2 Personal Pronouns Refer to people or things Include: I, me, my, mine, you, your, yours, he, him, his, she, her, hers, it, its, they, them, their, theirs, we, us, our, ours. ME!
3 PRONOUNS Personal Pronoun A pronoun that represents a person or thing. Antecedent The noun that the pronoun is replacing.
4 What are pronouns? Pronouns take the place of nouns. The word or phrase replaced by a pronoun is called an antecedent.
5 Mini Lesson The ANTECEDENT of a sentence is the NOUN that a PRONOUN took the place of. The antecedent and the pronoun need to agree in NUMBER ( both are either singular or plural).
6 Example: Halloween is one of America's holidays. It is celebrated in October. (Halloween is a noun. It is a pronoun that refers to the antecedent, Halloween.)
7 Example: When Robert was fixing the car, he cut his hand. (Robert is a noun. He is a pronoun that refers to the antecedent, Robert.)
