13 RMOT CONTROL KY FUNCTIONS When using the remote control, aim it at the remote control sensor on the TV. INPUT TV INPUT POWR TV DVD POWR TV INPUT Switches the set on from standby or off to standby. Returns to the TV viewing from any mode. Switches the set on from standby. Press the D / button and then button to select the desired input source (TV, AV, AV, S-Video, AV, AV (except PCRV*, PCRA*), Component, RB, or HDMI). INTRODUCTION ARC Selects your desired picture format. LIST XIT MNU I/II SLP Brightness adjustment Adjusts screen brightness. It returns to the default settings brightness by changing mode source. PIP Switches the sub picture PIP, DW mode. SIZ Adjusts the sub picture size. POSITION Moves the sub picture. VOL Q.VIW PR PIP PR - /+ Selects a programme for the sub picture. MUT PIP INPUT Selects the input source for the sub picture in PIP/Twin picture mode * 0 FAV TIM RVAL INDX? Coloured buttons VCR/DVD control buttons XIT These buttons are used for teletext (only TLTXT models) or Programme edit. Controls some video cassette recorders or DVD players when you have already selected DVD or VCR mode button. Clears all on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing from any menu. LIST MNU I/II SLP Displays the programme table. Selects a menu. Selects the sound output. Sets the sleep timer.

14 INTRODUCTION MOD Selects the remote operating modes. INTRODUCTION INPUT TV POWR TV INPUT DVD ARC VCR TXT PIP SIZ POSTION PIP PR- PIP PR+ PIP INPUT TLTXT BUTTONS THUMBSTICK (Up/Down/Left Right) These buttons are used for teletext. For further details, see the Teletext section. Allows you to navigate the on-screen menus and adjust the system settings to your preference. Accepts your selection or displays the current mode. XIT LIST MNU I/II SLP VOLUM UP /DOWN Q.VIW Adjusts the volume. Returns to the previously viewed programme. MUT Switches the sound on or off. Programme UP/DOWN Selects a programme. 0~9 number button Selects a programme. Selects numbered items in a menu. VOL Q.VIW PR FAV * Displays the selected favourite programme. No function MUT 6 INSTALLIN BATTRIS FAV * TIM RVAL INDX? Open the battery compartment cover on the back side and install the batteries matching correct polarity (+ with +, - with -). Install two.v AA batteries. Don t mix old or used batteries with new ones. Close cover.

15 INSTALLATION STAND INSTALLATION This feature is not available for all models. A INSTALLATION B C Place the set with the screen facing down on a cushion or soft cloth as shown in Figures. Before unfolding the stand,please make sure two locks (A)on the bottom of the stand push outward. Pull the stand out as shown above in Figures ~. After unfolding the stand,please insert and tighten the screws in the holes (B)on the bottom of the stand. When connecting cables to the set,do not disengage the lock (C). This may cause the set to fall,causing serious bodily injury and serious damage to the set.! NOT Figures shown here may be slightly different from your set. When closing the stand for storage First remove the screws in the holes (B)on the bottom of the stand.and then pull two Hooks (D)of the stand bottom and fold the stand into the back of the set. After folding,push two Locks (A)of the stand bottom outward. D A B

16 INSTALLATION STAND INSTALLATION (Only 6LCR*, LCR*, LCR*, LR*) Carefully place the product screen side down on a cushioned surface that will protect product and screen from damage. INSTALLATION Place the product stand on the product as shown. Install the bolts securely, in the back of the product in the holes provided.

Stand type Arrange the cables as shown picture. INSTALLATION Stand type Hold the C A B L M A N A M N T with both hands and push it as shown. CABL MANAMNT Connect the cables as necessary. To connect an additional equipment, see the x t e r n a l e q u i p m e n t C o n n e c t i o n s section. Reinstall the C A B L M A N A M N T as shown.

After connecting the cables neatly, arrange the cables to the Cable Holder. To connect an additional equipment, see the x t e r n a l e q u i p m e n t C o n n e c t i o n s section. INSTALLATION Install the C A B L M A N A M N T as shown. CABL MANAMNT Bundle the cables using the supplied twister holder. HOW TO RMOV TH CABL MANAMNT - Hold the C A B L M A N A M N T with both hands and pull it upward. - Hold the C A B L M A N A M N T with both hands and pull it downward. (Only LCR*)! NOT Do not hold the CABL MANAMNT when moving the product. - If the product is dropped, you may be injured or the product may be broken. 6

19 BASIC CONNCTION (LXR*) Hold the cover with both hands and pull it backward. Connect the cables as necessary. To connect an additional equipment, see the x t e r n a l e q u i p m e n t C o n n e c t i o n s section. INSTALLATION Antenna Bundle the cables using the supplied twister holder. SWIVL STAND (LXR*) The TV can be conveniently swiveled on its stand 0 to the left or right to provide the optimum viewing angle. 7

