The connection of the unit, to a socket without the ground conductor, will make the whole equipment dangerous for people safety. About the repairing of the units please refer to specialized personnel only. Inside the devices there are voltages which could be dangerous to people. Before opening the cover switch off the unit, disconnect the connection and the supply cables. In case of electrical shock please follow the instructions of first aid listed on page 4 Substitute the fuses interrupted with others of the same type and voltage. 4 EK-ENS/2 Arch.3309 Pag. 4 of 26 First aid: artificial breathing(mouth to mouth) In case of electric shock you have to ensure the first aids to the patient, but to do this you have to consider two very important things: - interrupt immediately the electric circuit; - if the circuit has not been interrupted, do not touch the patient with bare hands; After doing this, without delay contact the nearest mobile unit of first aid and practice to the patient, in case of loss of consciousness, the breathing mouth to mouth as described below. Put the patient lying on his back with the arms parallel to the body, ensure that he does not have the breathing tracts obstructed (chewing-gum, dental prosthesis, etc.), otherwise set him free from foreign bodies. Kneel near the patient s head and putting a hand under his neck, incline as possible his/her head backwards. Going on with keeping the patient s head inclined with one hand, use the other one to occlude the nostrils, if you are going to practise the breathing through the oral cavity, or occlude the mouth if you want to do it through the nasal cavity. While doing this begin the auto-oxygenation, with deep breathing. Then practice the artificial breathing blowing in the chosen cavity beginning with ten expirations each minute to go on them with twelve and fifteen. 4 During the breathing procedure you have to control that the patient s chest dilates, otherwise change cavity where to blow the air because the previous one could be obstructed. 5 Do not ever stop the artificial breathing until the patient has recovered or the first aid unit has come.

6 EK-ENS/2 Arch.3309 Pag. 6 of GENERAL DESCRIPTION The EK-ENS/1 board allows to encodes a video signal plus two audio channels in according to MPEG-2 specific (Main profile@ Main level 4:2:0). The board is composed by a video input interface, that allows to switch between a RS170 video input signal and a SDI video input signal; it is also possible to set the standard video format (PAL or NTSC). It is possible to select the modality working condition for the EK-ENS/1 between TV or Radio. The board is featured also by an audio interface that allows to obtain an analogue audio signal (analog) or a digital audio signal (AES3) or an audio embedded signal (SDI). The video signal and the audio signal coming from the interfaces are sent to the encoder module.the encoded audio and video are sent to the mux unit. The mux allows to multiplexed the audio and video signal with an input transport stream coming from the input selector.(see FIG.1). The resultant transport stream of the multiplexer operation can be carry out on the ASI output connector located on the rear board panel (see chapter 2) and also can be carry out on the internal matrix lines connection of the EK-MFR/1 unit (see EK-MFR/1 user s handbook) (see FIG.1). The bypass condition allows, when the board is powered on and an alarm is revealed from the card state,to carry out the transport stream present on the ASI IN BNC connector (see chapter 2) on the ASI OUT BNC connector. This operation is always valid when the board is powered down.

13 EK-ENS/2 Arch 3309 Pag. 13 of Menu description and keyboard guide The complete description of every variable of the board menu is repoted below.to set the different values of the variables, it is necessary to use the modifying variable keys (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, front panel description) and to confirm the setting, the enter key (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, front panel description) must be pressed. Using the explore menu keys (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, front panel description), it is possible to see the entire menu. >Status >>Card State Indicates the status of the system. OK:The system works correctly. Encoder Config Info : Encoder configuration procedure. When the system is in fail and an alarm occurs, the Card State returns the alarm. >>Ts In Main This parameter is in according with the active variable in the Mux Main In menu (see par. 3.1). When Mux Main In = ASI In it is possible to obtain: Ts In Main = x.y Mb/sec During normal working conditions (no alarm), showed the transport stream bit rate value (Mb/sec) present on the input BNC connector (see chapter 2). Ts In Main = ASI CD = The transport stream carrier is missing, an alarm occurs. Ts In Main = ASI Error = The transport stream is corrupted, an alarm occurs. Ts In Main = Ts In Unlock = The transport stream is unlocked (Sync byte missed or corrupted), an alarm occurs. The transport stream bit rate (Mux BR variable) is lower than the sum of transport stream main and the transport stream encoder, an alarm occurs. >>Audio Lev Left The display returns the audio left level [db]. >>Audio Lev Right The display returns the audio right level [db]. >>Board Temp When this menu is on, the user can read the board temperature. >Settings >>Set Mode >>>Encoder Mode It is possible to select the modality working encoder condition between TV or Radio. >>>Test Bars When enabled (Yes) it is encoded a video colour bar and a 500 Hz audio tone. >>Set Pids >>>Enc Video PID The PID (packet identifier) Video value must be included between a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 8190 with a step by 1. When the menu is selected, the user can see the actual value of the PID video on the display (decimal format). >>>Enc Audio PID The PID (packet identifier) audio value must be included between a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 8190 with a step by 1. When the menu is selected, the user can see the actual value of the PID audio on the display (decimal format). >>>Enc PCR PID The PID (packet identifier) PCR value must be included between a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 8190 with a step by 1. When the menu is selected, the user can see the actual value of the PID PCR on the display (decimal format). >>>Enc TTx PID The PID (packet identifier) TTx value must be included between a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 8190 with a step by 1. It is possible to read the actual value of the resolution just entering the menu. >>>Gop Structure The Gop Structure value can be settled between four different value: IIII, IPPP, IBPB, IBBP. Every Gop value is associated to a number as follow: IIII 0 IPPP 1 IBPB 2 IBBP 3 So the user can set on the menu the number associated to the desired Gop. >>>Aspect Ratio This menu allows to set the standar format output fot the video. The options are 4:3 and 16:9. >>Set Audio >>>Audio In The Audio in source can be Analog (Analog), Digital (AES3) or audio embedded (SDI). >>>Audio BR It is possible to choose the Audio BR value for the board between 96 Kb/s, 112 Kb/s, 128 Kb/s, 160 Kb/s, 192 Kb/s, 224 Kb/s, 256 Kb/s, 320 Kb/s and 384 Kb/s. It is possible to read the actual value of the audio BR just entering the menu. In according to the audio procedure selected, it is possible to set different values of the Audio BR. >>>Audio SR There are three values of Audio sample rate that is possible to set: 32 KHz, 44.1 KHz and 48KHz. It is possible to read the actual value of the audio sample rate just entering the menu.

