In active mode, it is green; in standby mode, it turns red. Right Side Panel 1. INPUT button Press to display a menu of all of the available input sources. When in setup menu, this button also serves the OK button. 2. MENU button Press to enter or exit system setup menu. 3. CH buttons Press to page up or down through programs in DTV or ATV mode. When in setup menu, this button also serves the direction button. 4. VOL buttons Press to decrease or increase the volume. When in setup menu, this button also serves the direction button. 5. PLAY button Press to play the disc in DVD mode. 6. EJECT button Press to eject the disc out in DVD mode. 7. POWER button Press to switch on or off the device (enter or exit the standby mode). 8. 7 Remote Control Remote Control Drawing 1. POWER button Press to enter or exit standby mode. 2. SOUND button Press to select the sound mode: choose from Standard, Movie, Music, Speech or User. 3. PICTURE button Press repeatedly to select the picture mode: Standard, Mild, User or Dynamic. 4. CH.LIST button Press to display the channel list. 5. SUBTITLE button In DTV/DVD mode, press to select alternate subtitle languages during view/playback of a DTV program. 6. TV.RADIO button Press to select DTV program playback or Radio program playback in DTV mode. 7. Press to select sound track in other modes except DTV mode. In DVD mode, press the button repeatedly to shift languages. 35. Reveal button Press this button to display or remove concealed information on the screen. In DVD mode, press the button to select subtitles. 36. (SIZE)/(SUBPAGE) buttons Press to return to the previous file or skip to the next one in media player. In teletext mode, press SIZE button first time to double the size of teletext letters in the upper half of the screen, second to double the size of teletext letters in the lower half of the screen and third to resume normal status. In teletext mode, press SUBPAGE button to look at a sub-page. In DVD mode, press the button to display the previous / next file. 7

9 Remote Control Preparation of Remote Control 1. Softly push the back cover to open the battery compartment. 2. Insert two batteries (1.5V, size AAA), please make sure the polarity matches the marks inside the compartment. 3. Softly press the back cover to close it. Using of Remote control Point the remote control unit from no more than about 7 meters from the remote control sensor and within about 60 degrees of the front of the unit. The operating distance may vary depending on the brightness in the room. Under normal use the battery will last for six months. Take out battery when the remote is not in use for a long time. Do not point bright lights directly at the remote control sensor. Do not place objects between the remote control unit and the remote control sensor. Do not use this remote control unit while simultaneously operating the remote control unit of any other equipment. 8

10 System Connections Do not connect the power cord until all other connections have been made. Ensure that you observe the color code when connecting audio and video cables. Connecting to the Power Supply Power is supplied through the appropriate power adapter, one end is connected to the POWER jack on the rear panel of the unit, the other end to the AC 100~240V wall outlet. NOTES Please use the power adapter specified by the manufacture. Connecting a USB Device This unit is designed with a USB port so that you can connect your USB device for media play, record or software upgrade. See the figure below: Make sure that the desired file for media play or software upgrade is stored in the USB device before connection. 9

11 System Connections Connecting to an External AV Signal Source(HDMI) 1. Connect an HDMI signal source to one of the HDMI jacks on the rear panel of the unit. 2. After connection, turn on the power of the unit and the HDMI signal source. 3. Press INPUT then direction buttons to select HDMI 1, HDMI 2 or HDMI3 mode, and then press the OK button to confirm. HDMI provides both audio and video signals and typically provides superior image quality to AV and YPBPR. Connecting an External AV Signal Source (YPBPR) 1. Use the AV cables to connect the external AV signal source to the MINI AV input jacks on the rear panel of the unit. 2. Use a component cable (not supplied) to connect an external AV signal source to the Y/PB /PR (Component) input jacks on the rear panel of the unit. NOTE: Match the jack colors (Y= green, PB= blue, and PR= red). 3. After connection, turn on the power of the unit and the external AV signal source. 4. Press INPUT then direction buttons to select YPBPR mode, and then press the OK button to confirm. 10