20 INSTALLATION The TV can be installed in various ways such as on a wall, or on a desktop etc. The TV is designed to be mounted horizontally. ROUNDIN Power Supply INSTALLATION nsure that you connect the earth ground wire to prevent possible electric shock. If grounding methods are not possible, have a qualified electrician install a separate circuit breaker. Do not try to ground the unit by connecting it to telephone wires, lightening rods, or gas pipes. 21 HOW TO JOIN TH PRODUCT ASSMBLY TO TH WALL TO PROTCT TH ST TUMBLIN Set it up close to the wall so the product doesn t fall over when it is pushed backwards. The instructions shown below is a safer way to set up the product, which is to fix it on the wall so the product doesn t fall over when it is pulled in the forward direction. It will prevent the product from falling for-ward and hurting people. It will also prevent the product from damage caused by fall. Please make sure that children don t climb on or hang from the product. LCD TV models Use the eye-bolts or TV brackets/bolts to fix the product to the wall as shown in the picture. (If your product has the bolts in the eye-bolts position before inserting the eye-bolts, loosen the bolts.) * Insert the eye-bolts or TV brackets/bolts and tighten them securely in the upper holes. Secure the wall brackets with the bolts (not provided as parts of the product, must purchase separately) on the wall. Match the height of the bracket that is mounted on the wall. INSTALLATION Plasma TV models Use a sturdy rope (not provided as parts of the product, must purchase separately) to tie the product. It is safer to tie the rope so it becomes horizontal between the wall and the product.! NOT When moving the product to another place undo the ropes first. Use a product holder or a cabinet that is big and strong enough for the size and weight of the product. To use the product safely make sure that the height of the bracket that is mounted on the wall is same as that of the product. 9

22 CONNCTIONS & STUP To prevent the equipment damage, never plug in any power cords until you have finished connecting all equipment. ANTNNA CONNCTION For optimum picture quality, adjust antenna direction. An antenna cable and converter are not supplied. Multi-family Dwellings/Apartments (Connect to wall antenna socket) Wall Antenna Socket ANTNNA IN RF Coaxial Wire (7 ohm) CONNCTIONS & STUP VHF Antenna UHF Antenna Outdoor Antenna Single-family Dwellings /Houses (Connect to wall jack for outdoor antenna) Turn clockwise to tighten. In poor signal areas, to get better picture quality, install a signal amplifier to the antenna as shown to the right. If signal needs to be split for two TVs, use an antenna signal splitter for connection. VHF UHF ANTNNA IN Signal Amplifier 0

23 VCR STUP To avoid picture noise (interference), leave an adequate distance between the VCR and TV. Typically a frozen still picture from a VCR. If the : picture format is used; the fixed images on the sides of the screen may remain visible on the screen. When connecting with an antenna Connect the ANT OUT socket of the VCR to the ANTNNA IN socket on the set. VCR ANT IN IN Connect the antenna cable to the ANT IN socket of the VCR. Press the PLAY button on the VCR and match the appropriate programme between the TV and VCR for viewing. HDMI IN VARIABL AUDIO OUT ANTNNA IN ANT OUT S-VIDO OUTPUT SWITCH OUT (R) AUDIO (L) VIDO CONNCTIONS & STUP When connecting with a RCA cable Connect the AUDIO/VIDO jacks between TV and VCR. Match the jack colors (Video = yellow, Audio Left = white, and Audio Right = red). VCR ANT IN ANT OUT S-VIDO OUTPUT SWITCH IN OUT (R) AUDIO (L) VIDO Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR owner s manual.) AV AV Select AV input source using the INPUT button on the remote control. - If connected to AV IN, select AV input source. (except PCRV*, PCRA*) COMPONNT IN VIDO AV IN AUDIO S-VIDO VIDO ( MONO) AUDIO! NOT If you have a mono VCR, connect the audio cable from the VCR to the AUDIO L/MONO jack of the set.