It is possible to read the actual value for the Audio parameter just entering the menu. Every audio procedure allow to set different values of the Audio BR parameter. Stereo: 96 Kb/s, 112 Kb/s, 128 Kb/s, 160 Kb/s, 192 Kb/s, 224 Kb/s, 256 Kb/s, 320 Kb/s, 384 Kb/s. J-Stereo: 96 Kb/s, 112 Kb/s, 128 Kb/s, 160 Kb/s, 192 Kb/s, 224 Kb/s, 256 Kb/s, 320 Kb/s, 384 Kb/s. DualCh: 96 Kb/s, 112 Kb/s, 128 Kb/s, 160 Kb/s, 192 Kb/s, 224 Kb/s, 256 Kb/s, 320 Kb/s, 384 Kb/s. Single Ch: 96 Kb/s, 112 Kb/s, 128 Kb/s, 160 Kb/s, 192 Kb/s. >>>In Lev It is possible to adjust the audio input level.the user can select the audio input level between a minimum value of 4 db and a maximum value of 4 db. >>>Imp The Imp menu allows to control the audio impedance. This value can be settled to 600 Ohm or to Ohm. >>>Embedded Grp Embedded group selection. It is possible to set one of the following value:group1, Group2, Group3, Group4. >>>Embedded Ch Embedded channel selection. It is possible to set one of the following value:ch 1+2 or CH 3+4. >>Set Mux >>Mux BR Allows to set the multiplexer bit rate [Mbit/sec.] It is important that this bit rate value must be higher than the sum of the input main transport stream and encoder transport stream, otherwise a fifo full alarm occurs. >>Mux Mode The Multiplexer can be controlled by a remote connection using the Muxr software. When the Restart Auto is actived, the system analyze the content of the input transport stream and send on the output the multiplexed transport stream automatically. When the Restar Auto procedure is complete the Mux Mode return on freeze.

When it is disable the mux do not receives any input transport stream. >>Input Enc When Enabled, the encoder transport stream coming from the encoder is sent to the multiplexer (see Fig.1). When it is disable the mux do not receives any ecoder transport stream. >>Mux Main In The Mux Main In variable allows to decide which input transport stream source must be sent to the multiplexer section (see Fig.1). It is possible to set: Asi In = input transport stream present on the ASI IN BNC connector. Stuff = Stuffing internal generated signal. Int Mpx = internal signal of the re-configurable connection lines (matrix) of the EK-MFR/1. Int Aux = internal signal of the re-configurable connection lines (matrix) of the EK-MFR/1. >>Set Output >>>Asi Out Allows to set which transport stream, will be send on the output BNC connector (see fig.1). Mux Out : Transport stream coming from the mux unit. Asi In : Transport stream coming from the ASI IN BNC connector. Int Mpx : Transport stream coming from the internal EK-MFR/1 matrix line connection. Int Aux : Transport stream coming from the internal EK-MFR/1 matrix line connection. >>>Int Out Allows to set which transport stream, will be send on the output line directly connected with the internal EK-MFR/1 matrix line connection. Mux Out : Transport stream coming from the mux unit. Asi In : Transport stream coming from the ASI IN BNC connector. Int Mpx : Transport stream coming from the internal EK-MFR/1 matrix line connection. Int Aux : Transport stream coming from the internal EK-MFR/1 matrix line connection. >>>Bypass Enabled: When the Card state is in Fail, the signal present on the input BNC connector is automatically send on the output BNC connector. Disabled:When the Card state is in Fail, on the output ASI BNC there is not signal.

