Each program regularly provides information or addresses current local issues of concern to viewers in the area where the station is located.

Programs that addressed these issues during this reporting period are listed on the following pages. Bay Area Mix 7/14 8pm 1hr A look at Cuban pianist. composer, and jazz improviser Aldo López-Gavilán will be performing in two concerts at Festival Napa Valley The State of the Arts 7/19 7:58a This year marks the 15th anniversary season of Music@Menlo, and also the first time they ve chosen as their over-arching theme a musical instrument: The Glorious Violin. The State of the Arts 7/20 7:58a The State of the Arts 7/21 7:58a The State of the Arts 7/26 7:58a Flower Piano has returned for the third year to the San Francisco Botanical Garden with the installation of more than a dozen pianos around the grounds, available for visitors to play and to listen to other pianists. A look at the return of the Midsummer Mozart Festival, slightly scaled down from years before, but resuming after a year s hiatus following the death of the festival s founder and longtime conductor, George Cleve. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents the world premiere run of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga by playwright/composer Min Kahng.

The Piedmont Chamber Music Festival, co-founded by pianist Juliana Han and violinist Wayne Lee, returns to the Piedmont Center for the Arts next week, as they present their second season. The Merola Opera Program is celebrating its 60th anniversary season of helping to launch the careers of young performers, and tomorrow night and Saturday afternoon they ll present Rossini s Cenerentola at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A look at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music and its new conductor, Cristian Măcelaru. Black Odyssey at Cal Shakes re-imagines the story of Odysseus working his way home from the war. In Marcus Gardley s play, the protagonist is African-American soldier Ulysses Lincoln, trying to get back home to Oakland from service in Iraq. A look at the a cappella ensemble called Gaude performing Old First Concerts. A spurned enchantress takes her revenge on others including changing them into pigs in Pietro Andrea Ziani s opera La Circe, which was written in 1665, but is having its modern premiere by Ars Minerva. The
9 production, at ODC Theater, is directed by Celine Ricci. Bay Area Mix 9/11 8pm 1hr A look at Opera San Jose s production of Mozart s Cosi fan tutte, soprano Amanda Kingston plays Fiordiligi, one of two sisters whose fidelity is tested and bet on in an effort to show that no woman is faithful. The State of the Arts 9/13 7:58a A look at Chanticleer presenting a program called Heart of a Soldier. The State of the Arts 9/18 7:58a The State of the Arts 9/20 7:58a A look at Smuin Contemporary American Ballet season and a program that includes the West Coast premiere of Requiem for a Rose. Violinist Daniel Hope makes his first appearances with New Century Chamber Orchestra since it was announced that he would be their Artistic Partner for three years, as they look for a Music Director to replace Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.
