For this project you have to do three things: 1 Each L must write at least one poem (so there will be minimum 4 poems/group) 2 Each group must perform 2 of their poems 3 Each group must choose a project idea from big sheets (stage 4) If you choose to make e.g. a tea towel or T-shirt design, you only have to make the design and arrange the poems + illustrations on the drawings (you have to perform 2 of the poems). If you choose to make a book, you have to prepare the pages and the cover and staple them together (you have to perform 2 of the poems). You can choose other ideas as well. 1 What do we want to do with our poems?... 2 Who does what and when? Who? What? Where from? When? Done? Grandma s Going to the Grocery Store

You eat me for breakfast But first crack my shell I m fresh then I m tasty It not - what a smell! 2 Write your own riddle: Choose a word (e.g. elephant, watch, suitcase, hat, onion, guitar, etc.) Write a poem about your word, but do not say what it is. You must write 4 lines make line 2 rhyme with line 4 3 Ask you friend to read it and answer What am I?... B HOW TO WRITE A SIMPLE FUNNY POEM Write a funny poem about your parents or teachers, or a friend or a pop/movie star etc. 1 Choose 2 words 2 Write down a lot of words that rhyme with each other 3 Write your poem Line 1: ends with your person s name Line 2 ends with a word that rhymes with the name Line 3 and 4 make the poem sound funny (they also rhyme) 4 Draw pictures.

C HOW TO WRITE A TONGUE TWISTER 1 Write a four-line rhyming tongue twister Make four lists, e.g.: bubbles Béla burst bitter ball Bakos beat broken brother Bea bite big bank, Betty bought brown 2 Write down the first line of a story that makes sense, e.g.: Béla Bakos bought a big ball 3 Tap the table and say your line to the beat one two three four 4 Add a second line, using words from your list, e.g.: But the ball he bought was broken 5 Write 2 more lines, e.g.: Béla s brother broke the ball and Béla broke his brother s nose Use rhymes Practise saying it.
22 play with english 4.1. How to write A HOW TO WRITE A SHAPE POEM... A shape poem is a poem like a picture. Running giraffe, smoke and The Lamp are all shape poems. Now, you write a shape poem. 1 Write a word on a piece of paper i.e. apple, rain, cloud, time, music, autumn, letters 2 Write a sentence about the word i.e. I like apples 3 Write your sentence like your word. Or write your sentences like a picture you imagine. 4 Show your shape poem to someone in your group.... B HOW TO WRITE A HAIKU The caterpillar and What a day... are haikus. A haiku has 3 lines. The first and the third have 5 syllables, the second has 7 1 Write a word on a piece of paper e.g. spring, morning, afternoon, snow, fire, home, friend, noise-silence, night-day 2 Write down as many words as you can connected with this word 3 Arrange the words into 3 lines (write short-long-short lines) 4 Ask your friend to check it.