The variable Off allows to disable the Show Video of the board. If the EK-MFR/1 contains more EK-ENS/2 boards and the user selects the show video of one of them, automatically the show video in the other EK-ENS/2 boards, are disabled. >>Misc >>>PLL Cap Allows to set the Load Capacitor for the internal PLL. It si reccomanded to do not change the default value. >Revision >>DSP It is possible to see the software release implemented on the DSP device, on the EK- MFR/1 display. >>FPGA It is possible to see the software release implemented on the FPGA device, on the EK-MFR/1 display. >>CPLD It is possible to see the software release implemented on the CPLD device, on the EK-MFR/1 display. >>RamDisk It is possible to see the software release implemented on the RamDisk device, on the EK-MFR/1 display.

19 EK-ENS/2 Arch 3309 Pag. 19 of 26 The example below explains how to set the Asi Out value. The procedure of the variables setting is identical for the other parameter of the board. The Asi Out menu is located in the Setting menu, Set Output sub-menu (see chapter 3) so when the EK-ENS/1 menu is selected, using the explore menu keys (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, front panel description), it is possible to run until the Settings menu as the following figure shows: Pushing the enter key (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, board panel description) it is possible to explore the internal menu of the Settings menu and so it is possible to enter in the Set Output submenu: Now, pushing the enter key and using the modifying variable keys,it is possible to change the Asi Out value. We suppose to set the Asi In value. To do this the user must press the enter key first and then, using the modifying variable keys, to choose the new value to set. When the value is selected, to confirm it to press again the enter key. The new value is loaded and the display shows:

20 EK-ENS/2 Arch.3309 Pag. 20 of 26 If, after the change, the user press the escape key (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, board panel description), the display returns the previous value (in the example Mux Out).

21 EK-ENS/2 Arch 3309 Pag. 21 of WEB PAGE The EK-ENS/2 board is supplied of a web page that allows to obtain a complete view of the status of the board variables. When the EK-MFR/1 system is connected to a terminal unit (PC) and the web pages of the system are loaded (EK-MFR/1 user s handbook, web interface chapter), the user can see the following EK-MFR/1 main web page:

22 EK-ENS/2 Arch.3309 Pag. 22 of 26 The EK-ENS/2 board is loaded in the slot number two; to visualize the web page of the board is necessary to move, using a mouse, the cursor on the slot associated to the board (slot 2) and then, to click the left mouse button on its. So we obtain the following image: The web page of the EK-ENS/2 board is showed above. In the top section, are reported the version of the software tool (v 1.1) and the name of the board with the associated slot number (Slot 2 = =>EK-ENS/2). Under the name, of the board, are indicated every menu in dark colour, while the selected menu is in light colour and its variables are displayed on the centre of the page. The down side of the page is featured by the following parameter: the refresh time variable allows to set the useful time to confirm the setting of a menu variable. The time to new refresh windows gives information about the countdown of the refresh time. The Set parameter box allows to confirm the setting of a menu variable. The output console line with the status square are used to obtain a view of the alarm conditions of the entire system. During the normal working conditions, the output console line returns the No Alarm value; if an alarm is in progress, the following message appears: <<Alarm Active. n variables in alarm>>, where n is the number of the variables in alarm. When a menu variable is affected by an alarm, the value of the variable, in the related window, is showed in red colour and also the name of the board became red.

23 EK-ENS/2 Arch 3309 Pag. 23 of 26 The next example shows how to change a menu variable. The procedure to set every variable value is similar to this. We suppose to set the Mode variable to the Radio value. The Mode parameter, is located in the Settings menu, under the Mode sub menu: Moving the cursor, using a mouse, on the Mode box and pushing the left mouse button on the black indicator, the user can see the available value for the Mode variable setting:

24 EK-ENS/2 Arch.3309 Pag. 24 of 26 To select the Radio parameter, to move the cursor on the Radio label, and to push the left mouse button. The Radio appears in the Mode box like the following image shows:

25 EK-ENS/2 Arch 3309 Pag. 25 of 26 We have settled, for example, the refresh time parameter on the 30 seconds indicator, so every thirty seconds the system variables are refreshed. When the refresh countdown is complete the refresh label is flashing. When a new value is loaded in the variable window (in the example Mode = Radio) the user has then seconds for to confirm the value pushing, using the left mouse button, the Set box (a message is showed on the output console line). At the end of the then seconds, if the refresh time is not finished, it is again possible pushing the set box (you can still press set (until new refresh occurs) message is showed on the output console line); if also the refresh time is at the end, the system reloaded the previous variable value. When the settings operations are complete, the new loaded value is visible on the EK-MFR/1 display.
