2 New Single CCFL Lamp Inverters Microsemi is proud to announce the introduction of two new Single Lamp CCFL Inverters series to drive a wide variety of 4-12 TFT LCD Displays The new families will substitute and enhance the current Microsemi offerings identified by Part Numbers starting by LXMG1617 and LXMG1618.

4 DIMMING Features COMMON to Both Series The modules include a dimming input that permits brightness control from a DC voltage source, a PWM signal or an external potentiometer (Universal Dimming Input). Analog Dimming is available at < 5:1 Ratio Digital Dimming is provided through a patented burst drive that energizes the lamp (RangeMax ) designed to ensure that no premature lamp degradation occurs, while allowing significant power savings at lower dim levels.

5 Features COMMON to Both Series PANELMATCH Ability to externally program the output current in steps of 0.5mA or 1mA depending on the inverter The SAME module can thus be used to drive different panels (simpler supply chain and reduced inventory carrying costs for customers using multiple displays)

7 A Series Offered in both a wide dimming version (LXMG1617A) and a standard dimming version (LXMG1618A) Integrate the newer highly integrated LX1691B CCFL backlight controller to provide wider dimming range (typically 100:1+) and wider temperature range (-30 C to 80 C) compared to the existing solutions (LXMG1617 and LXMG1618 series) DATASHEETS The new modules have been designed to be an upgraded drop in replacement for the existing solutions. Therefore datasheets are extremely similar (see the noted exceptions of BRITE minimum input voltage level and Burst Frequency on the specific datasheets) PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS the physical dimensions have been kept the same as the original LXMG1617/1618 modules.

10 LXMG181x Series Very High Performance Single CCFL Lamp Inverter that integrate the absolute latest Microsemi CCFL IC to provide Wider input voltage range (VIN) at Fully Regulated Lamp Current Enhanced Lamp Driving capability (VLAMP and the Striking capability) The above allow fewer part numbers (4 instead of 24) to drive an extended list of displays thus greatly simplifying the customer supply change and minimizing the need of re-qualification and redesign of the backlight driving units in case a display is changed.
