1 MACOMB COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ROADS TRAFFIC OPERATIONS CENTER To provide and maintain a reliable real-time traffic operations system, in coordination with county stakeholders, that enables a safe, efficient, and informative travel experience. PERFORMANCE MEASURES JULY SAFETY: ROADWAY UPGRADES 68% RELIABILITY: DEVICE AVAILABILITY Percentage of intersections along major Macomb County corridors which have active communications to the 10 Traffic Operations Center EFFICIENCY: F/C REVIEWS 0 0 Number of projects in Macomb County in which new hardware was installed, geometric configurations were implemented, or timings were optimized along a corridor. Number of times the Traffic Operations Center staff reviewed an intersection based on a service request. Reviews occurred in the field (F) or at a console (C) through the network. INFORMATIVE: SUCCESS STORY When a person working in Customer Relationship Management contacts the MCDR TOC with a service request, one can assume the customer expects excellent service. Recently, this motorist ed our department with a concern about a signal on Metro Parkway. An Operations Engineer quickly investigated the concern, resolved the situation at the intersection and personally replied to the motorist. He responded in a sort, concise Thank You , expressing his grateful satisfaction. We re happy to know this customer is satisfied, and he now knows we re satisfied to help! INFORMATIVE: SERVICE REQUESTS There were 92 Service Requests this month. This is a decrease in the amount of service requests from the previous month by 3. Service Requests are requests from the public or other agencies regarding troubleshooting a potential issue with intersection operations. 2 TRAFFIC OPERATIONS Field/Console Reviews Completed July June Compilation of the general field/console review types completed by the Traffic Operations Engineers. Field/console reviews are assigned after a public/stakeholder concern warrants an investigation. Reviews are either conducted in the field or at an Operator console through a network connection. Service Requests By Intersection 81, 88% 3, 3% 3, 3% Hall (M-59) at Schoenherr Hall (M-59) at Romeo Plank Van Dyke (M-53) at Kennedy Circle OTHER 5, 6% Motorists and public agencies contact the TOC to provide feedback on intersection functionality. This month, the intersection accruing the most feedback was Hall (M-59) at Schoenherr. All callers stated a similar issue: the westbound traffic was experiencing queues, especially during rush hour. The MCDR TOC responded quickly and found that the controllers at the crossovers lost communication to the main intersection. TOC engineers resolved the situation by reestablishing communications from the crossovers to the main intersection. Executed Roadway Upgrades Date Intersection Identification Organization Upgrade 07/18/ : Garfield at Fraser High School MCDR Electrical New signal install Tracks the roadway upgrades executed in Macomb County, including those done by other transportation agencies, also lists a description of the upgrade performed. 3 ITS MAINTENANCE Camera Availability 138, 55% 14, 5% 23, 9% 78, 31% Online Offline Standby Planned The percentage of cameras which are Online, Offline, in Standby, and Planned, relating to the Traffic Operations Center accessibility. An Online camera means that TOC personnel are able to view and control the camera from the control room. Online cameras are limited due to current bandwidth capacities. Offline cameras are not viewable to failed communications to the TOC. Standby cameras are functional cameras which are currently not viewable by TOC personnel. A current construction project is underway to bring Standby cameras online. Planned cameras are planned to be installed on future projects or their communication path to the TOC has not been established yet. Other corridors which have active communications to the TOC include Schoenherr Road, 9 Mile Road, Ryan Road, Garfield Road, and Hayes Road, which may be depicted in future reports.
