2 Louisiana Music Educators Association 2016 Professional Development Conference Crowne Plaza Executive Center Baton Rouge, La. Fran Hebert, President Bruce Lambert, Executive Director James Hearne, Conference Chairman November 17-21, 2016 Welcome to the Louisiana Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference As LMEA President I am honored to experience this distinguished and reputable gathering with you. Our organization is pleased to partner with the students of our all-state ensembles to rehearse and perform quality music under the direction of notable conductors. We are grateful to the parents, schools, and communities who support music education. Your involvement in our endeavors is immeasurable. Our teachers are the best and brightest minds in the profession who contribute their heart and soul in daily music instruction to their students. You are certain to enjoy and appreciate the evidence of their investment as you attend your choice of outstanding all-state concerts. Our district directors, division chairmen, ex-officio members, and associate organization members combine with the executive board to form a team 30 members strong, the LMEA board. Leadership from the board produces highly-anticipated conference clinics and meetings for our membership where the exchange of information and ideas by renowned presenters equip and inspire both the experienced and the novice music educator. We include the business community with exhibit booths that offer products and services available to our membership. We partner with university staff across the state to give our students the opportunity to inquire about steps toward higher education. We capture memories through pictures and videos of our all-state concerts, made available for purchase on-site. We recognize and award outstanding administrators who advance the arts in education, and young music educators who have made major accomplishments within their first five years of teaching, and experienced teachers who merit election into the LMEA Hall of Fame. And all this is just a snapshot of the five days of conference activities. Our students are the reason we are here. We are glad you have joined us. Enjoy! apprécier la musique! Fran Hebert, LMEA President
