About TSSM The Toledo Symphony School of Music (TSSM) is a place where families come to learn and experience the power of music through private lessons, group classes, enrichment activities, and performances. Why study at TSSM? Teachers are professional musicians, many of whom perform with the Toledo Symphony. Teachers have received special training and are registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Free or discounted tickets to many TSO events. Performance opportunities with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and its musicians at venues such as the Peristyle stage, Valentine Theatre, Fifth Third Field (Mud Hens games) and Huntington Center (Walleye games)! Multiple solo recitals offered throughout the year. Group and Ensemble classes. GREAT LOCATION! Come over for lessons; take some time to walk around the Toledo Museum of Art and the Glass Pavilion across the street! What is Suzuki? The Suzuki method uses a series of repertoire that sequentially builds skills in an achievable way, implements a parent/teacher/student triangle that enhances learning by working together as a team, and has students learn music by ear through listening repeatedly, as children do when learning to speak. Throughout a student s Suzuki journey, great technique is created and note reading, music theory, and group classes become an essential part of his/her musical life. tssm@toledosymphony.com 1
