2 VM700 AIR FLOW METER To take VM700 into use: 1. Open the delivery case. 2. Lift VM700 out of case. 3. Install 0.5m tube to left end flange. 4. Use rubber adapters to fit to calibration sampler exhaust. 5. Connect mains cord. 6. Wait about 15 mins to let electronics to settle. 7. Turn start switch to start. 8. Start the sampler. 9. OTHERWISE IT STANDS - C TEMPERATURES WELL.

6 VOLUME METER VM700 GENERAL SENYA, VOLUME METER 700 is a measuring apparatus that can be used to measure air flow of air samplers. It is connected to the exthaust pipe of air sampler, with flexible tube, inside Ø 160 mm. The principle of VM700 is to measure the pressure difference over calibrated orifice. To be able to calculate the true air volumes, there are also static pressure sensor and temperature sensor installed just before the orifice. The equipment is packed into a plywood case which is well suited as a support fo the equipment. TECHNICAL Operating voltage 230 VAC/50 Hz, 110VAC/50Hz or 24VDC. Operating temperature 0 C C. Pressure difference transducer changes the pressure difference into a 4-20 ma message. This message is sent to the micro processor based panel meter. PANEL METER Panel meter will calculate 4-20 ma message into Pascals, displayed on channel A. This channel A message is calculated into m3/h, displayed on channel B. From this message micro processor calculates total volume m 3, displayed in channel A+B. Time that has been used will be shown in channel A-B, both channel lights are off. Time will first be displayed in h/min/s and later h/min. The calculation formula in panel meter is a* p b, where a=11.xxxxx and b=0.4xxxx These parameters can be found in channel B program, PArA A =a and PArA B=b. Connect mains cord into power supply. The VOLUME METER has now electricity and you can see the panel meter digits red. Normally no channel light is red meaning that you have channel A-B, TIME channel on. Now it is a good time to learn to use the panel meter, do this indoors, it is more convinient. Push button P,P,P... so you will have different channels rolling on; A, B, A+B, A-B and then A... HOW TO DO IT There is a RESET switch on front left side of the measuring unit. By pushing it the panelmeter will reset memory. In panel meter program there is a parameter PArA C xxx It means that if pressure difference values are under PArA C values, the panel meter does not calculate. At factory we have set PArA C value to 30 Pascals. This means that when you stop your sampler first and it will slow down and the pressure difference will go down, the PArA C value will automatically stop the calculation when pressure difference goes under 30 Pascals. Then you can go to meter and turn to STOP, read the total volume and time values and reset the panel meter= back to START. Now the panel meter is ready to start as soon as pressure difference goes over 40 Pascals. You can now go and peacefully change the filter and start the sampler. If there will be an electric break the panel meter will stop all functions and store in its memory all data that was collected. When electricity comes back the panel meter will go on counting if also the sampler has started. If sampler will not start after the electric break the panel meter will stay in PAUSE condition and wait. If you want to have also Pa and m3/h readings, you of course have to do it before stopping the sampler. SERVICE During the years the gray PVC pipe will slowly turn to lighter color, but it does not weaken the material. Orifice plate is of stainless steel and should not need any service. Maybe a good practice is to check the zero level of pressure difference sender once a year. It is also good to check the flexible tube between air sampler and volume meter everytime when you take VM700 into use. The flexible tube between air sampler and VM 700 is VENA-A and it does not tolerate so well the cold.

Connect VM700 to your samplers exhaust tube 2. Turn Power ON in both equipments a Close carbon line valve b Wait about 10minutes 5. Reset VM700 memory, by pushing RESET 6. Turn START the sampler with 30Hz 7. Read values from sampler channel A1, deltap and write 10 values to first red value list, above starting F13 8. Read values from VM700 channel A2, air flow and write 10 values to first red value list above, starting H13 9. Repeat the above with 40 Hz and 50 Hz 10. Copy green values to F29...F31 and I29...I Copy blue values to G29...G J =G29...G31/3.6 to change m3/h to dm3/s 13. Choose I29...I31 to J29...J Choose Chart Wizard 15. Choose XY- ( Scatter ) 16. Choose scatter with data points connected by lines. 17. Choose finish 18. On display you get a chart, now choose the line drawn on chart 19. Choose Chart/ Add trendline 20. Choose Power and also from options choose; Display equation on chart and display R-squared value on chart 21. Now on the chart there are display factors of this calibration.