12 System Connections Connecting to an External AV Signal Source (AV) Use the AV cables to connect the external AV signal source to the AV input jacks on the rear panel of the unit. After connection, turn on the power of the unit and the external AV signal source. Press INPUT then direction buttons to select AV mode, and then press the OK button to confirm. Connecting to Coaxial Digital Output This unit is designed with a coaxial digital audio jack, can be connected to the digital amplifier, see the figure below. This feature is available only for amplifiers equipped with coaxial digital audio input connectors. 11

13 System Connections Connecting to a PC The unit can be connected to a PC via the VGA cable and PC audio cable. 1. Connect one end of the VGA cable to the VGA jack on the jack panel of the unit and the other end to the PC VGA output. 2. Connect one end of the audio cables to the PC IN jack on the jack panel of the unit and the other end to the PC audio output jack. 3. Set the PC video resolution to match that of the television (Native 1366 x 768@60Hz). 4. After connection, turn on the power of the unit and the PC. 5. Press INPUT then direction buttons to select PC mode, and then press the OK button to confirm. Connecting to Earphones Connect earphones (headphones) to the earphone jack on the rear panel of the unit for listening to the audio output in seclusion. The internal speakers output will turn off automatically after the earphones have been connected. Excessively loud volume could damage your hearing. Turn down the volume before you connect the earphones and then raise the volume to a comfortable level. 12

14 System Connections Connecting to TV-Signal Input Connect the TV signal cable (the antenna cable, for example) to the RF Jack on the back of the unit so that you can receive television programs. 1. Connect TV signal input source from the aerial to the RF jack on the rear panel of the unit. 2. After connection, turn on the power of the unit. 3. Then press the INPUT button and the direction buttons to select DTV or ATV mode, press the OK button to confirm and conduct program selection. 13

15 Basic Operation Turning the TV On and Off Connect the power adaptor to wall AC Outlet. A front mounted indicator light will be illuminated red indicating the TV has power. Press the POWER button on the remote control or the TV set. The TV s indicator light will be illuminated blue indicating the TV is turned ON. Press the POWER button again to turn the TV off. A front mounted indicator light will be illuminated red indicating the TV is off. Source selecting The unit incorporates multiple input sources which can be selected via the INPUT button on the television or remote. Press the INPUT button to enter Input menu, as shown right. Use the direction buttons and the OK button On the input menu, press the direction button to select the desired input source. After several seconds, the TV will enter the selected source. Or after you selected the desired source press the OK button to enter the selected source immediately. Use the INPUT button and the OK button On the input menu, press the INPUT button repeatedly to select the desired input source. After several seconds, the TV will enter the selected source. Or after you selected the desired source press the OK button to enter the selected source immediately. Channel Selection 1. Using CH button 2. Use the CH.LIST button to display the channel list and press the button to select channel. 3. You have also quick access to the different TV channels by using the numeric buttons. 4. Using button on the remote control to view the last channel you were watching. The First Time Installation The first time you turn on the TV or after you reset all the settings to their original status, the Auto Installation will start. Follow the prompts on the screen to set the Country, Language, Auto Power Off and the Auto Search, then press OK button and the channel tuning starts immediately. All found TV programs will be saved into the channel list. You can load at the TV channel list by press the CH.LIST button. 14

16 TV Operation and System Setup Press the MENU button to display the setup menu. It includes different categories, such as Picture, Sound, Channel, Feature and Setup. You can change the category using the buttons and press OK button or the button to enter it. Using the buttons and press OK or button to enter the submenu of each option in the category. Press the MENU button to exit the submenu and return to the previous menu. To leave the system settings, press the EXIT button. Picture Setting PICTURE setting includes Picture Mode, Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Colour, Tint, Colour Temperature and Aspect Ratio. Picture Mode Press the buttons to select Picture Mode and then press OK or button, the available picture modes will be listed on the screen. With the buttons you can select Dynamic, Standard, Mild or User. If you select User, you can set the level of the Brightness/ Contrast/ Sharpness/ Colour/ Tin as you desired. Brightness/ Contrast/ Sharpness/ Colour/ Tint Press the button to select Brightness/ Contrast/ Sharpness/ Colour/ Tin and press OK or button to enter the adjusting bar, then press the button to adjust the level. Color Temperature Press the buttons to select Color Temperature and then press OK or, the available Colour Temperature will be listed on the screen. With the buttons you can select Standard, Cool or Warm. Aspect Ratio Press the buttons to select Aspect Ratio, then press OK or to enter it. With the buttons you can select your desired aspect ratio. Note: In different input source, the available aspect ratios may vary. 15