24 CONNCTIONS & STUP VCR STUP When connecting with a uro Scart Connect the uro scart socket of the VCR to the AV uro scart socket on the set. AV AV COMPONNT IN VIDO AUDIO Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR owner s manual.) AV IN S-VIDO VIDO ( MONO) AUDIO CONNCTIONS & STUP! Select AV input source with using the INPUT button on the remote control. - If connected to AV uro scart socket, select AV input source. NOT (R) AUDIO (L) If the S-VIDO(Y/C) signal is received through the uro scart socket (AV), you must change to the S- Video mode. If you want to use the URO scart cable, you have to use the signal shielded uro scart cable. When connecting with an S-Video cable VCR AUDIO/ VIDO Connect the S-VIDO output of the VCR to the S-VIDO input on the set. The picture quality is improved; compared to normal composite (RCA cable) input. VCR ANT IN ANT OUT S-VIDO OUTPUT SWITCH IN OUT (R) AUDIO (L) VIDO Connect the audio outputs of the VCR to the AUDIO input jacks on the set. AV AV COMPONNT IN Insert a video tape into the VCR and press PLAY on the VCR. (Refer to the VCR owner s manual.) VIDO AV IN AUDIO Select AV input source with using the INPUT button on the remote control. S-VIDO VIDO ( MONO) AUDIO! NOT If both S-VIDO and VIDO sockets have been conneced to the S-VHS VCR simultaneously, only the S- VIDO can be received.

25 XTRNAL QUIPMNT CONNCTIONS Connect the AUDIO/VIDO jacks between TV and external equipment. Match the jack colors (Video = yellow, Audio Left = white, and Audio Right = red) AV IN R AUDIO L/MONO VIDO Select AV input source with using the INPUT button on the remote control. Connect the audio outputs of the DVD to the C O M P O N N T I N A U D I O jacks on the set. Turn on the DVD player, insert a DVD. Refer to the DVD player's manual for operating instructions.! NOT Component Input ports To get better picture quality, connect a DVD player to the component input ports as shown below. 27 When connecting with a S-Video cable Connect the S-VIDO output of the DVD to the S-VIDO input on the set. DVD (R) AUDIO (L) S-VIDO Connect the audio outputs of the DVD to the AUDIO input jacks on the set. AV AV COMPONNT IN Turn on the DVD player, insert a DVD. VIDO AV IN AUDIO Select AV input source with using the INPUT button on the remote control. Refer to the DVD player's manual for operating instructions. When connecting with a HDMI cable S-VIDO VIDO ( MONO) AUDIO CONNCTIONS & STUP Connect the HDMI output of the DVD to the HDMI IN jack on the set. RB IN (PC/DTV) HDMI IN Select HDMI input source with using the INPUT button on the remote control. RMOT AUDIO IN CONTROL IN (RB) RS-C IN (CONTROL& SRVIC) VARIABL AUDIO OUT Refer to the DVD player's manual for operating instructions. DVD HDMI-DVD OUTPUT! NOT TV can receive the video and audio signal simultaneously with using a HDMI cable. If the DVD supports Auto HDMI function, the DVD output resolution will be automatically set to 80x70p. If the DVD does not support Auto HDMI, you need to set the output resolution appropriately. To get the best picture quality, adjust the output resolution of the DVD to 80x70p.

35 TLTXT This feature is not available in all countries. Teletext is a free service broadcast by most TV stations which gives up-to-the-minute information on news, weather, television programmes, share prices and many other topics. The teletext decoder of this TV can support the SIMPL, TOP and FASTXT systems. SIMPL (standard teletext) consists of a number of pages which are selected by directly entering the corresponding page number. TOP and FASTXT are more modern methods allowing quick and easy selection of teletext information. Switch on/off Press the TXT button to switch to teletext. The initial page or last page appears on the screen. Two page numbers, TV station name, date and time are displayed on the screen headline. The first page number indicates your selection, while the second shows the current page displayed. Press the TXT or XIT button to switch off teletext. The previous mode reappears. SIMPL Text A Page selection nter the desired page number as a three digit number with the NUMBR buttons. If during selection you press a wrong number, you must complete the three digit number and then re-enter the correct page number. The yellow field denotes the next group and the blue field indicates the next block. A Block / group / page selection With the blue button you can progress from block to block. Use the yellow button to proceed to the next group with automatic overflow to the next block. With the green button you can proceed to the next existing page with automatic overflow to the next group. Alternatively the PR+ button can be used. The red button permits to return to previous selection. Alternatively the PR- button can be used. A Direct page selection Corresponding to the SIMPL teletext mode, you can select a page by entering it as a three digit number using the NUMBR buttons in TOP mode. A HOLD Stops the automatic page change which will occur if a teletext page consists of or more sub pages. The number of sub pages and the sub page displayed is, usually, shown on the screen below the time. 60 TV MNU Sound Menu Options NICAM RCPTION If the set is equipped with the receiver for NICAM reception, the high quality NICAM (Near Instantaneous Companding Audio Multiplex) digital sound can be received. Sound output can be selected according to the type of received broadcast as follows by pressing the I/II button repeatedly. When NICAM mono is received, you can select NICAM MONO or FM MONO. When NICAM stereo is received, you can select NICAM STRO or FM MONO. If the stereo signal is weak, switch to FM mono. When NICAM dual is received, you can select NICAM DUAL I, NICAM DUAL II or NICAM DUAL I+II or MONO.
