2 Cinema UK cinemas saw box office records increase for third consecutive year in offered a broad range of titles to audiences with Star Wars, Beauty & the Beast, Despicable Me 3 and Dunkirk passing the 40 million milestone. Novelty experience cinema ranging from secret cinemas film stages extravaganza, hot tub cinema, rooftop cinema, underground cinema, lunar cinemas, countless pop up and outdoor cinema experiences. Immersive motion seating (IMS) and 4d seating playing more of a pivotal role. Move towards premium experience accelerated in 2017 Odeon installing 6 Odeon Luxe together with Vue and Cineworld also investing/ installing VIP screens Investment in existing sites will become increasingly important with the big three Vue, Cineworld and Odeon leading the way by reducing number of seats and upgrading to VIP quality to enhance experience. The cinema market is evolving, and will continue to polarise between the multiplex, boutique and neighbourhood operators. Boutique cinemas are now recognised by Landlords as credible alternatives to the larger multiplexes as anchors to mixed use schemes. Consumers still and will enjoy attending the cinema, as long as operators continue to improve, adapt and invest to keep ahead of the internet generation, and the growth of online streaming services such as Netflix and Screening Rooms.

4 Health and Fitness Regional cities are having their moment as boutiques fitness operators look to expand outside of London. Landlords are becoming more open to gym tenants not only are they aware of the complimentary nature of a gym within a mixed use scheme, but also as a ripe opportunity in a challenging A3 market. Franchising models becoming more prevalent as operators see this as a quick growth model eg. easygym, Anytime Fitness, SNAP Fitness, Omni Fight Club and F45. Budget operators are now adopting smaller floorplates in a bid to target smaller markets and city centre locations The UK s leading operators, in both the public and the private sectors (by number of clubs and members), remain the same as last year: Pure Gym and GLL, with 176 and 167 gyms, respectively. Will either break the 200 mark over the next 12 months? Low cost clubs now account for 15% of the market value and 35% of membership in the private sector. Premium clubs still have their place in the market and Super Premium brands such as Third Space, and Equinox are looking for larger floorplates in London and paying record rents.

Virtual Reality parks beginning to emerge and is set to become more prolific across the UK as we catch up with the US.