17 TV Operation and System Setup Noise Reduction Press the buttons to select Noise Reduction, then press OK or to enter it. With the buttons you can select Off, Low, Middle or High. Sound Setting The sound settings include the options for Sound Mode, Bass, Treble, Balance, Surround, AVL and SPDIF. Sound Mode Press the buttons to select Sound Mode and then press OK or, the available Sound Modes will be listed on the screen. With the buttons you can select Standard, Movie, Music, Speech or User. If you select User, you can set the levels of the Bass and Treble as you desired. Bass & Treble Press the buttons to select Bass/Treble and then press OK or to enter the adjusting bar. With the buttons you can adjust the level of it. Balance Press the buttons to select Balance and then press OK or to enter the adjusting bar. With the buttons you can adjust the level of balance. Surround Press the buttons to select Surround and then press OK or to list the available settings. With the buttons you can select Off or On. AVL Some times different TV stations volume level may be different from each other; this function will normalize audio level from all channels. Press the buttons to select AVL and then press OK or. Use the buttons to select On to activate this function or Off to deactivate this function. SPDIF Press the buttons to select SPDIF and press the OK or to list the available settings. With the buttons you can select Off, PCM or Auto. 16

18 TV Operation and System Setup Channel CHANNEL includes Channel Management, Favorite Management, Country, Auto Search, DTV Manual Search and ATV Manual Search. NOTE: The Channel category is only active in DTV and ATV mode. When in DTV mode, the ATV Manual Search is not available; and when in ATV mode, the DTV Manual Search is not available. Channel Management The option Channel Management includes Delete, Lock, Skip and Swap. Delete a program: 1. With the buttons you can choose a channel, which shall be deleted. 2. Press the red coloured button to delete it. Lock a program 1. With the buttons you can choose a channel, which shall be locked. 2. Press the green coloured button to lock it. Swap programs: (only for ATV programs) 1. With the button you can select a channel, which shall be moved. 2. Press the yellow coloured button. 3. Move the channel with the button on the position which you like. 4. Save the moving by pressing the MENU button. Skip a program: 1. With the buttons you can select a channel, which shall be moved. 2. Press the blue coloured button. 3. Press the blue coloured button again to cancel. NOTE: A skipped program is skipped when using the CH / buttons to browse the programs but can be watched by selecting in the channel list or using the number buttons. 17

19 TV Operation and System Setup Favorite Management In the Favorite Manager, there are four groups of your favorite programs: Fav1, Fav2, Fav3 and Fav4. With the buttons select a program and press the different coloured button to set it in different group. Press red coloured button to set it in group Fav1. Press green coloured button to set it in group Fav2. Press yellow coloured button to set it in group Fav3. Press blue coloured button to set it in group Fav4. Country Select this item and press the OK or button to enter the country list. With the buttons you can select your desired country. Auto Search Select this item and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Press the buttons to select the different search type: All, DTV or ATV. Press OK to start the auto search. A new window appears on the screen, where the status of the searching is documented. The values of the found TV broadcast programs of ATV, DTV and Radio are listed. After finishing of the searching, all found TV programs will be saved into the channel list. You can load at the TV channel list by press the CH.LIST button. Press the EXIT button to exit. NOTE: Please allow a few minutes for this feature to scan the entire range of available programs. DTV Manual Search 1. Press the buttons to select DTV Manual Search and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. The screen will display as shown on the right: 2. In the submenu, you can define on which channel shall be runs the search. You can also set the frequency and bandwidth. 3. Starts the searching by the press the Start button in the submenu. 4. To leave the DTV Manual tuning, press the EXIT or MENU button. 18

