2 ORTHOMAT RFMC E straightener Fully automatic correction of bow and skew 15"-Touch Screen optional A rudimentary model in Mahlo s marketing sector for high-quality straighteners The range of features of the new generation ORTHOMAT RFMC E now includes a more advanced type of scanning system which, with its redesigned, optimized optics, has distinctly improved contrast and defi nition. Direct, instantaneous signal processing enables the system to determine instantly the angle of distortion, even at high linespeeds. They reduce the usable value of the product, cause trouble during subsequent processing and give rise to complaints. An ORTHOMAT RFMC E detects and realigns distorted fabric. The optical scanning system of an ORTHOMAT RFMC E is not put off by the wide variety of colours, printed designs and surface textures such as pile or loops usually associated with textiles. An ORTHOMAT RFMC E detects and analyses the material s underlying, orderly structure of weft or knitted courses.

3 Measuring bow and skew Several scanners and lamps are arranged across the width of the online textile. The material runs between the scanners and lamps. The structure or lie of the weft or courses modulates the luminous intensity measured by the scanners. The structures recur at regular intervals and, in doing so, produce a regular light - dark effect which generates a modulated signal in each scanner s receiver. The scanner s cylindrical lens is focussed onto the online material and its horizontal axis oscillates to a specifi c angle either side of the actual lie of the passing weft or courses. When the lens is parallel to the weft, signal modulation is at its maximum. Modulation decreases as the lens s horizontal axis increasingly deviates from the lie of the weft. The system analyses any change in signal modulation whilst the lens is oscillating and computes from that the angle of the distortion. LED-Technics The LED-infrared light sources employed are controlled automatically and individually on each scanner. They enjoy a particularly long service life, consume moreover very little power in comparison with incandescent lamps and, being LEDs, are insensitive to vibration. Transmitted / incident light If the textile is impervious to light or its structure on the face side can be better distinguished by refl ective incident light, the latter can be a more expedient alternative to transmitted light.the scanners are thus provided with a built-in infrared light source which can be switched into circuit and controlled in place of the light-transmission type lamps. Drive mechanisms The precision and rate of adjustment afforded by the very latest in electrical-drive technology come very close to the standards set by hydraulic control. The drive mechanisms of a ORTHOMAT RFMC E are controlled electrically by frequency-regulated, maintenance-free geared motors.

4 Touch screen - display and control terminal. A continuous flow of updated information! Precise and proportional measurement of the angular lie of the weft or courses enables an accurate and informative indication of the progressive weft confi guration. Three bright bars across the screen refl ect the momentary lie of the weft as seen and recorded by the scanners arranged across the material. At high linespeeds, when the machine operator can no longer distinguish the pick or course line, a quick glance at the screen - - will provide the requisite information. The actual degree of bow and skew moreover is indicated separately in percent, and the screen also registers any set percentage of preset bias. All input is entered directly via large touch-sensitive pads. ORTHOMAT RFMC E straightener Available basically as a stand-alone unit - the electronics and screen are an interwired, integral part of the machine, and ready for connection to a mains supply. Roomy end compartments afford easy access to the electronics and mechanisms. The whole assembly comprises as standard: 3 skew and 2 bow rollers, electrically adjustable photo-electronic scanners, adjustable manually across the product servo-electronics to position the straightening rollers tachogenerator to provide a reference of line-speed back-up control panel 10.4 touch-screen colour monitor to indicate clearly the lie of the weft or courses, record trend diagrams, control the assembly, position the straightening rollers manually, preset bow and skew bias, and isolate any of the outer scanners not covered by cloth.
