1 WECOME!! Thank you or your interest in the Monarch Drumline! As a drum line, we pursue excellence in all we do, on and o the ield. Members are required to perorm various styles o drumming at a very high level o proiciency. We typically perorm 7 dierent shows (all rom memory) within a season and have numerous cadences and stadium grooves to keep help keep spirits high during the games. Our repertoire ranges rom ethnic drumming to Big 10 to drum corps as well. This audition is quite extensive since I am looking or a particular type o player. In particular, I am looking or individuals who are mature, musically intuitive, and technically proicient, as well as, teachable, humble, and dedicated. Being a Marching Monarch is a signiicant commitment, but is extremely rewarding and lie changing. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. 2 WHAT TO EXPECT ength: The audition will last approximately 15 minutes. equirements: Entire warm up exercises (except or cyms) ODU Fight Song Victory or ODU Sight- reading **** make sure you practice marking time while playing **** Instruments: Snares: Tenors: Basses: All instruments are provided or the audition on stands. Currently we march Pearl. - we use traditional grip - bracketed parts are or lead snare only - we use sextuples - be able to play each warm up on one drum and then split - pick one part and learn that part only or everything Cyms: - we use 18 and 20 - eel ree to use your own cyms i preerred esults: I you are open to being in any section o the drumline then you will be given your results immediately ollowing the audition. However, i you only desire to be in a particular section, I will have to wait until all auditions have been heard to give you your results. Miscellaneous: Bring your own sticks or tenor mallets. Only bass drum mallets will be provided or the audition. Have all your music neatly in a binder in sheet protectors