20 TV Operation and System Setup ATV Manual Tuning 1. Press the buttons to select ATV Manual Search and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. The screen will display as shown on the right: 2. Press the buttons to select desired item, press the OK or button to enter the submenu to set. 3. To leave the ATV Manual Search, press the EXIT or MENU button. Feature The Feature settings include the options for Lock, Language, Clock, Sleep Timer, Auto Power Off, Hearing Impaired and PVR/Timeshift. Lock Before you can change the settings, you have to insert the preset password to enter the menu. The default is The lock settings include the options for Lock Enable, Parental Guidance, Change Pin code and Hotel Mode. Lock Enable Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. With the buttons to select On or Off. Parental Guidance With this option you can define the level of the parental control. Change Pin code With this option you can change the preset password. Please insert the new password and confirm it again. Hotel Mode This television is designed with hotel mode. With this option you can set it. 19

21 TV Operation and System Setup Language Press the buttons to select language and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. In the submenu, you can select your desired OSD Language, Preferred Subtitle, Preferred Audio, DTV Teletext Language and ATV Teletext Language. Clock Press the buttons to select Clock and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. In the submenu, you can set the Date, Time, Time Zone and DST. Press MENU to save the changes and return to the previous menu. This function is not available when there is DTV signal present in DTV mode. Sleep Timer Set the Sleep Timer to have the TV to enter the standby mode automatically after the preset time interval. By repeatedly pressing the SLEEP button you can change the presets minutes. Press the buttons to select Sleep Timer and press the OK or button to enter the sleep timer list. Press the buttons to select the desired option. Auto Sleep Program the TV set to automatically switch off. Press the buttons to select Auto Sleep and press the OK or button to enter the auto sleep list. Press the buttons to select the desired option. Hearing Impaired For the people with poor hearing, some digital program is added some special subtitle when it is made. For example, the subtitle describes some background sound which can not been seen from the current menu. With this option you can activate or deactivate this function. Not all the digital programs have this function. PVR/Time shift (for DTV mode only) Press the button to select PVR/Time shift and press the OK button to enter the sub-menu, as shown right: Press the MENU button to return to the previous menu. Press the EXIT button to exit. 20

22 TV Operation and System Setup Record File Format Select between TS and PS. Partition Select Select a disk to store the recorded file. Press the button to select Partition Select and press the OK button to prompt a sub-menu. Press the button to select desired disk and press OK to confirm. Also you can format the selected storage device by press the red coloured button or set one of them as the default partition. The available item varies depending on the external USB device connected to the unit. NOTES: We cannot guarantee compatibility (operation and/or bus power) with all USB mass storage devices and assumes no responsibility for any loss of data that may occur when connected to this unit. With large amounts of data, it may take longer for the system to read the contents of a USB device. Unit may require longer time to format depending on the volume of the USB device. Some USB devices may not be properly recognized. Even when they are in a supported format, some files may not play or display depending on the content. Please make sure the USB device's file system is FAT32. USB device must be a high speed USB2.0 in order to operate properly. Timeshift Buffer Press the button to select Timeshift Buffer and press OK; then use the direction buttons to select the desired setting. Timer Press the button to select Timer and press OK, all the scheduled timer will be listed. In the timer list, you can: Use the red coloured button to delete a timer. Use the green coloured button to delete all the timers. Use the yellow coloured button to add a new timer. Use the blue coloured button to edit a timer. Record List Press the button to select Record List and press OK, all the record will be listed. In the record list, you can: Press the red coloured button to delete a timer. Press the OK button to play the record. 21

