water! `

16 SPLASH (aquatic percussion) initiation All ages Just hit with the hands, water vibrates and becomes a musical instrument! Particular slapping techniques allow a great variety of sounds to be developed. Come and discover the astonishing possibilities of water percussion. Water percussion is very playful and accessible. It is not necessary to be a musician or a percussionist to participate in the workshop. It also is a very agreeable musical water-sport which develops the muscles of the upper body! The whole body dances to the rhythms of the water! SPLASH can be practised in any pool from 0.6m to 1m in depth for adults, or 0.4m for children. For groups of 8 participants. ½ hour per group (it's physical!) Splash initiation in the country in the pool at the bottom of a waterfall, Le Petit Phénomène Festival, Aude Splash in an Aquacoustique pool, Fête du Jasmin, Grasse.

17 Aquatic Musical Expression Workshops (public: all ages) Jean-Philippe Carde puts his instrument collection at the disposition of the participants for a workshop that is playful and accessible to all. The instruments are easy to play and tuned to be played together no false notes! The musician has a wide experience in musical education and expression through improvisation, and adapts himself to the level of each participant so that everyone can find their place in this watery musical symphony! The instruments from the CONCERT'EAU performance are here, specially adapted for the workshop: the snorkel-pipe, water percussion pipes, floating basses, flippers, maracas, the talking drum, the vibrao, the zendrum, the watering-can-saxophone and other special instruments. School shows possible: all levels. For small groups (max. 10) Can take place in inflatable pools furnished by Aquacoustique. 18 Bubble Set up a musical chill-out zone... Bubble is a musical performance to aid relaxation. Bubble can be played in the water (interior or exterior) or on dry land, for example to accompany relaxing massages, yoga or a moment of calm on the way out of the hamam... Or get out the sunbeds and organise a musical siesta area at your festival! The music is played acoustically on the hang, a melodic percussion instrument with a gentle, enchanting sound which develops new sonorities when it comes into contact with the water... Invented by two Swiss instrument makers in 2000, the hang is the only melodic percussion instrument to be played with the hands. This rare instrument is a unique sonic sculpture with surprising acoustic properties. Jean-Philippe Carde is a specialist in the instrument and is regularly invited to play his solo concert Hangmoods in France and abroad.
