7 Snare r r Tripet Grid SnareScience.com - Universa Purpose: As with most grid exercises, this exercise presents some tricky accent pattern puse reationships. The pattern that usuay presents the most difficuty is the accent on the 2nd partia of the tripet. The key to this excercise is MAKING TIME! Once you have this exercise mastered, you shoud know exacty how your feet (i.e. the puse) ine up with the accents. Some things to think about: 1) Stick motion: Do your sticks move exacty the same way for every tap? How about for every accent? 2) Sound Quaity: Does every tap stroke sound the same? How about from eft to right hand? Make sure you pay every tap with the same exact voume. The same goes for a of the accents. Some common mistakes: a) Paying the first tap on a hand after an accent at too ow of a height. You need to contro the rebound of the stick so that it comes up to the correct tap height. b) Pounding every accent. Don't squeeze the stick into the head. The accented stroke shoud be identica to an eight on a hand stroke. After the note has been payed, contro the rebound to the correct hand with EAXED (not cenched) fingers. c) Pounding the very ast note of the exercise. d) Paying the right hand accents ouder and higher than the eft... don't be the guy with the weak eft! ) hythm and Timing: How perfect is your eighth note rhythm? Some common areas where mistakes occur: 4) Variations to this exercise: a) First two notes of the exercise: The first note defines the exercise starting point and the second note defines the tempo. You must internaize the tempo before you start so that these two notes are 'perfect'. b) Underying eighth note puse: Don't et the accents affect the rhythm! This is especiay true when there are two accents in a row. Don't cose down the space between two accents!!! a) Pay one hand on drum and one hand on rim to check for stroke and quaity of sound consistency on each individua hand. b) Pay dotted eights on one hand to keep the puse, whie paying the accents ony with the other hand. --- independence!!!