23 TV Operation and System Setup Setup The Setup category includes the options for OSD Timer, PC Setup, Blue Screen, Reset TV Setting and Software Upgrade. OSD Timer This option is for setting the OSD time out. Press the buttons to select OSD Timer and press he OK or button to enter the OSD timer list. Press the buttons to select the desired option. PC Setup This option is active only in PC mode. Press the buttons to select PC Setup and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Press the buttons to select the desired option. Auto Adjust Press the button to select Auto Adjust and press the OK or button to enter the submenu for selecting the desired option. H-Position/V-Position/Phase/Clock Press the button to select H-POSITION/V-Position/Phase/Clock and press the OK or button to enter the adjusting bar. Press the button to adjust the value. Blue Screen Press the button to select Blue Screen and press the OK or button to enter it. Press the button to select ON or OFF. Reset TV Setting With this option you can load and reset the factory default settings. All personally settings are deleted. Software Update With this option you can update the software. Firstly, insert the USB storage device including the new software to the USB port of the TV unit. Secondly, press the buttons to select Software Update and press the OK or button to enter it. Follow the prompt on the screen to complete the upgrade. 22

24 PVR Function In DTV Mode Only PVR function allows the unit to record live DTV program and make it available for reviewing at any time. NOTES: When PVR function is in progress, please don t unplug the power and the external USB device at will. When PVR function is active, the power indicator will blink with red and blue consecutively. Before start recording a program, please make sure the external USB device is connected. While recording, if the available storage space becomes low, the recording will be automatically stopped. Time Shift Function This function allows you to pause and fast forward/rewind normal Live DTV viewing at any time without missing any of the live broadcast, provide that a USB storage device is connected. 1. While viewing a DTV program, press the button on the remote, the playback stops and an icon appears at the bottom left corner of the screen. Press the button again to start the time shift. You can press the Display button on the remote to open the progress bar, as shown below: In the progress bar, the current time behind live program and the free USB storage are displayed. 2. During the progress of the time shift, press the button to continue playing the program from the point where it was paused. 3. Press the Stop button to stop the time shift. Recording program After you setup the Feature-PVR/Time shift, you can record a DTV program on the external USB device. 1. Select the desired program then press the REC. button on the remote control and an icon appears at the bottom left corner of the screen. Then press the button to start the record. 2. In the progress of the record, press the button to pause the recording. 3. Press the Stop button to stop the recording. The recorded file will be stored in the external USB device automatically. During recoding, press POWER button, a dialog box appears: With it you can define how the TV set behaves in the progress of the record. 23

25 PVR Function Playing recorded program You can play the selected program in the Recorded List. 1. Press the REC.LIST button on the remote control to enter the Record List, as shown right: 2. Press the button to select desired record file and press OK to play it. A progress bar of the playback appears on the screen. In the record list, you can press the red coloured button to delete the selected file. Schedule Recording Schedule record is a function which allows you to record future program. You can first set up a schedule record, and then unit will record the program when the program is broadcast. It will stop recording when the program finishes. For more detailed information, please see the EPG Function. 24

26 EPG Function In DTV Mode Only The electronic program guide (EPG) can be activated by pressing the EPG button as well and the EPG window appears on the screen. Press the red coloured button on the remote to change the EPG mode between Daily and Weekly. Press the yellow coloured button on the remote to return to the previous day. Press the blue coloured button on the remote to skip to the next day. Use the buttons to select your desired program. To display the information of a program In the EPG window, press the direction buttons to select a program then press the Display button to show the detailed information (the availability and amount of these program details will vary, depending on the particular broadcaster). To schedule record and reminder of a program (only for Daily mode) In the EPG window, press the green coloured button repeatedly to schedule the selected program as record, reminder or neither. When scheduled as record, once the program begins, the record will automatically start either. When scheduled as reminder, the TV set will remind you before the program begin. 25

