1 3EM20188 Issue 4 Maintenance Section TBD 2009 Chart 13 XMTR Output Level Calibration (No PA) PURPOSE Use this procedure to calibrate the UD-35() Transmitter output in radio configuration that is not equipped with the optional PA. This procedure sets the high and low rails that the controller uses to control the output of the XMTR and for alarming. TOOLS REQUIRED PC With RS-232 Interface Cable Alcatel PN DVM Power Meter With Medium Power Sensor Adapter, SMA-M to Type N-F Test Lead and Tool Kit PROCEDURE DANGER Possibility of Injury to Personnel Exposure to energy radiated at microwave frequencies can cause eye injury and eventual blindness. Do not operate the system with a waveguide port unterminated. WARNING Possibility of Damage to Equipment Wear ground straps according to local office procedures. CAUTION Possibility of Service Interruption This is an out-of-service procedure when on a nonstandby (unprotected) system. Carrier Null A Carrier Null B 3 Abort Set your Tx Level to 10 db below nominal HIGH power using the ( ) potentiometer on your module. After this is done, click Next. 4 Next PWR 5 Set your Tx Level to nominal HIGH power using the ( ) potentiometer on your module. After this is done, click NEXT. 6 Abort Back Next EXAMPLE: EXPECTED OUTPUT LEVEL AT TOP OF STACK = 14 dbm. LABEL ON DIPLEXER FILTER/XMT FILTER SHOWS INSERTION LOSS IS 2 db. NOMINAL HIGH OUT OF XMTR = 16 dbm (14 dbm + 2 dbm = 16 dbm). If labeled READ X.X dbm, perform XMT Power Calibration Figure If labeled READ X.X Vdc, perform XMT Power Calibration Figure Ensure ATPC is disabled. 1. CONNECT METER WITH 50 OHM SENSOR TO CONNECTOR. 2. MEASURE ITOR LEVEL ON METER. PWR 3. MAKE NEW LABEL FOR : READ [X.X dbm] AT TOP OF RACK EXPECTED OUTPUT LEVEL AT TOP OF STACK (REFER TO FIGURE ). MAKE NEW LABEL: EXPECTED OUTPUT LEVEL AT TOP OF STACK DC ITOR CALIBRATION READ [X.X Vdc] MEASURED LEVEL ( 2). 4. ATTACH NEW LABEL. XTAL 5. DISCONNECT TEST EQUIPMENT. 6. GO TO CHART 5 ( 5) BELOW.