27 TELETEXT Function Teletext is a free service broadcast by most TV stations which provides up-to-the-minute information on news, weather, television programs, stock prices and many other topics. The teletext decoder of this TV can support the SIMPLE and FASTEXT systems. SIMPLE (standard teletext) consists of a number of pages which are selected by directly entering the corresponding page number. FASTEXT is a more modern method allowing quick and easy selection of teletext information. Because the teletext pages are colour coded along the bottom of the screen and are selected by pressing the corresponding coloured button. In ATV mode, 1. TV/TXT button Press this button to display or close the teletext. 2. CONCEL button Press this button to disable teletext display and press again to resume. 3. INDEX button Press this button to select the index page. 4. REVEAL button Press this button once to display the concealed information, such as solution of riddles or puzzles; press again to remove the riddles information from the display. 5. HOLD button Press this button to hold the current page and press again to resume. 6. SIZE button Press this button the first time to double the size of teletext letters in the upper half of the screen, a second time to double the size of teletext letters in the lower half of the screen and a third time to resume normal status. 7. SUBPAGE button Several sub pages can be combined under a page number and are scrolled at an interval determined by the television station. The presence of sub pages is indicated by, for example, 3/6 beneath the time, which means that you are looking at the 3rd page of a total of 6 pages. If you want to look at a sub-page for a longer period of time, press the SUBPAGE button. Pressing the SUBPAGE button again, the current sub-page appears. 26

28 NICAM Function The unit supports NICAM function. Under NICAM TV broadcast: 1. When receiving stereo audio signals, press the NICAM/A2 button on the remote control repeatedly to select the sound tracks between NICAM STEREO and Mono, the screen will show the corresponding display as shown below: 2. When receiving bilingual audio signals, press the NICAM/A2 button on the remote control repeatedly to shift the sound tracks between NICAM DUAL I, NICAM DUAL II, NICAM DUAL I+II and Mono and the screen will show the corresponding display as shown below: 3. When receiving mono audio signals, press the NICAM/A2 button on the remote control repeatedly to shift the sound tracks between NICAM Mono and Mono and the screen will show the corresponding display as shown below: Under A2 TV broadcast: 1. Under DTV mode: When receiving DTV signal, press the NICAM/A2 button on the remote control to enter the audio language selecting menu. Press the button to select desired language and press the OK button to confirm. Under PC, HDMI, AV, YPBPR mode: When receiving PC, HDMI, YPBPR, AV signal, press the NICAM/A2 button on the remote control repeatedly to shift the sound tracks among L+L, L+R and R+R. 27

29 Media Playback This unit is designed with a USB ports so that you can connect your USB device and playback the files in the USB device. NOTES: The recognition speed of a USB storage device may depend on each device. Please do not turn off the TV or unplug the USB device when the connected USB storage device is working. When such device is suddenly separated or unplugged, the stored files or the USB storage device may be damaged. Please do not connect the USB storage device which was artificially maneuvered on the PC. The device may cause the product to malfunction or fail to be played. Never forget to use only a USB storage device which has normal media files. Please use only a USB storage device which was formatted as a FAT32 or NTFS file system provided with the Windows operating system. In case of a storage device formatted as a different utility program which is not supported by Windows, it may not be recognized. Some USB storage devices may not be supported or operated smoothly. If the name of a folder or file is too long, it will not be displayed or recognized. Please backup the important file because a data of USB device may be damaged. Data management is consumer's responsibility and in consequence the manufactures does not cover the product bearing data damage. Media Playback It s available to play the photo, music, movie and text files in the USB device. The On Screen Display may be different from your set. Images are an example to assist with the TV operations. 1. Connect a USB device, then press the INPUT button to enter the Input Source menu. Press the button to select Media mode and press OK to display the media menu as shown right: 2. Press the direction button to select your desired media type (photo, music, movie or e-book) and press OK to enter the corresponding submenu. The palyback procedures of these four type files are similar and we will use Music as an example. 28

30 Media Playback 3. In the Music submenu as shown right, press the direction button to select your storage device and press the OK button to open it. The songs list will appears. 4. In the songs list, you can use the buttons to select one of them and press the red coloured button on the remote to delete it; also you can press the green coloured button to add all the songs to the playlist or delete all of them from the playlist. Press CH buttons for page up or page down. Press OK button to enter your selected items. Press Exit button to exit the Music player. Press buttons to select a song and after several seconds the playback will start automatically. Also, you can press OK or button to play it immediately, as shown right: Function Buttons Button Function Button Function Start or pause the playback Stop the playback. Go to your desired position. Select the repeat mode. Search backward or forward. Return to the previous song or skip to the next song. Open or close the play list. Close the screen display. Please refer to the instruction manual of the disc. The unit will play most recordable (CD-R) or erasable (CD-RW) CDs, but playback of CD-R or CD-RW discs created on a computer requires proper formatting and finalization of the disc for audio playback. Some computers and/or software programs may not be capable of creating compatible discs. About Disc Terms Title Generally, pictures or music compressed on a DVD are divided into several sections, title. Track A segment of picture or music on a CD. Each track is numbered for searching. Chapter The smaller section unit of pictures or music in a DVD under the title, usually one title is comprised of one or more chapters and each of them is numbered for easy searching. But some discs may not have a recording by chapter facility. Preparation 1. Turn on the unit and press the DVD button to enter DVD mode. 2. Gently insert the disc, with the label side toward the back of the television, into the disc tray slot until about half of the disc is in the tray and then the disc will be drawn into the disc tray and loaded automatically. 3. Press the EJECT button to eject the disc, but the disc can not be drawn into the disc tray by pressing the EJECT button again. You must push the disc until it is drawn into the disc tray automatically. 30

32 DVD Playback Operation This unit is designed with a disc slot so that you can playback the files on the disc. NOTES: Select DVD mode before insert disc. Use of poor quality discs could result in damage to the TV set. DVD players and discs are coded by region. These regional codes must match the played discs. If the codes don t match, the disc cannot be played. This player s default code is 3. Basic Playback Start playback After the disc has been drawn into the disc tray, the playback will automatically start. Some discs do not start automatically. Press the button to start playback. Some discs may start playback with a menu. Use the direction buttons to select menu options and press the OK to start. You may also press the number buttons to select a menu option directly. Many discs will not allow this during start-up. Pause playback 1. During playback, press the button once to pause the playback 2. Press the button to resume normal playback. Stop playback 1. During playback, press the STOP button once to stop playback. For some discs the player can recall the location where stopped, such as DVDs and CDs. 2. Press the button to resume playback from the location where playback was stopped. 3. Press the STOP button twice to stop completely. Play must then resume from the title beginning. Previous and Next 1. During playback, pressing the button will restart the current chapter Pressing the button twice to go to the previous chapter. 3. Each press of the button during playback will skip the current chapter and play the next one. 4. In case of CD and JPEG discs the next track or photo is selected. Fast forward and Fast reverse 1. Press the button to fast forward through the disc. Each time the button is pressed, the fast forward motion speed changes. 2. Press the button to fast reverse through the disc. Each time the button is pressed, the fast reverse motion speed changes. 3. Press /OK to resume normal playback. D.REP For DVD disc, press the REPEAT button repeatedly, the repeat mode will be display as shown: chapter title all off. For CD disc, press the D.REP button repeatedly, the repeat mode will be display as shown: single track all tracks off. For JPEG disc, press the D.REP button repeatedly, the repeat mode will be display as shown: Shuffle Random Single Repeat One Repeat All Repeat Off.

33 DVD Playback Operation D.SUB The DVD player can support multiple kinds of subtitles. When you play a multi-subtitle disc you can press the D.SUB button on the remote control to select different subtitles. Note: This function is invalid for CD and JPEG. D.TIT With some DVD discs pressing this key will display the title or playback control title. You can then use the digit buttons to select the item you prefer. D.ANG When enjoying sports, concert or theatre, press this key to watch same actions in different angles. (Valid for discs possessing this function) Using a disc recorded in multi-angle you can view the scene from different angles, for example, front, side, whole view and exterior scene. D.GOTO Press the D.GOTO button once to display the search menu. Press again to cancel. Use the button to select the item you require. Press the OK button to confirm. Use the 0-9 buttons to enter the desired time and then the player will play according to the selected time. D.MENU Press this key to display root menu, select item according to your preference. D.LAN When you play a multi-language DVD disc you can use the D.LAN button on the remote control to select a desired language. Special Function Playback JPEG Playback JPEG is a common picture format that requires small amounts of storage per image and has low loss in resolution. Hundreds of pictures can be stored on a disc in this format. In order to view JPEG photo albums, you can ask your film development company to make a PICTURE CD when they develop your film. When a disc containing standard JPEG picture files is inserted into the player, a root menu will be displayed automatically. 1. Use the button buttons to select a file then press OK. The slide show will commence. 2. Press the buttons to move between pictures. 3. Press the button to stop on the current picture. Press OK to resume normal playing. 4. Press the STOP button to preview the pictures behind currently playing picture in the way of small pictures. Press the button to resume normal playback. 5. During playback, press the button to rotate the currently displayed picture. This function only activates for the current picture; once another picture is displayed, rotation will be cancelled automatically. 32

34 DVD System Setup In DVD mode only. Press the D.SET button to display the DVD setup menu. It includes different categories, such as language setup, screen setup, audio setup, custom setup and exit setup mode. You can change the category using the buttons and press OK button or the button to enter it. Using the buttons and press OK or button to enter the submenu of each option in the category. Press the button to exit the submenu and return to the previous menu. To exit the system settings, press the D.SET button or use the buttons to select Exit Setup Mode. Make sure the disc is stopped playing completely before setup. 1. Language Setup Press the buttons to select language Setup and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. In the submenu, you can select your desired OSD Language, Menu, Preferred Audio, Preferred Subtitle and Encoding. OSD Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. With the buttons to select English, French or Spanish, and press the OK button to confirm. Menu You can use the buttons to select English, French, Spanish, or Others. Audio You can use the buttons to select English, French, Spanish, or Others. Subtitle You can use the buttons to select English, French, Spanish, Others or Off. Encoding You can use the buttons to select Western European or Central European. 2. Screen Setup In the submenu, you can select your desired TV Type, Screen Saver, TV System, Video Output, Brightness and Contrast. TV Type Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. With the buttons to select 4:3PS, 4:3LB or 16:9, and press the OK button to confirm. Screen Saver Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. With the buttons to select On or Off, and press the OK button to confirm. TV System You can select NTSC, PAL or Auto. 33

35 DVD System Setup Video output Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Use the buttons to select your desired option. Brightness Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Use the buttons to select Normal, Bright or Soft. Contrast You can use the buttons to select your desired option. 3. Audio Setup Press the buttons to select Audio Setup and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Downmix Press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Use the buttons to select Lo/Ro or Lt/Rt. 4. Custom Setup Press the buttons to select Custom Setup and press the OK or button to enter the submenu. Style There are four styles for you to choose, you can use the buttons to select. Angle Use the buttons to select On or Off. Default Press the buttons to select Default and press the OK or button to enter the submenu, select Read and press OK to confirm. Once you do this operation, the system will reset to the default settings. 5. Exit Setup Mode Press the buttons to select Exit Setup Mode to exit the system settings. 34

36 Troubleshooting SYMPTOM There is no sound. LED has no display. There is no picture or picture jitters up and down Unsteady. The remote control does not work. The player cannot play. CHECK ITEM Make sure the system connection is correct. Make sure the speakers are not muted. Set the correct sound mode. Is your disc dirty or warped? If so, clean or replace it. Make sure the unit is turned on and the connections are correct. Make sure the power adapter is correctly connected. Check if the connections with the external AV signal source are correct. Correctly set the items in the picture menu. Check if the video type input signal is not corresponding to the unit. Make sure the unit is turned on and in the correct video type. Is your disc dirty or warped? If so, clean or replace it. Make sure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the player. Make sure the remote control is pointing at the player. Make sure the batteries are inserted and the polarity is correct. Make sure the battery is not weak. Make sure a disc is loaded. Make sure the disc is loaded with labeled side up. Disc should be clean, not dirty or warped. The region code of the DVD discs should match the region code of the Player. Make sure water condensation has not occurred. If it has, remove the disc and keep the player power on until the moisture evaporates. Other Notes: Static or other external interference may cause the player to behave abnormally. If this occurs, unplug the power-supply cord from the outlet and plug it in again to reset the player. If the problems persist, then please disconnect the power and consult a qualified technician. 35
